That song was the G-spot of the 90's, it is about finding something, it came at the perfect time and place, it's lyrics, brilliant and very clever, reflected the mood, I could listen to it 100 times and it would get better.

Amen brother. We weren't aware theater were living in such a free spirited and emotionally driven time or how the world would change so drastically. We were just young and living in the beautiful moment. I feel old saying this...but it's true.

Right on. This song is like an emotional time machine for me. I grew up with it in my teens and it still makes me feel the same way two decades later.

Well said! I get to play music with Scot Alexander, Dishwalla's bassist. Coolest cat, inspiring musician, and a loyal friend.

This is my probably my favorite live recording of any song. What an amazing voice! And not a bad video recording from Campbell University way back in '96.

BEST VOIVE EVER and I still know you because of his amazing voice. I first heard the song "counting blue cars" on Z100 radio in the US and then in Italy learned more about the singer and his wonderful TALENT and love what he does even more. Angela Italy

I'm 34 now. I must have missed that memo about this not being cool when I was 10. I have very fond memories of the Christmas of '96, sitting in my room, going through a box of sports cards I got as a gift, blasting Pet Your Friends (which I also got as a gift that year), and feeling like the coolest dude in the world. :D

This was my go to karaoke song. I mean I killed this shit. Then one night there was a thousand bucks on the line and I had that shit and I knew it. I was gonna go last. In walks this knockout blonde and she sings Love Hurts by Nazereth. I got on my knees and slave bowed. Turns out she was the other blonde guitarist from The Runaways. Fucking ringer. I'm still pissed, lol!

I've been thinking about this song, and I finally get what it's about.
See, a guy in a blue convertible is driving to his optometrist just after his lunch when he hits a group of underprivileged children and their chaperone, who is a greedy lawyer hoping to capitalise on their misfortune, on the way to get their eyes fixed. Now, he's in the hospital and about to die, so he's talking to a priest, but the regular priest isn't there, so they had to call in the Gaia worshipping hippie priestess from down the street.
    It's perfectly obvious.
"Must have been late afternoon, I could tell, by how far the child's shadow stretched out" (He's off his lunch and he just catches a glimpse of the kids he's about to run over.)
"Our clothes are stained with fast money (the lawyer) cross eyed people" (The kids going to the optometrist that he is about to splatter against his hood.)
"Tell me all your thoughts on God, cause I'd really like to meet her(because the Gaia priestess would have killed him for calling God a He.)"
It's right there, people. You're welcome.
