How to replace BMW i3 shocks

Wait till the front bolts snap off, that’s fun! 😨
The sacrificial corrosion within the top mounts and the chassis is absolutely off the charts and you might find a weird gel substance in there . never seen anything like it in any car I’ve worked on

Already did the front… and yes 5 out of 6 bolts has snapped off, that was fun… NOT! Had to drill the frame and put helicoil in, fun times.

For the labour involved, and because it’s about the only thing that’s cheap on a BMW, I’d have changed the bump stops. I’d also put a smear of grease on the top mount. Aluminium corrosion eats them. Just wait until you see the fronts with the top mount bearing!

FFS do not hold the spring like that when applying the compressors. One day they will let go and it may well be the last thing you do.

Get the proper pucks to go in the jack mounts. You will split them doing that. Or is that why your monocle is Bad Mechanic. Best Dave

Yes these are the rear ones. Be careful with the front ones when undoing the top bolts, they snap very easily.
