It's a great ride on the high speed rail. For people who just want to go from Kaohsiung to Tainan, the better way to go from K to T is by express train. Takes roughly same amount of time for the entire trip and lands you in the center of Tainan. The total cost is much less.

I was three in November, and a Swedish friend came to visit me for 2 weeks. We did a trip to Hualiwn and Taitung. So beautiful. We visited Brussels many time while my brother lived there.
Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan, almost 400 years old (founded in 1624). The Dutch called it "Tayouan" and it then became "Taiwanfoo" in 1684, after the Qing Dynasty took control.
Also it's very funny, I used to spend my vacation to other countries, but when I saw you guys visited places and ate foods, seems so interesting, it even enlighten the desire for me to tour my island.
You may have a little trips to local temples as the amount of temple in Tainan is the highest among Taiwan. there are quite many small historical temples just in the city center, and a local museum about Taiwan.
@@NaickKim I previously recommended Taipei Northern Coast Tour if you are going back and also Taitung. However in case you are going up Taichung, then might as well visit Sun Moon Lake and other places of interest in Taichung. I was there in a good sunny month, Sept I think, so SML was a splendid sight to behold. Perhaps rainy months might give it a misty magical feeling But I generally don't like wet days which mean I can't do much outdoor activities.

Welcome to Tainan. The Anping riverside is good for walking, but the weather isn't great now. There are lots of museums and Historic sites in Tainan city center, all worth visiting.

Railway stations are usually in urban areas, and high-speed rail stations are usually located in suburbs. It is recommended to use a train for short distance movements, you can go directly to the city

There are always two kinds of "Bubble milk tea" in a Taiwan drink shop, "cream" and "fresh milk". I recommend the fresh milk type. Most Taiwanese would ask for half sugar (or 30% sugar), less ice at the same time. Looking forward for the video about the hotel you stay.

Bubble Tea is originally from Taichung City. Plum rain season just started in Taiwan, within this month will be a lot of rainy days and some of them are quite heavy. The TRA stations are always in the city centre and The HSR stations are mostly located at suburbs except Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Anyway, enjoy your stay in Taiwan and wish you have very good time in Taiwan.
TRA has TR-Pass can let you take train unlimited. It's a good way to travel Taiwan with train. And each train station has it's own stamp you can collect.

@@NaickKim Since you are in Anping, it's good to start with blanching beef soup(清燙牛肉) at 文章牛肉湯. 周氏蝦卷 has famous shrimp rolls and other street foods like braised pork rice, rice noodles, fish ball soup etc. In central district, 度小月 is the must to visit for their Danzai noodles(擔仔麵) (I will recommend the original store nearby the roundabout on 中正路). Also on 國華 street, you can try bowl rice cake(碗粿) at 富盛號, Steamed bun (刈包) at 阿松刈包, and Squid rice noodles(小卷米粉) at 邱家小卷米粉. Those places are usually packed during the weekends. Enjoy!

HSR in Taiwan is best.. very clean and very friendly folks.. I take the reserved cars/seats when going back home .. that's why yours was emptier.. a bit more costs so local gets the non-assigned seats

Aww Tainan! Watch out for food attack! Cuz you can easily put on few pounds before you know it! Also Europe left its trace in Tainan, if you haven't heard it yet, Netherlands once built a fortress here as a trading post while competing with Spain during 15th century. Make sure to visit~
If you plan to take HSR again to next city , you can take free shuttle bus to downtown from HSR station instead of Taxi. That can save you lots of money. Welcome to my hometown Tainan.
Most HSR station is connected to a local train (TRA, Taiwan Railway Administration) station. Tainan’s HSR station is connected to TRA Sha Lun Station and there are frequent departures on local trains bringing you into downtown Tainan from the HSR station, which can save you a lot of money from the taxi XD. Also, if you are planning to visit the eastern coast of Taiwan (always wanna go but didn’t make it there yet), TRA is like the only available railway option for you around that area. Enjoy your stay there and remember to post a food video too even though that will make me really hungry again XD
Yes, it's a trap for tourists to travel between Tainan and Kaohsiung in HSR. TRA express trains will take you right to the city centre under 30mins rather than another 40mins road trip after that 12mins train.

The Carrefour complex across the street of the city hall is amazing if other shopping districts are too far away. Although 國華街 is the right answer for authentic local fashion shopping (Japanese named that area "Asakusa" just to give you an image of its place to locals)
The origin of bubble tea has two sayings, one is Chun Shui Tang （春水堂） which originates in Taichung （台中）and another one is where you guys are at Tainan （台南）‘s Hanlin Tea （翰林茶館）both claim they are the inventor of bubble tea, but in my opinion both are very good. Tainan also has a lot of other unique Boba shop you should try some as you are in this wonderful old city!

3.白河、東山行程。 白河關子嶺吃山雞泡溫泉、東山175咖啡公路喝咖啡享受清幽下午時光。
4.安平古蹟巡禮，遊覽億載金城、德陽軍艦園區、安平小砲台、東興洋行與系遊出張所。
5.鹽鄉巡禮。 除了七股鹽山外還有北門井仔腳鹽田。 由於鄰近海邊，都可以大啖海產喔。

My paternal grandfather was from Tainan, even though he stayed in Taipei after college, our ancestral family tomb is in Tainan on our family land, just outside the city, and every time I’m in Taiwan (born in Taipei but live in NYC), I make a point of visiting Tainan. Anping riverside is good for walking, but the weather isn't great now. There are lots of museums and Historic sites in Tainan city center, all worth visiting.

Railway stations are usually in urban areas, and high-speed rail stations are usually located in suburbs.
It is recommended to use a train for short distance movements, you can go directly to the city

Yes, so much history here.
There are always two kinds of "Bubble milk tea" in a Taiwan drink shop, "cream" and "fresh milk". I recommend the fresh milk type. Most Taiwanese would ask for half sugar (or 30% sugar), less ice at the same time. Looking forward for the video about the hotel you stay.

There are many temples in tainan, several of which offer English guided Tours. You can experience some folk culture, such as drawing lucky signs and so on. It will be unforgettable

You're lucky to move to Tainan today because the heavy rain is swamping Kaohsiung and even caused the floods at this moment. Passengers, cars and lorries have to move forward in the water. On the contrary, Tainan is less affected by the downpour.
Tainan is the oldest city and used to be the capital of Taiwan. Dutch came to this area in 1624 and built two castles in Tainan. One is near today's city centre and another is in An Ping. You can also enjoy scrumptious foods there, especially in Sarkaliba.
Here in Tainan it has been raining for about 48 hours now, so not sure if it is that much better haha. Looking forward to exploring more here.
@@NaickKim We're now in the plum rain season, the wettest season of the year. Won't be out of it until mid-June. So have the rain gear handy. :)

Bubble Tea is originally from Taichung City. Plum rain season just started in Taiwan, within this month will be a lot of rainy days and some of them are quite heavy. The TRA stations are always in the city centre and The HSR stations are mostly located at suburbs except Taipei, Taichung and Kaohsiung. Anyway, enjoy your stay in Taiwan and wish you have very good time in Taiwan.
TRA has TR-Pass can let you take train unlimited. It's a good way to travel Taiwan with train. And each train station has it's own stamp you can collect.

Tarroko Gorge is maybe the next spot to go since it number one spot in terms of number of visitors.
We will definitely head to Tarroko Gorge in the future. But we have a few other stops in mind first haha.
If the weather is good, Sicao Green Tunnel is recommended ,you will love it !

I love love love Tainan! I don’t know what it is but it’s my favorite city in Taiwan.
You could take a normal train when you reached Tainan HSR station to Tainan Train Station (city). It cost TWD 20-30 per person to reach the city.

Welcome to Tainan! Are you staying nearby the canal in Anping District? Tainan is the oldest city in Taiwan with lots of historic sites. Chihkan Tower(赤崁樓), Confucius Temple(孔廟), Anping Fort(安平古堡), Eternal Golden Castle(億載金城) are the top 4 tourist spots to visit. And Tainan has the most street foods in Taiwan. Don’t miss Danzai noodles(擔仔麵), bowl rice cake(碗粿), Squid rice noodles(小卷米粉), shrimp roll(蝦卷), blanching beef soup(清燙牛肉）etc.. too many choices. Stay safe in raining reason! From Tainan locals :)

@@NaickKim Since you are in Anping, it's good to start with blanching beef soup(清燙牛肉) at 文章牛肉湯. 周氏蝦卷 has famous shrimp rolls and other street foods like braised pork rice, rice noodles, fish ball soup etc. In central district, 度小月 is the must to visit for their Danzai noodles(擔仔麵) (I will recommend the original store nearby the roundabout on 中正路). Also on 國華 street, you can try bowl rice cake(碗粿) at 富盛號, Steamed bun (刈包) at 阿松刈包, and Squid rice noodles(小卷米粉) at 邱家小卷米粉. Those places are usually packed during the weekends. Enjoy!

HSR in Taiwan is best.. very clean and very friendly folks.. I take the reserved cars/seats when going back home .. that's why yours was emptier.. a bit more costs so local gets the non-assigned seats

It is like you fly from Belgium's south Brussels airport to Amsterdam you spend more time between the city to airport than go directly to city center by bus

Tainan is an ancient capital of Taiwan.there are so many traditional cuisines in Tainan.For exampl:fried shrimp roll,special beef noodle,milkfish porridge......etc.I highly recommend you to looking for it!

Also Europe left its trace in Tainan, if you haven't heard it yet, Netherlands once built a fortress here as a trading post while competing with Spain during 15th century. Make sure to visit~

If you plan to take HSR again to next city , you can take free shuttle bus to downtown from HSR station instead of Taxi. That can save you lots of money. Welcome to my hometown Tainan.

Most HSR station is connected to a local train (TRA, Taiwan Railway Administration) station. Tainan’s HSR station is connected to TRA Sha Lun Station and there are frequent departures on local trains bringing you into downtown Tainan from the HSR station, which can save you a lot of money from the taxi XD. Also, if you are planning to visit the eastern coast of Taiwan (always wanna go but didn’t make it there yet), TRA is like the only available railway option for you around that area. Enjoy your stay there and remember to post a food video too even though that will make me really hungry again XD

Yes, it's a trap for tourists to travel between Tainan and Kaohsiung in HSR. TRA express trains will take you right to the city centre under 30mins rather than another 40mins road trip after that 12mins train.
But we really wanted to try the HSR haha ;)
@@NaickKim Reasons taken :) Just saw Wes' update, look forward to yours! Tainan is my hometown and just let you know if rain bothers you too much. The Carrefour complex across the street of the city hall is amazing if other shopping districts are too far away. Although 國華街 is the right answer for authentic local fashion shopping (Japanese named that area "Asakusa" just to give you an image of its place to locals)
Spain and the Netherlands ruled Taiwan in the past , so there are some historical monuments and buildings left in Tainan. 😆
Yes, we're pretty close to the An Ping Fort actually. Now if it would stop raining for half an hour, we could go check it out haha.

The bubble tea was originally from TaiChung city, not Tainan city. However, you can enjoy it anywhere in Taiwan.
I am proud of our HSR, haha. I remember that foreigners can get very good price HSR ticket on KKDAY or Klook app. Maybe you can check it out.

The origin of bubble tea has two sayings, one is Chun Shui Tang （春水堂） which originates in Taichung （台中）and another one is where you guys are at Tainan （台南）‘s Hanlin Tea （翰林茶館）both claim they are the inventor of bubble tea, but in my opinion both are very good. Tainan also has a lot of other unique Boba shop you should try some as you are in this wonderful old city!
