I've started using Edge Profiles to log into my client's M365 tenants (Admin centre etc). Everything I do in that profile is under my client's user context. Switch client, switch profile. It's a pain having to set things up multiple times e.g. extensions, but overall, it's a time saver. I never thought I'd say this after moving to Chrome, but Edge it is becoming appealing again! Doesn't hang as much as Chrome these days either ... shock/horror!

If you set the 'When Microsoft Edge starts' setting to 'Open tabs from previous session' whatever you were doing with that client last time will re-open again for you when you switch to that profile. For example, I always have the M365 Admin Center open in a tab in each profile. Another little admin time-saver 🙂

God knows why people love Chrome over Edge when it lacks even basic bookmark management features. Not talking about Collections in Edge. 1. Recently deleted so you can recover accidentally deleted bookmark 2. Duplicate finder for bookmarks 3. Find bookmarks is not possible from the top down menu in Chrome. You got to open the bookmark manager.
Thank you for your video, it's great. My only gripe with Edge is that it fails at large data sets rendered into HTML SELECT elements. Create a local HTML file with a SELECT element that has anything over 7000 rows in it. Open that in Edge and you'll be waiting 7 or more seconds for the page to fully load. Open it in any other browser, or even Edge but in Internet Explorer compatibility mode, and it'll load near instantly.

What about having different desktops. Like on a mac that you have hot corners. Sometimes I get them but it is always out of luck. I wish you had explained how they turn on and off.

Trying to clear out programs that I don't use. I don't have many at all and I don't game, so there's no gaming apps but I want to get rid of either Chrome or Edge as my secondary. I use Firefox daily. Lots of great stuff about Edge but I found saving my shortcuts and pic in pic is easier to navigate in Chrome, for me at least. Something is constantly slowing my pc and running checks all of the time which interferes with any computer work that I'm doing. It gets so bad that even when I try to get to the task manager, it sometimes takes about 10 minutes just to open it. I'll have to give Edge a week straight of dedicated usage. I'm just so used to my Mozilla. I don't like change. Thank you for the video, Sir.

Nice video Jonathan. Since 2020, I have been using Edge without looking back. All the features you mentioned alongside it being a less of a memory hog make me stick with it. My favourite feature is the workspaces. Different workspace, for different tasks, alongside mouse gestures, have made by browsing experience much smoother.

As a Linux user, managing Windows users Edge has been invaluable the web-apps function is also great for those users that only need 4 web pages and may be a bit lacking on the tech side. Web-app pin to taskbar off they go. Be good to see a video on the Edge setting you can set in Enterprise I saw the option but I havn't gone into yet, if it's what I think it is could be an amazing resource for sys-admins.
I work developing some pretty big web app and prety much everyone in the team uses a different browser but edge is the current go to target and slowly most of our clients switches over to edge and then it has the best debuger that will keep on atracting the developers

as a web developer, I also start using edge since 2021, and I still use it till this day, it's so useful and the dev tools are good, the colluctions are game chagner for me as I can organize my work well, and I can launch a collection very easly without needing to go through the bookmarks. at the moment edeg is the browser for me and I am not interested in changing it

I use Safari on the Mac, and Edge and Chrome on Windows with Edge as default. Chrome on Mac is (at least was) a memory thief. New Edge is not to be confused with old crappy Edge 😊

But the new one is at least just as good, and it feels more modern than Chrome to me. So I will continue to use both, and you can stick to Chrome if that suits you 😊

I tried Edge. I like the functionality. i DO NOT like all the stupid windows or adverts and 'helpful' news feeds. Is there any way to open Edge and be presented with a clear screen with a search ber and my own choice of favorites as I can in Chrome?
I hate edge browser, on my laptop it is lagging, lots of animation and lots of features and sync on Android is bad ( the browser on my phone is bad) which is not a striaght forward when it comes to browsering as a whole. But on chrome, it is straight forward, faster and sync to all my passwords.

I used to be so against Edge, but as of last year, I find it much better than Chrome. I use split screen very frequently and its nice you can do that within the browser. Even for writing purposes, I used the AI tool to give me feedback and alternative words instead of opening up a new tab and doing a whole search.

I vastly prefer Firefox. Edge's Immersive Reader only works IF sites add extra, Microsoft-specific code, a horrible throwback to the days of IE. Firefox Reader Mode (been around forever) works on the majority of websites today, and it's a better implementation, by far. Firefox has had its own fantastic screenshot tool for a long time; Microsoft clearly copied it. Edge is still based on Chrome, and ... it's Microsoft. I prefer to avoid both Google and Microsoft as much as possible. Firefox > Edge > Chrome, IMHO

Also the feature to open a chat conversation in Teams alongside the document or page you are talking about is great.

I started using edge when it switched to chromium and very quickly it became my go to browser. Don’t even have chrome installed anymore.
Which also means it's not supported on high Sierra macs anymore 😿

My only gripe with Edge is that it fails at large data sets rendered into HTML SELECT elements.
Create a local HTML file with a SELECT element that has anything over 7000 rows in it. Open that in Edge and you'll be waiting 7 or more seconds for the page to fully load. Open it in any other browser, or even Edge but in Internet Explorer compatibility mode, and it'll load near instantly.

What about having different desktops. Like on a mac that you have hot corners. Sometimes I get them but it is always out of luck. I wish you had explained how they turn on and off.

Trying to clear out programs that I don't use. I don't have many at all and I don't game, so there's no gaming apps but I want to get rid of either Chrome or Edge as my secondary. I use Firefox daily. Lots of great stuff about Edge but I found saving my shortcuts and pic in pic is easier to navigate in Chrome, for me at least. Something is constantly slowing my pc and running checks all of the time which interferes with any computer work that I'm doing. It gets so bad that even when I try to get to the task manager, it sometimes takes about 10 minutes just to open it.
I'll have to give Edge a week straight of dedicated usage. I'm just so used to my Mozilla. I don't like change.

Nice video Jonathan. Since 2020, I have been using Edge without looking back. All the features you mentioned alongside it being a less of a memory hog make me stick with it. My favourite feature is the workspaces. Different workspace, for different tasks, alongside mouse gestures, have made by browsing experience much smoother.

As a Linux user, managing Windows users Edge has been invaluable the web-apps function is also great for those users that only need 4 web pages and may be a bit lacking on the tech side. Web-app pin to taskbar off they go. Be good to see a video on the Edge setting you can set in Enterprise I saw the option but I havn't gone into yet, if it's what I think it is could be an amazing resource for sys-admins.

I work developing some pretty big web app and prety much everyone in the team uses a different browser but edge is the current go to target and slowly most of our clients switches over to edge and then it has the best debuger that will keep on atracting the developers

as a web developer, I also start using edge since 2021, and I still use it till this day, it's so useful and the dev tools are good, the colluctions are game chagner for me as I can organize my work well, and I can launch a collection very easly without needing to go through the bookmarks. at the moment edeg is the browser for me and I am not interested in changing it

Alt+Tab and vertical tab is what I use most. Especially Alt+Tab which let's you treat tabs as if they were windows applications.

I use Safari on the Mac, and Edge and Chrome on Windows with Edge as default. Chrome on Mac is (at least was) a memory thief. New Edge is not to be confused with old crappy Edge 😊

But the new one is at least just as good, and it feels more modern than Chrome to me. So I will continue to use both, and you can stick to Chrome if that suits you 😊

I tried Edge. I like the functionality. i DO NOT like all the stupid windows or adverts and 'helpful' news feeds. Is there any way to open Edge and be presented with a clear screen with a search ber and my own choice of favorites as I can in Chrome?
You have a wheel icon when you open Edge, you can disable almost everything that comes by default, including weather, ads, news, etc.
Interesting to see how much bloat they are managing to get into one app.

I hate edge browser, on my laptop it is lagging, lots of animation and lots of features and sync on Android is bad ( the browser on my phone is bad) which is not a striaght forward when it comes to browsering as a whole. But on chrome, it is straight forward, faster and sync to all my passwords.
It would be good if Microsoft didn't push out updates that break edge. like they did last week.

I used to be so against Edge, but as of last year, I find it much better than Chrome. I use split screen very frequently and its nice you can do that within the browser. Even for writing purposes, I used the AI tool to give me feedback and alternative words instead of opening up a new tab and doing a whole search.

I vastly prefer Firefox. Edge's Immersive Reader only works IF sites add extra, Microsoft-specific code, a horrible throwback to the days of IE. Firefox Reader Mode (been around forever) works on the majority of websites today, and it's a better implementation, by far. Firefox has had its own fantastic screenshot tool for a long time; Microsoft clearly copied it. Edge is still based on Chrome, and ... it's Microsoft. I prefer to avoid both Google and Microsoft as much as possible. Firefox > Edge > Chrome, IMHO

Just saw this in my news feed and I came to say, chrome isn't a virus like edge always booting itself up and running 9 duplications of itself and having to be stopped in task manager constantly until I disabled it, even if chrome takes 10 times the memory and is slower I'd still pick it over the self starting virus that is edge
