- Gregory Alan Isakov is one of the most amazing songwriters around, currently all around the globe performing his new record "Evening Machines". His first Cardinal Session was a wonderful recording in a park, so when he and his band came back to Cologne in November of 2018, we decided to record in a church. This is "Chemicals".

Cardinal Sessions was founded in the summer of 2010. They challenge the classic music video and try to replace impersonal footage with immediate and emotional snapshots.
Bands from all over the world with their different genres present their songs reduced to the essence of the musical spectrum - only vocals and unplugged instruments. Due to the spontaneous live-aspect and the approach to record every song without any additional rehearsal, songs emerge that often sound significantly different to their album versions.
We film on locations that the musicians mostly choose by themselves: remote places, frequented streets, parks, woods, fields, bars; nothing is impossible. We have accomplished our goal if the location fits well to the background of the music we and the artists want to present. But our most important purpose is that there are no borders: we film everything that we like, no matter how popular, famous or also unknown a band might be. It is still important for us to support local talents and it will always stay part of our concept.
The Cardinal Sessions team can also be booked: for example to film short documentaries of album recordings, studio recordings or live concert moments that you want to capture.

Tonight in Leeds, UK! So excited!
Saw him before shutdown. Such an in every sense of the word “amazing” night. I chatted with him behind the venue afterwards. You know that saying, don’t meet your heroes, this was by far the exception. Such a humble, kind, and gracious soul.
He was my last concert before shutdown. Such an amazing show.
Greg is the hidden gem of Earth.
He REALLY effing is. I’ve liked him ever since I was a little kid. The Stable Song is what really really got me into Folk.

I just got out of a break up from a 2 yr long relationship. I found out today that my ex is pregnant. She also may or may not have a miscarraige from the stress of the break up. This song helped me to stop crying for the first time all day. This man's music is pure peace and spoke out to me. I know what I need to do now.

Gregory not only writes incredible and timeless songs, he also delivers every show he plays. I saw him in Calgary at Folk festival and they were having technical issues for 25 mins or so of a 50 minute session. He didn't let it take away from the time he had left, he played his heart out. Good people can make it big I guess :)
