I am pretty familiar with the ingredients at baseline, so i dont have to put much research in and i know the literature already. Good video! Now I see why kerasil is better for feet than just cereve sa cream. You mentioned about using urea for nails. Could you use the body urea? I am a 72 year old female that has dry and ridgy nails. I have not used nail polish for several months to try and make my nails better and have been rubbing cereve healing ointment onto my nails and cuticles but my nails are still dry and ridgy. I’m going to try and use cream with urea and see if that works better could I use kerasil for my finger nails? Also I wanted to ask if it is ok to buff your nails to remove the ridges and make them a bit shiner and healthy looking? Thanks Brenda...you are so knowledgeable!

Wooo! As a very dry, eczema prone skin gal, Urea is my absolutely most favourite ingredient in moisturizers! The only thing that makes me feel like my skin has had a big drink of water. So glad you put it in a spotlight! 🤗 👏
The Eucerin urea stuff is great, I’m a big fan and always repurchasing. Never been satisfied with Clinique moisturizers. The Hada Labo perfect gel I found quite disappointing too, didn’t feel as moisturizing and I don’t get on with too much silicones especially on my face. They inevitably pill and feel suffocating. But the Hada-Labo premium lotion then Eucerin urea lotion on the face followed by Vaseline as an occlusive is my go to! Its getting me through hard water, freezing winter high heating combo I’m in right now 🥵🥶😤

Hi Dr Dray! I just realized I’ve been following your channel for about a year. I’ve been hooked ever since I stumbled across the Walgreens video. I’ve become a more informed consumer thanks to your channel!
It seems that with skincare products often you are paying for either pretty packaging or the name brand. What ingredients might justify a higher price point based on its cost?

One of your best videos to-date Dr Dray, if I you allow me to say so, as your explanations were particularly thourough and clear. Thank you ever so much for sharing your knowledge with us and even thinking about us Europeans when you recommend one particular product. Now I know why my dermatologist recommended the Eucerin body mosturizer for my atopic dermatitis. Thanks to your explanations, I am now really aware of how urea works and why it prevents me from scratching my skin off after each shower. I can now take a very short shower daily using a urea-containing Eucerin wash lotion and then apply the Eucerin body mosturizer ! What a change in my life ! No endless scratching session after each contact with water. No anguish at the simple idea of taking a shower !
I was intending to buy a Eurerin face mosturizer but now, thanks to you, I will refrain as I suffer from rosacea.
Thanks again for your time and dedication. Have a nice week.

I have dry skin in the winter and my husband is prediabitic I am adding this video to my favorites for the list. I am doing well with with just the double cleans method at night and moisturize from straight out of the shower. That is self has helped my skin stay pretty "hydrated". I didn't realize this but your page became my unintentional New Years resolution. Revamping my skin care and not wasting my money on expensive "sexy" stuff and using sun screen daily.
I am wearing make up less frequently now but still have fun on the weekends with it. I also do cosplay a few times a year at conventions so I am using my weekend make up sessions as a trial and error for the best way to apply sunscreen and make up. I have used an tinted sunscreen that actually make and amazing foundation with me I only need an under eye concealer because the one awful blemish I have is dark circles in my under eyes. Your use of mineral oil is spot on make up remover and no more wipes except when traveling and that's only if I can't get s small sample sizes of the products I have for traveling. I might just use left over medicane bottles and put the oils and cleansers in. Thoughts on that?

Thanks for this incredibly informative video, Dr. Dray! My question re: Urea is if there is anything we should avoid using it with. Since it is a penetration enhancer, it’s obviously great for things like ceramides (and maybe antioxidants?), but is it problematic when used alongside retinoids for instance? Does the penetrative effect still happen when you are layering a urea product with other products? And are there any other ingredients that urea renders useless (or vice versa) due to issues like PH, formula stability, etc. Thanks again, Dr. Dray!

Oh my gosh, I LOVE THIS VIDEO! Urea is so overlooked by the beauty community. Seems people and companies have forgotten this incredible humectant/exfoliant. Even Dr. Kligman stated, "it sometimes happens in the enthusiastic search for new therapeutic agents that some old stand-by has been overlooked, whose luster has worn off, but which none the less may have some useful application in moments when the miracle drugs falter. In the world of topical therapy, urea is such a drug".

    • @jumpback90

Can't vouch for them personally, but Eucerin makes a urea shampoo and a leave-in scalp treatment. They don't list a urea percentage, but urea is second or third on the ingredient list. It's not part of Eucerin's US line (for some reason urea seems more popular overseas), but they're available from UK sellers who ship to the US (e.g. FeelUnique), Amazon UK, eBay, etc.

    • @joannogas4391

Hi Ana. If your scalp is itchy AND flakey, you may want to see a dermatologist. Mine told me my itch/dandruf was yeast gone wild. Yeast is naturally on our skin but if in excess, it's a problem. I was given a drying perscription "shampoo" which she told me to use like a treatment. That is, put it on your finger tips and masage it into the scalp only. Wait the perscribed time and rinse out. Then cleanse your strands with your favorite gentle shampoo. Condition ends as needed. This is working well for my scalp and my ultra fine, shoulder length color treated hair.

Yet another excellent concise and informative video - I could listen to you all night! I'm in the UK and have been using Eucerin products for a long time (we actually sell it in our pharmacy) and it's such a shame that it gets by passed for the 'sexier' (and usually horrifically more expensive) products. I just found a forgotten tube of the NMF so tried it again, I put a few drops of Hemi-squalane in there (not sure if that was okay, but made it easier to apply) and really felt that my skin was 'happy'. Also got the gold jar of gel (Hada Labo) you spoke about in another video and used it on my damp face after cleansing with water .... I was so shocked at how plumped and hydrated I felt as I normally have to pat dry immediately to avoid that horrible taut feeling as soon as I use water. Oh I so wish you were practising here in the UK, you have no idea how hard it is to find a dermatologist.

But I must say, it has a smell similar to dried up saliva. Which reminds me of the older tolerance extreme Avéne cleanser, which I use to use on my face as a moisturizer years ago since it contained mineral oil, but no actual cleansing agents(before they changed the formula and added alcohol).

Hi Doc! First of all I want to thank you for making this helpful videos...just want to ask few things...
    1. I have been using 10% urea moisturizer (brand is called URECARE) because my face became scaly and skin became elevated around the nose. forehead and nose became red only up to eyebrow level...didn't know if that was rosacea or Seborrheic Dermatitis...it disappeared after only 2days of using the said product.it stings a bit tho but is highly tolerable, that's how I bumped into your video, to know more about it.
    2. Can i use it for a lifetime now? ( It is at 10%) because i love how it made my skin look "very hydrated"❤
