VERY IMPORTANT: I recommend you look at the part numbers on your existing shocks and struts to figure out if you have the sports suspension or not so that you know what to order. I have the sports suspension so this is what I ordered:
    Front struts:
31316786003 Left front strut sports suspension
31316786004 right front strut sports suspension
31331094749 BMW Mini Strut Dust Sleeve - Febi Bilstein
    31306775098 BMW Strut Mount - Lemforder 2700101
    Rear shocks:
    33526771729 Rear shock sports suspension
33536767335 BMW Shock Bump Stop - Febi Bilstein
33506771737 BMW Shock Mount - Lemforder
33506771738 BMW Shock Mount - Lemforder
33526768544 BMW E9X 3-Series Rear Shock Mount OEM
As always, visit www.realoem.com to figure out exactly which part numbers belong to your car by looking up your VIN number.
    Good luck!

I no longer own a E46. Regardless, I remember how much time, money, and headaches this channel saved me from. Because of that appreciation i will still continue to stay subbed and like every video you post.
Thanks a lot for helping me through the wonderful journey of owning two E46s!

Not just him, also Road Kill or many other channels. I think it's a good idea to see a preview of what you're gonna see in the next half hour, because you lose the most people in the first 30 seconds.

Thanks for this, been trying to figure out how to get the spring compressed right to get this done and I think this is it. (using on my e90, but still very useful). Now hopefully the right side takes 1/3 time as the left

Good video, suspension can be a huge pita and watching yours made it easier for my job. The most important thing is to lower the control arms so that you can get the strut enough room to slide into the knuckle.

Maybe stupid question, i am now watching your great video.
I saw you have to hammer hub quite a lot before you get shock removed.
I would put big flathead screwdriver in that groove with hammer, to spread it. Then shock is much more easy to remove.
At least in E46 series it helps.
Second thing, maybe good idea to use some lubricant spray on spring compressors. Some people said you should only use hand tools when you tight spring compressors, not impact.

    • @50sKid
      @50sKid  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

On the front shocks, the bump stop is not supposed to be mainly tucked into the bellows, but stick out the top so you put it in upside down

Bilstein B4's are easier to fit as a DIY as they don't need such high compression of the spring, they do a m-sport version as well.

Hi 50s KID, Can you help me please? "I replaced the valve cover gasket and after starting the engine, it started to hum and the engine ran as if a cylinder was misfiring. The humming noise comes from the CCV tube that goes into the valve cover. When I disconnect it, there is pressure coming from the tube that causes the humming. When I block the tube with my hand, the engine runs well. Do you know how to solve this problem?" Thanks Joseph
