I wish Glen could sing the songs like he used to, but unfortunately, they tune everything down for him these days. It might not sound different for a casual fan but for music fans, Toad fans, and musicians in general it ruins the songs. It's truly too bad people's voices change and deepen as they age, because in his prime, Glen had one of the most crisp and youthful male voices you'll hear.
I'm a death metal head, but I think metal heads appreciate musicianship... which is why Toad is hard to deny, they just are good song writers, performers, players... period.
This song is a statement to my marriage and how its been for more than 2 decades. You just live through life. Nothing is ever smooth. Somethings always wrong.
Toad music holds up so well. This song could have been released yesterday. It just doesn't sound dated or tied to some genre from a different time. Good stuff.
Thank you to Toad the Wet Sprocket... I "grew up" with this song and this band in the 90's as a young Marine and it always meant "something" to me... just wasn't sure what. Until now... Now I know... and now I'm living this song. I love whomever wrote this "for me", right now. I'm sobbing and sharing your pain, my brother...
@@johnpeters3600 ....It means loss. It means a love that once burned in your heart is gone, and you have no idea why. There is no reason.... it is just, gone... Because there was something always wrong...
This song is brilliant! The way the chords blend with the vocal harmonies, and the minor key with the dripping reverb is haunting and melancholy in a way that you he's my soul. It's truly an anthem of the era. Brings me right back to the innocent days of my early/mid-twenties. One of my favorites. These guys are craftsmen! Outstanding live version is very human, and visceral!!!
I don't know what is so magnetic about this band, I love heavy metal, pop metal, hard rock and trash metal, but toad the wet sprocket have something that grabs you
this song hurts my heart so much, every time. churning, longing...very effective. it's too much! 😄 so...i wait between listens, because it's also an unforgettable feel on this one. my opinion...love love.
My favorite Toad song. It pisses me off that when I go to a jukebox. You can only find an edited version that leaves out the awesome outro crescendo that makes this song. That they just played here. 😢
Glen Phillips is an awesome entertainer, singer, guitar 🎸 player.... watch and learn, these boy's know the drill and aim to please in concert and on vinyl. Tumpins Always Wrong.
These guys do an amazing show. I was fortunate enough to see them perform in a small venue in North Carolina back in 2011. I was hanging outside the show having a cigarette, and Randy came up to me and we talked for like 20 mins. Glen is really awesome, too. He took pictures with everyone, and signed everyone's lithograph. It was one of the best times I've ever had, and I hope to do it again one day.
I see no comments about the reversal of the pre-chorus and the implications when heard alongside the verse. Did no one notice? Did they notice but not care? Did they care, but not think? Did they think, but not comment?
I've seen several live versions of this song and have often wondered why Glen switches lines in the chorus. It's not bad, just different. TBH I prefer it the way it's done on the album version
One of the most underrated bands of all time. Such a great sound. They were hot when I was in college, so many great memories
Totally agreed.
Sad... people don't write music like this anymore.
DULCINEA is one of my favorite album of all time!
*MASTERPIECE!*
Mine too. It's top five for sure, maybe even top three.
Its on my list of "top10 albums for a desert island"...
@@FMHammyJ Me and a buddy have an "the only songs you can have for the rest of your life on a desert island" 100 songs. My list is very Toad heavy.
True statement. This album is indeed amazing and a masterpiece.
I recently found this song again after 30 years. Brought back a lot of memories. Time flys....
Recently fell in love with 90s rock. This dude was talented and amazing, I'm in awe ❣️
Love Glen and they are all talented.
And such a cutie. 😍

My absolute favorite by these guys. And this live performance does the song justice.
Man, this song (and video) takes ma back… Back to the beginning of the love I found in Glen Phillips songs.
In 1995, I saw Toad open for the Cranberries at Red Rocks. Amazing show!
Im totally a heavy metal fan.. but this band its always in my setlist 90s brings me good memories

The same goes for me, and I'm an 80s metalhead. You can't deny good music!
I had no idea metal heads would enjoy this
I'm a metal head who's in complete agreement.

Reminder of my failed marriage of 35 years but this tune makes me think but life goes on has a Comforting feel even though i never met what she wanted
You and Glen have something similar in common, then. 🌞

I saw them in New Jersey. Met the band and they signed my shirt!
Glen signed my cd, "I miss you (my name)." (My ex bought the cd and had Glen sign it hoping it would score points.) Love Glen, but it didn't.
Love Toad. 💘
Lol. Glen goofed and laughed @ "Somethings" changed at all. 00:53
