At that time the two-strokes put out roughly double the horsepower as a 4-stroke of the same displacement. They were pushing 4-strokes because California didn’t like 2-strokes. Back in the day I actually read the fine print of the new regulation. Based on ridiculous calculations. They multiplied the number of 2-strokes owned in the state by the number of weekend days in a year, multiplied by 8 hours, to come up with 300 tons of pollution per year. So they began to regulate them progressively more.
The crazy thing about these electric bikes is There's no lag In the throttle to the wheel. It's like when you were a kid. You had the electric cars on the race track. As soon as you squeeze the trigger, it's just gone. Doesn't have that little bit of fuel to combustion to the Wheel which is why that Tesla car so d*** quick off From zero to sixty.. The only thing that I would wonder about is the sound. Do you miss the sound of the engine Kind of letting you know What's your rate of speed is and Since I'm assuming there's really no gears does that help you or hinder you with getting into corners and such. Again I'm making an assumption on the gear thing but I would assume it just goes from throttle to tire. No gears to run through And do just answer that question for me. RLTW 3/75
I think the major question is..how Will it fit in a common rider..not a pro with a factory behind..if you need to fix something on the bike..can you do it or Will you need to always go to the local shop?
what's to fix its no gearbox no oil change and all those complicated 4 stroke cams and valves don't exist the wheels and suspension are the same as other bikes One of its appeals is the lack of maintenance for Joe Average. its not designed to race but it was raced to show case it to the public.

@@miguelquintas-g5gAs far as damage goes, the only thing that should be any different would be hitting the battery or motor. Both should be able to be protected quite well, and likely at varying levels depending on preference. And if you managed to sufficiently smash one of those, then yeah, you would have to replace it. But that's not that much different than a gas bike where you can still hit the motor and transmission. Interesting how the manufacturers of electric cars or bikes seem not understand that the sound track is an important part of a motorsports experience. Imagine a race with only electric machines- completely boring without an ICE sound track. I wouldn't pay to attend.
Yea but also the benefit of no sound on a bike means more tracks could throw up lights and stay open into the nights for e bikes. Sure it takes away from the experience, but no one said gas bikes are gone. This is literally a carbon copy of the 2stroke 4stroke debate. All will be well, it’s more money for the industry, more money for the sponsors, more money for the riders, and if you really think gas bikes will disappear with e bikes coming in explain why ktm, husky, gas gas, Yamaha, beta, sherco, etc all still make 2024 model 2 strokes. I'm sure it's super fun to ride. Imagine it would take a min to get used to I feel I use the engine noise and knowing what gear I'm in to judge how I'm hitting jumps.
It looks difficult to start, but once you get used to it, it's wholeshot every time. Also, restarting the engine in case of a fall may also work to your advantage, but is it fair to mix reciprocating engines and EVs?
@@Marleysdad808 In terms of reciprocating engines, I think it is fair to have a mix of 2nd 125cc and 4th 250cc engines, as well as 250cc and 450cc engines in a race. (Without considering environmental issues for the moment). Off topic, but the top two times of the Nürburgring circuit cars are for hybrids and EVs, with a reciprocal engine in third place by 6 seconds.
@@Marleysdad808 Horsepower isn't that different. 2002 CR250 59.0ps(43.4kw)/8500rpm 2019 CRF450 59.71./10000RPM Ev, on the other hand, gives the same horsepower anytime, anywhere, regardless of RPM. It's like a RC CAR. Ideally, they will eventually be classified into different categories like F1 and Formula E.
I’m sure the E bikes are great fun to ride, but from a spectators view, a full field of E bikes would be bland to watch. The noise of ICE bikes adds so much to the viewer experience… anyone that’s seen the ‘zero’ class at the Isle of Mann I’m sure would attest to this.
I’m not on the electric ban wagon at all. I don’t hate on them but they not for me. I find it funny how I hear about the electric grid can’t handle the demand in cold weather or the summer heat but yet tell everyone go out and buy electric vehicle. I’m just old school and set in my ways. I don’t care what others do.
There would definitely be difficulties, but they have pitstops where they could swap batteries, and they definitely have generators at their camps. There is always a way. And you can't argue that electric doesn't outperform the gas bikes. They make equal or greater power, the power is constant rather than limited RPM range where majority of power is, and no gears to shift. The only serious downside is range, and that gap is slowly narrowing.
Your front end is dropping through the whoops ,increase the rebound a few clicks and it'll keep the front tire in the fork longer in turn keeping the front end up until it hits the next bump. When the track gets bumpy the front will stick better on the choppy stuff too
its been in a lot of outdoor races it will do 30 minute races and still have 5% battery left . it is its weak spot but thats nailing it in racing conditions
@@grabir01Based on some reviews I've seen, not that long. A couple hours I believe, and if there is a way to change batteries then you have almost no downtime. Batteries are expensive, but so is gas. Electricity is fairly cheap. In the long run E-bikes are likely to be much more affordable both running and maintenance wise. Another plus.
When you see track times all the way across the board like the under 10sec. Tesla plaid 1/4 mile.when a nuborn fresh off the press like the varg in one of their first competitions places 1st. In the main.if you keep an open mind and think bout it.The combustion engine is an old technology.thats it in a nutshell.
They’ll end up in a different category due to major technical differences. Similar to Folrmula E and Formula 1.. now let me ask you, how many fans does Formula E have as opposed to Formula 1? It’s gonna be the same thing. 50% of this sport for the fans is the sound, especially in arenas.
Shouldn’t be allowed to race against gas motors. They actually have an advantage! No clutch, no shifting and thinking about what gear you need to be in. Just twist the throttle and go
So a good rider racing a bike with 50% more power won a race? Why doesnt Everyone realize that most countries produce over 90% of their electricity by burning fossil fuels? the electric these bikes charge batteries with is no greener then an ice bike using a tank of gas. Everyone needs to understand we CANT electrify every type of engine. We dont have the raw materials for every device that humans use to be electric. I believe in climate change, but 250cc or 450cc dirtbikes arnt responsible. Recreational vehicles produce such a small amount of total green house emissions.
This isn't about environment... This is about performance and electric is better in this class. Inn other classes ice bikes still outperform electric bikes but let's see how long... And btw, even if the bike gets charged using fossil fuels, it still uses less of them because the efficiency is higher (bigger powerplants have a higher efficiency and run on max efficiency all the time, in an ice bike you can't use it at max efficiency all the time, maybe 10-20% of the time)
Other than the fact it looks like a brick, seems like it rides ok. Separate class for sure. It just shouldn't be allowed on the gate with 25 other bikes at full song.
Hopefully not like in USA when 250 four strokes came in and pushed out two strokes. Full factory prototype against 125 two strokes. Absolutely hate EVs sole less . Plus the lie being pushed as green and start with a massive co footprint before they turn a wheel.

I don't think anyone is buying a stark to try to be green. But it might help open tracks near cities so we can all ride more. Every place I grew up riding is now houses and roads, it's over an hour trip to the nearest track, more than that to trails, and that nearest track was sold to become a housing development already, but it was saved by the real estate crash in 08'. It's just a matter of time before there are no places left to ride at all.

I think this will create the urge to have an ebike class, there being only one large e bike manufacturer as of right now makes it hard to have a class.

RLTW 3/75
Can't wait till Honda enters the rest of the world with it's ebike
Why should they limit HP?? If Honda's 2024 bike was making more HP than the rest, would they be told they had to limit it ?
I think the major question is..how Will it fit in a common rider..not a pro with a factory behind..if you need to fix something on the bike..can you do it or Will you need to always go to the local shop?
That's a good point - these days everything is built in a way to force us to rely on the manufacturer more and more after the sale.
what's to fix its no gearbox no oil change and all those complicated 4 stroke cams and valves don't exist the wheels and suspension are the same as other bikes One of its appeals is the lack of maintenance for Joe Average. its not designed to race but it was raced to show case it to the public.
@@williamshaneblyth i think that's the problem..it's a showcase.. OffRoad bikes Crash..if in One Crash you damage something you shouldn't..where does it leads you??in My opinion that's what the factories are not telling US..i think eléctric can be good..but does not replace combustion..different solutions in eléctric stuff is needed
As long as parts are available and not outrageously priced, I see extremely lower operating and maintenance costs.
There will always still be a place for 2&4 Strokes though!

It looks difficult to start, but once you get used to it, it's wholeshot every time. Also, restarting the engine in case of a fall may also work to your advantage, but is it fair to mix reciprocating engines and EVs?
Is it fair to mix 2-strokes and 4-strokes with twice the displacement? If its a dirt bike, race it.

Charging an electric dirtbike is like running an electric clothes dryer, it's really nothing. It's only 5% or so of an electric car
You are "hearing" from an ignorant source.
Real hard to do baja 1000 or dakar, where chargers.
hey a long cable or solar panels or quick swap batteries lol
There would definitely be difficulties, but they have pitstops where they could swap batteries, and they definitely have generators at their camps. There is always a way. And you can't argue that electric doesn't outperform the gas bikes. They make equal or greater power, the power is constant rather than limited RPM range where majority of power is, and no gears to shift. The only serious downside is range, and that gap is slowly narrowing.
how do they determine if it fits in the class? ride anything electric you bring ruleset would be just p2w
The Stark Varg has a 60hp mode so they can race with the normal 450 class as long as they don't turn it up to 80hp
Chi vivrà vedrà 😂
Welcome to all moto sports. It's all pay to win, dork
They should use the same rule for allowing 2Ts to compete against 4Ts. Just dyno the bike and if it stayed under 60 hp, then let it race.
Your front end is dropping through the whoops ,increase the rebound a few clicks and it'll keep the front tire in the fork longer in turn keeping the front end up until it hits the next bump. When the track gets bumpy the front will stick better on the choppy stuff too
How long was the race? 30min?
its been in a lot of outdoor races it will do 30 minute races and still have 5% battery left . it is its weak spot but thats nailing it in racing conditions
@@williamshaneblyth So MX only. How long to charge before the next race?
@@grabir01Based on some reviews I've seen, not that long. A couple hours I believe, and if there is a way to change batteries then you have almost no downtime. Batteries are expensive, but so is gas. Electricity is fairly cheap.
In the long run E-bikes are likely to be much more affordable both running and maintenance wise. Another plus.
When you see track times all the way across the board like the under 10sec. Tesla plaid 1/4 mile.when a nuborn fresh off the press like the varg in one of their first competitions places 1st. I’m curious if ice bike manufacturers will do something to stop the ice bikes competing?
They already have at FIM
Banned a lot races.
They’ll end up in a different category due to major technical differences. Similar to Folrmula E and Formula 1.. now let me ask you, how many fans does Formula E have as opposed to Formula 1? It’s gonna be the same thing. 50% of this sport for the fans is the sound, especially in arenas.
Shock win? Hardly given the clear advantage Stark holds.
Bike looks nose heavy in the whoops.
I think there will be some technique tweeks coming on a lot of the skills needed to optimize performance on these...
Shouldn’t be allowed to race against gas motors. They actually have an advantage! No clutch, no shifting and thinking about what gear you need to be in. Just twist the throttle and go
Love it the Future is now.
Been to a race with EVs. Unbelievably boring! Thought there wouldn't be much difference, boy was I wrong.

I’m indifferent. He doesn’t have a clutch and has so much torque. It’s such an advantage to just twist and ride.
If it had gears…
Keep it. Bring back two strokes
EV bikes need their own class. You cannot verify their power setting against an ICU.
you can by the voltage and current. They have full logs that they have to turn in after the race.
So if you can race an e bike against 450’ what about a 500 2 stroke
I mean its double the power and designed to be the best mix of all of the real bikes if they told the truth so why would it not win?
This needs regulations. It will be the same shit when 250 2 strokes had to race 450's
EVs are the future and will allow us to actually ride as most areas are getting closed.
All that music is garbage, only made it 5 minutes...
Only problem with that bike is that it’s electric
'what am absolute sausage'
GHEEEEEYYY
E-bikes are very super boooooring. I want more braaaaaaappp and ra-ta-ta-ta-ta.
they should put speakers with a 2 stroke noise evidently in the noisy race you cant tell if your bogged down or wheel spinning
They should let you race 80hp for sure, a four stoke can have twice the displacement as a two stroke why not let the electric run uncorked
uncorkem
Doesn't matter the tq and hp curve on electric is way better than those 450s
Pretty obvious you don't know anything about engine physics...
