    My thoughts exactly!
Pursue your purpose, But dont use ministry as a way to run away from your problems. I know in the moment it may seem dismal, but don’t overdramatize; STOP the victim mentality and take action to change your current situation. PRAY like it all depends on God! WORK like it all depends on You!

Years ago, someone approached Mother Theresa after an event and asked to work for her in Calcutta. Her reply, "every place on earth has its own Calcutta, there are people right here in your own town who need help. The sick, the homeless, the mentally disabled, abused women, people having to start over again..stay here and get to work.." You don't need a visa and plane tickets to change the world. Thanks anyway Dave.

Talk about hitting the nail on the head!!!! Nicely done, Dave. Sounds like he was just looking for an escape. He talked so slow and sad. Kinda sounds like he might wanna talk to some professionals, to work thru some issues, before traveling halfway across the globe. He will not want to dread coming back home, if he hasnt talked thru his issues before leaving. Wish the best for the caller, and he will have many other ways to help others in life, by doing His will. That missions trip is Not the "Be All-End All" of ways to serve!

That pay sounds awesome for a part time “retail” gig. If you’re living in your parents house at 22 and they are having financial issues, it is your responsibility to help out. If you don’t want to help out, then move yourself out and take on 100% of your own expenses.

Navy offers a wide range of training and opportunities... even in the air (if you want to fly). I served 26 years in Navy/Navy Reserve... and traveled widely (Vietnam, Philippines, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Germany, Italy) and served with the Seabees (repairing roads, building schoolhouses, installing electrical equipment, and so much more in Vietnam), a destroyer squadron (great 10-week summer WestPac cruise while I was on college summer break that took me all over the Pacific!), aviation command in Hawaii (transport aircraft), Pentagon duty, NATO assignment in Italy, and more. While on Reserve active duty, I made a contact that helped me land my first great civilian job, too (connections!). Now, retired, I have a tidy pension, in addition to Social Security, IRA and nice bank balances. I also have enough left over each month to do make regular charitable donations. Navy gave me my start, including G.I. Bill college benefits that helped me pay for my degree. Is military service dangerous? Can be, but not often. Is it hard? Sometimes, but you have support from everyone around you to pull and push you forward. Is it fulfilling? For me, it was (learning skills that helped me in college, surmounting challenges, working missions to completion as part of teams, and achieving success as part of a fine organization). Might not be your cup of tea, but it can become a great "mission" and worth checking out. Gave this guy in the mirror a direction when he completed high school and was absolutely clueless about what was next.

Most young kids joining the military today are not doing so out of enthusiasm for defending the country. They are more interested in a free ride to college and the guaranteed benefits of a stable job and retirement paid for by the tax payers. We should be encouraging young people to entrepreneurs and to build things people want.

Mr. Ramsey, I don't understand a comment you made. This young man said his parents are struggling financially just to pay the mortgage. You replied' it isn't your responsibility. Years ago, my dad became a quadriplegic leaving my mother to work full time, look after my dad and raise four children. Her clients didn't always pay on time and quite a few times my mum was short for the mortgage payment. As a responsible member of the family, I stepped up and gave my mum every penny that I earned. We, as a family wouldn't have made it without coming together. While not legally responsible there is a moral and ethical obligation to help out....not to mention it is a loving gesture. Why not mention helping his parents? You don't abandon family in need. This young man could wait a few months....see his parents through their hardship and then go on his mission. He could do both, since service is the mission.

At least this guy has the money. When I was with YWAM, most of the kids didn't have nearly enough money to complete the mission and there was enormous pressure on the rest of us to give them money. Then one of our leaders stole the money we had donated. Fun times and that was just during the training part. Once we got overseas, the real nuttiness began. I can't say I regret my year with them, because I did have some wild adventures, but I sure wouldn't do it again.

I have seen too many people run to ministry because they failed at everything else. While some people can indeed find God in difficulty, the ministry is not an escape route. I find people who serve God despite having ample other opportunities much more credible than people who couldn't really pull off anything else. That being said, everyone's situation is different. Dave nailed this on the head.

@@archiejames3635 Hi, My hope is that our country would start to behave in this manner: seeking first the Kingdom of God and allowing His Righteousness to be added to us because of said faithfulness to His Word & instruction!
Curreny is mentioned so many times in the Bible. Specifically, Matthew chapter 18 verse 24, the text tells us that a servant of the king owed 10,000 talents(=millions of US dollars). The servant could not pay his debt back on time and the king ordered for him and his family to be sold as payment for the debt.
If our country walked according to the fear and reverence of this consequence of debt, I believe we would be living in a different world!
The amazing part of the passage is that the king had mercy on the servant. Obliged his plea for forgiveness and set him free of his debt. Our Lord & Savior Jesus Christ, extends the same grace & mercy to us!🙌 He paid the price for our spiritual sin & He lovingly guides us in Proverbs 6:5 with direction and instruction to pay off our financial debt with gazelle intensity & diligence!💛🦌

That is going to be hard to accomplish because the global debt is 4X greater than global GDP. As a person who is a citizen of a primary destination for missions (Haiti), I'd really ask people interested in going/coming to reconsider and really ask yourself if what you're doing is going to benefit or harm the people you intend to help. Humanitarian tourism is detrimental specially to orphans, who are deprived of food in order to look famished when you visit (so you can feel compassion and give more) when the orphanage can afford to feed them properly. That's just an example. Google how so much help allegedly sent to Haiti never made it to the people who need it and don't become part of the problem. Help but be smart about it.

Hey bro my chaplain from the Army was a missionary and found a wife. He went to 🇧🇷 and returned with an eye 🍬 lol. We gave him hard time about it but after years of solid married he brought a lady to the 🇺🇸 and give that family a new opportunity. He lives a happy marriage with 2 kids. He was forced to speak Portuguese and help with church with his 2nd language skills. You can get many different opportunities as missionary so you should take it seriously.

Hi Dave Ramsey: Over 40 years, Andrew Yang’s “Freedom Dividend” would give more than one million dollars minus “value added tax” to couples. The Freedom Dividend increases over time. Put the money in our hands!
The “bottom 94%” would benefit from a net gain of Freedom Divided minus the “Value Added Tax”. The “top 6%” would benefit from living in a more equitable society. The “top 6%” have family members, friends and colleagues that would benefit from the net gain.
