With this being a 42', I could imagine the pixel density on this is incredible, leading to some next level depth frome the picture.

well,42 inch is the perfect size for 4k,thats why the pixel density is very good
When I was 12 I had a 20 inch THICC tv fall on me and it broke my hand
I got 42'' 4k samsung tv but only with hdr no oled, despite that pixel density is just right sharp enough and not too smooth like for example some 24'' 1440p monitor have.
I've had this for a couple months and it's been incredible. Playing games, especially PS5 games, has been amazing. Incredible TV and if you're patient you can get a solid deal on it. Plus all the free movies you get with it, just make it an even better deal.

I got the 48" back in December and love it so far..
Been using the 48 inch tv for a while now and its absolutely amazing for me. I chose it over the c2 for the PS5 just barely, but im very happy with my choice. The speakers are VERY good.
Good choice. C2 was unsatisfactory for me and sold it soon after purchase

C2 is better
I personally bought this tv and I agree with everything you’ve said. I chose this one over the LG mainly due to it processor which has slightly better upscaling and better overall image quality thanks to it. I’ve got to it attached a Sonos beam sound bar with sub mini and it elevates the sound performance (especially for music) and thus a better experience. Furthermore, I personally don’t find of a problem not having support for 1440p as only have a ps5 and a Apple TV which is more than enough to get the most out of the tv. Finally, regarding the feature of a game dashboard that competitors like the LG and Samsung have, I do believe that this will be implemented later this year with a software update, but correct me if I’m wrong. I’m really happy with my purchase and I can’t complain about anything tbh. 😃

Sony OLED - I have been using my LG C2 Oled for a while now and it is a lovely tv , quality,vibrant and great game features and lovely picture quality
Would love to see a C2 comparison... been using C2 42" on my desk for console gaming for several months now. I love this TV for gaming 😊

@LiciousBoy I've never had auto dimming in game mode unless there is a static image on screen for a long time - only happens when afk, never during any actual use which is good

I have to say this really makes me consider this over the C2 as PC monitor. I like Google TV a lot. It'll be interesting to hear which is preferred.
I compared the 48 inch version of this television with the Sony A80K 55 inch, and due the size of the A80K 55, I chose that one instead. They are really, really close, where as the A90K has a deeper black contrast than the A80K. I really love the slim backlit remote you get with the A90K televisions or better, so I will be buying a remote like the one that comes standard with the A90K to go with my A80K! I think this would make a great monitor for a Mac Studio, or iMac Pro (though many prefer the 5K monitors).

Just wanted to know how bad the screen burn-in will be with a PC setup!!! For example, using Word and Excel for 6-8 hours daily. I would love to see a side-by-side view of the two apps running. The multitasking possibilities look promising. Great review by the way!
If you’re in the US and size doesn’t matter to you, the 55” A90J is on sale for $999 right now at Best Buy as of this post. It’s $2-300 cheaper than the 42”/48” A90K and better especially with a heat sink, better speakers, and size to name a few. Insane deal. A90K might be the successor by model name but A90J is spec’ed better overall.

I got a 48" version of the a90k and it's fantastic in every area that matters to me (mostly PS5 and some light TV / movies). Personally I don't like the Google TV interface because it displays advertisements on the home page. I booted my brand new TV up and it was showing me ads for fast food. No thanks... I ended up going with an Apple TV instead, which has been fantastic, and hasn't had any ads on the home page. The colors on this TV are so incredible, and I was shocked to see just how much better it is at displaying HDR compared to my supposedly HDR Samsung 28" 4K monitor. It might be that I wasn't using the correct port for the PS5 on the monitor, but I never noticed a difference with HDR on or off, even though I use an HDMI 2.1 cable. But on this Bravia I was blown away. It's such an immense difference. I think the Samsung monitor is either LCD or IPS which may also play a role in it not looking as good.
You can convert any non-Google TV into a Google TV by connecting a device such as the Chromecast with Google TV which I personally use on my LG C1 as I am not a fan of webOS or the Magic Remote.

I had a 48" master series in my setup last year, had that small stand, love that stand. But the TV had fake HDMI2.1. Ended up with the M9 monitor from Sony, Its great but i came into the display market 6 months to soon.

The upcoming L series of Sony TVs will have gaming hubs and other features it's just a real shame they opted to not update their A90K lineup as they probably would have stood to benefit from it the most. Instead they're just keeping it as it is and if you want a gaming hub and other new processing stuff, your next OLED option is the A80L at 55 inches.

Hey man you and I have had the same ever changing setups but I have a question! I use my lg gp950b for competitive gaming and it’s been great! Only problem is these newer TV’s that I’ve been constantly switching. Had the leg cx hated it because it had so much black crush, had the lg g1 had it for longer but then realized bad black crush and dimness in games, recently I just tried the Samsung s95b and it was either broken or insanely inaccurate. What would you say is the best tv you’ve ever used and if oled or qd oled, which had the least black crush out of all of em? I like to play games like halo, cod, gears, on my monitor, I want to play more immersive story games on a tv but I hate losing shadow detail but also don’t like poor contrast/ washed out flat image from IPS panel with my gp950. Games that really show the gp950’s flaws are games like resident evil 4 remake in dark scenes.
Had this TV for a month now, don't regret it at all I LOVE IT. Also how bright do people want their tvs? Apparently this is not very bright 🤔

Every time you post vids like this it makes me want to game. But tbh, there aren’t many enjoyable games right now (for me). Really wish they’d remake battlefield 1 for next gen

love this tv, I've got this the c1 and asus pg42uq. This is my all around favorite.
The ASUS is a great monitor.
@SpawnPoiint it's my main pc/ console use device. The a90k though apps can't be beat and it's Google like my cell phone.

If you want the Google TV experience on your LG I'd recommend adding a Chromecast to it. I've done the same to my Sony TV and it's a great experience.
Please compare this to C2 for desktop gaming and tell us which one you prefer.

The A90K has been my main gaming monitor (PS5,PC,Switch) since launch. It's an amazing TV, very little calibration needed out the box. The picture qualify on this TV is next level. The only negatives are brightness, but still bright enough for true HDR.. Doesn't have four HDMI 2.1 ports, no DP (pipe dream) . I use an 8k switch to get around the HDMI port issue. Great TV. I won't be upgrading until QD-OLED 27-32", 240hz with HDMI 2.1/DP 2.1 monitors become a thing.
I think it will be fair if there is a side by side comparison and let the people to figure out the pros and cons .
Is it better than the LG C1/C2 picture quality wise?
Is the 42inch still have heat sink despite of small sizes? sony best in movies and casual gaming, i still have 55 a8h still good a bit dim compared to other oled.
This my next tv until I can manage to save up for the 77" LG G3 and Nakamichi Dragon soundbar.
Going to get this Sony OLED over the LG C2 if it gets the 2023 Sony model gaming hub update. It’s a shame Sony doesn’t have any 2023 OLED models in the 40” range.

I have the bravia xr77a84ku from sony and the govee T2. I use mine with the ps5 and its amazing. The sound quality on these tvs is amazing but i had to get a sound bar. The sony a7000 has brilliant sound for gaming
Hi, I'm Italian and I saw this video, nice review, can I know if this TV has had the gaming mode update? Another question, by activating the gaming mode, does the image darken like it happens on the LG? It's an effect that I hate to see. I don't understand why LG did something like that

Definitely if you game on a PS5 I think this is probably your best bet 42 OLED especially if you can get it at a price close to the C2. If you use it for multi console/PC monitor I'd say C2 is the better bet.
I love that TV manofcturers are now making high end tv in lower sizes not so long ago those tvs could be found only in 55" or above wich doesn't work for me, now 42~48" are perfect in my gaming room
Correct, I was looking for a new TV in 2021 for Christmas, obviously fell in love with the Sony since they were my wet dream since the Sony A1 and never found something under the 55". My TV setup couldn't go over 50" so I had to set over the 50" x90j which is not oled but still an amazing TV also found with a crazy discount (price on Sony site was 1200€, found little over 750€, three days later was at 999, since my dad helped me with the unboxing, fell in love as well and bought the same for his house 😂)

I always enjoyed your contents as you motivate me to purchase the lg c2 and gp950 however there is a channel called "geek street" that post very similar content as you. Often I get mixed up because its almost identical. Not sure if is a coincidence.

Have you ever had any over/underscan issues with these TV when connecting it to your Nvidia graphics card?
I also have a XR42A90K, but I'm connecting it to a 2080 Ti, and there's a major over/underscan issue going on.
If I physically disconnect the TV from power and restart it, the problem is solved somewhat, but temporarily, but it eventually goes right back to the signal not properly filling the monitor.
The picture signal is drawn outside the actual bounds of the display.
The only way I can permanently fix the issue is going into Nvidia Control Panel and decreasing the resolution of the signal to a slightly lower resolution, which isn't a great solution.
Btw, the option under settings to correct for this, that's currently set to "wide", is greyed out (disabled).
Unfortunately, it does not support 21:9 for gaming unlike LG OLED.
As a AMD user, it is so sad since AMD can't customize resolution.
