Some have said it's a 1,000 FEET down to the river gorge below. Yet Colorado Department of Transportation(snowplowing, avalanche debris removal, and road repair responsibility) keeps this highway open yearlong, except for avalanches. They also keep this open because of a major north/south highway in Southwestern Colorado. The local people say, "keep your eyes on the road and don't look towards the gorge because you find yourself in trouble". With all that said, there's all kinds of vehicles traverse this highway especially in the summer months. Back in the early 1980s I took a physical geography course at a local junior college. One of the topics of discussion was how weather patterns may change in a warming global environment. There are, that's why Bonshare model houses are no longer allowed to be built. The really wet, hard packed snow tends to stick to most roofing materials, even metal. Despite well angled roofs, no matter how much snow we get here (Ontario, Canada) we have to go up on the roof every year, about mid-winter in February, to remove it. Just part of life I guess:) The eavestroughs also prevent snow from sliding off naturally.

I've stayed at that Motel 6 which is often sold out when skiing is good. Not sure where he's going to go w/ 395 in such bad shape (maybe closed?). He will be thanking Ullr when he gets back to LA.
I managed to get out of mammoth today by 11AM. I heard the blizzard and visibility got worse by noon. Luckily people weren’t driving to close to each other while heading out
How come you don't use a stick welder, get some hard surface rods and put a bead of hard surfacing on your tire chains, on the links that get the most wear? You'll get a lot more wear out of your chains. You do a good job.
I am surprised no one has thought of an automatic snow removal system for roofs. For roofs with a pitch some slick plastic to lay down for winter months. Or even a roof heating system to melt the snow off.

@@billyrayvalentine7972 yea, we moved, and used to keep a stockpile of plywood at the old house for windows. Unfortunately, we did not keep that stash, and just spent a grand on plywood….
Simply unbelievable. Gotta be a near or record year. Insane.
Is there no requirement for the roof pitches on all structures to be adequate to shed naturally?
There are recommendations not requirements. As long as structurally. It can hold the weight they can make a flat roof.
Many roofs use heating elements too.
This insane we here in Cleveland had hardly any snow this yr this is very rare please be safe
Jeeeeez! I bet you and your crew are so over this by now. I love snow and winter, but this is a bit much.
Looks like 2022-2023 just might break the record of 668.5 inches that happened in 2010-2011 season.
@Mammoth Mountain Life, you guys are keeping the town moving. Keep grinding & stay safe!
Pelayo Services, LLC has some crews there doing snow removal as well.
Great vid, I was expecting to see a mountain sled in the garage.
Prayers for all
Some real Lame people for being out in it..leaving cars anywhere and causing problems. Take care...you guys Rock 👍👍👍👍
Absolutely nuts.
Well I watched weather today and by Friday WARM rain coming. It's going to be interesting 😟😟🙏🙏
so incredible! yes you have earned Hawaii! the whole crew. (just getting bearings is house the office too? or do you keep all that equipment and gear at a diff location/garage?)
Keep up the mental strength 💪
I've stayed at that Motel 6 which is often sold out when skiing is good. I'm sure the management and guests were really happy you were able to clear one of the two ways in - driveways on slopes can be so hairy when weather happens. Not sure where he's going to go w/ 395 in such bad shape (maybe closed?). He will be thanking Ullr when he gets back to LA.
Can’t wait to see what mammoth looks like in the summer. But at this rate you will still have snow on the ground in July.
Yeah, I seen a guy snowmobiling on a field south of Mammoth Lakes in late July, 2019. There was 15 FEET of snow on the ground then.
It's normative for Mammoth to be open through July 4 weekend. It's fun to go up on Memorial day weekend, too.
Dude that 5th floor snow removal looks so sketchy, man I would be freaked out even tied in.
I managed to get out of mammoth today by 11AM. I heard the blizzard and visibility got worse by noon. Luckily people weren’t driving to close to each other while heading out
Your dogs have got THE best lives...
Hope this insane snow storm kick out remaining payments on your cool heavy machines 👍😄
So it looks like I won't be going up the 395 to Oregon for a little longer 😕 maybe I could make it to Tom's Place and camp 🤣 take care, Mike
I miss Mammoth I used to be chairlift operator, Hansel and Gretel run many years ago
Can't believe the number of people driving around. That's nuts. How are much sleep and food are your guys getting? That's hard work.
Very little sleep at the moment
You should see 80, these towns amp up in snow, not shut down. Many people need to get out to ski.
good work bro.
Great video! Enjoy Hawaii ✌️
1:30. They have them in a 3 foot version now. Same exact jaws.
Just so surreal 😳
Hey MML,
When all that snow starts to melt, what new adventures are going to occur? or y’all going to just float sown the mountain?
How come you don't use a stick welder, get some hard surface rods and put a bead of hard surfacing on your tire chains, on the links that get the most wear? You'll get a lot more wear out of your chains. You do a good job.
This season is just insane! Sadie has to get that dog salon stink off her.
Going to Maui …. Be cool you definitely need vacation
The condo fees for snow maintenance are going to be crazy this year.
I’ve been saying this for years: snow is a four letter word
Big bear needs people like all you
Yeah, if we were so busy up here, we could easily hammer that down
25:30...Haha. The worse it gets, people just have to go out in it. Usually unprepared as well.
Your whole crew should be in Hawaii with you!!!
I am surprised no one has thought of an automatic snow removal system for roofs. For roofs with a pitch some slick plastic to lay down for winter months. Or even a roof heating system to melt the snow off.
They have, a heat element
12:30 "see if we can get them out" haha
Sadie never runs so fast except in powder lol
Powder snow is snow that falls at 15 degrees or colder.
Damn this is almost like 2012 the movie. Will it ever stop
