One thing about Egypt that wasn't mentioned; Egypt has to be the most isolated of all to do this since the burial tombs give so much more gold on city capture which makes attacking this setup much more tempting.
re: Sumeria: when you are doing this on Sumeria, you can sometimes just go Drama BEFORE Philo, especially if you have mostly Mining/Calendar luxes and don't need to tech too many of the Ancient Era lux techs (Masonry, Bronze, Trapping, Sailing). The reason is that you only want to start building shrines after opening Piety anyway, after that you might even want to overflow into something cheap like a worker, and only then do you even start building temples. So you might be slightly late to the Ziggurat builds but it's much better to delay those by 2 turns or whatever than it is to delay the 2 culture per city by 8+ turns. This order also gets you to Reformation much faster so Indulgences can be a lot more worth picking. Btw another civ that I think is fairly good for this build is Maya, but in that case it is more like "I'm playing this instead of straight Liberty so I can get more out of my unique shrines" rather than "I'm playing this instead of straight Piety so I get better early hammers"
I've done this as Maya before as well, works well with the Pyramid UB, and the UA since you're teching to theo anyway. I am curious if it would be good for Lithuania, I'm a little confused about how to make the most of their uniques.
No because this build needs a religion to help it catch back up. Lithuania is a civ that has a cheap pike - that’s about it. Maya is a good civ for it as well but it’s very easy to get baited by theology.
