    Speaking of a good crew, it's invaluable having guys you don't have to babysit and just get sh!t done and can think for themselves. Every crew needs a Mike too.

    Great to see everyone is roped in. All it takes is one fall from that roof to realize how important when they fall. Saving one life shows
    these guys you care about their safety. Very good to be safe to survive to work another day.
    I grew up in northeastern wisconsin. That snow is very dense and heavy to move It has to be removed from those roofs before more snow falls to damage or collapse the roofs. That snow is very dense and heavy much different from the light and fluffy stuff earlier in the season.
    Snow falling in the very cold is much different from snow falling just below 32. Over time with warm temps the snow melts from the top and refreezes below. It just gets denser and heavier day after day.
    The spring and the big snow melt are coming soon.

  • @skywatcherca
    @skywatcherca ปีที่แล้ว +5

    All or at least some of this snow melt water needs to be directed to south CA where they are in a huge multi-year drought.

  • @pushpipe
    @pushpipe ปีที่แล้ว +13

    for your roof jobs, perhaps a snow/ice saw would be able to cut bigger blocks to move and increase efficiency for moving that much snow. it appears to be dense enough to hold together

    • @jimbob4456
      @jimbob4456 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      That’s what I was thinking. Tough job either way

    • @tlepp2876
      @tlepp2876 ปีที่แล้ว

      lay down giant heating blankets/tarps over all the flat roofs and plug them in. That would be cool. not efficient, but cool

    • @FirelightFictionProd
      @FirelightFictionProd ปีที่แล้ว

      Probably more of an issues of where to put larger blocks. Small portions can be dropped onto the street without causing damage to anything. The main problem the mountain is facing, followed by tools and manpower, is simply where to move the snow to.

    On that von’s roof: you could get one of those gas powered wake winch or a capstan winch, then use those heavy duty utility sleds, load that sled(s) and then use the winch to zip it to the edge. Flip the sled and repeat…..I’m just the idea guy x) good luck!

    Feel your pain ive been through some crazy winters here in south central ak,you guys need to start blocking your snow with 24" or larger hand saws cut to fill one big scoop push shovel, in valdez they block snow with street signs with bent sides and a handle cut in the top them slide the block of the roof on a visquene slide, good luck

    I live outside the Boston area and in February of 2015, we had 7 feet of snow during the month. We were running out of places to put it with only 7 feet. I can't even begin to imagine trying to find places with all the snow you have gotten and continue to get. Great job all and please, stay safe, especially those roof shovelers!

  • @robgeronimo8478

    Seems there’s going to be years of repair work after this. Why roofs are not a different design is a question I have. Being clear of vents and solar panels I guess the Government will be handing out checks to replace all the green free energy. After lot go to the local landfill 200 miles away

    When they had guys do the hospital roof here and some others they used big tarps to dump snow on then slide to edge .seemed a bit more efficient that just each guy pushing the snow individually. They are all gonna be so toned from moving all that snow ! Let’s pray the next system breaks up with totals

    • @gobbletegook
      @gobbletegook ปีที่แล้ว

      there are 5 foot high parapet walls to get it over. More poor design/building codes in the area. If the walls did not go all around the perimeter, they could push it off, but its like they made that roof into a giant swimming pool.

      I've delayed my trip down there several times now on account of the relentless snowfall there. I'm aiming for first week of April but that might get washed out too. I didn't buy tire chains this season so I'm trying to avoid driving on icy roads there, which has been pretty much constant for the past three months. I hate to think it'll be May before I can get down there but it just might.

    Hi guys ,I have been watching you and I must admit I'm impressed with your stamina and diligence. Not sure if this would help but when the sun is shining try mirrors to help melt that stuff. The sun used right is a powerful weapon. You can get big sheets of mirror on flexible plastic which if you concave the will increase the suns power. Would be a very cool experiment and some fun content..try it, sun can be your best helper.
