Seeing the way the security handled the guy with the whip my guess would be that he was royalty, there are thousands of princes in the country and I can't think of anyone else who would be treated with kid gloves by security. This would also explain the lack of coverage as embarrassing royals aren't covered in the local press.

Some context I have as an ittihad fan:
- it's still unclear if the fan is an ittihad fan or a hilal fan
-in the last match between the two teams hamdullah got into a fight with al-hilal player ali al-bulayhi, so it could be a hilali fan trying to get revenge
- al-ittihad has played against al-hilal twice in the league, twice in the afc champions league, once in a friendly cup before the season, once in the super cup, and has lost every time. So it could be an ittihad fan who's upset about all of this, not just this one match
- the player is a known troublemaker, and is generally hated by most rival fans, and even some ittihad fans

If they’re using metal detectors and aren’t patting down people, one can easily pass through with a whip or a baton.
