    Showing the Gamo Viper Express (s71.co/3OvReas), a .22 caliber break barrel pellet gun. The Viper is also capable of firing mini shotgun shells filled with bird shot (s71.co/3FLTiXZ). Trigger pull is 3.53 lbs., cocking force is 30 lbs. Maximum velocity is listed as 750 FPS using light alloy pellets. I use Gamo Luxor Hunting Pellets (s71.co/3BxtDAd). It is equipped with front bead sight, and a 11mm dovetail rail allows for mounting a scope or red dot sight. The birdshot capability is a bonus, mostly useful against snakes or small fast creatures or to minimize collateral damage indoors. For a higher velocity rifle in .177, consider the Gamo Varmint (s71.co/3qeNeR1), and in .22 The Gamo Swarm Bone Collector (s71.co/38lQYuB).

    I love the simplicity of the Gamo cocking mechanism vs using air source or CO2.

    It's so cool you did a review on this model. A friend of mine has one that's pretty old now, I guess he's had it well over ten years. When I first saw it I thought it was coolest air gun I'd ever seen. And he had several boxes of those shells. He owns a private airport and uses it in the hangars to shoot pigeons and rats, but mostly pigeons that get in there. It will drop a pigeon instantly at 5 or 6 yards no problem. I thought it was so cool, and wanted to get one just for fun, but they had quit making them. I don't know if they ever brought them back or not.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives
      @WeAllJuggleKnives  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's awesome. One reason I got it is because I read some reviews citing usefulness like that, clearing pests with minimal collateral damage :]

  • @kurt9994

    Nice review. Without looking it up I think this originally came out somewhere around 2009.I know there were a lot of problems with the breech seals being damaged quickly causing obvious problems. I believe they actually stopped production of it for a while and then brought it back due to customer demand. I actually almost purchased one a couple of years ago but they had just sold the last one so I ended up getting something different. Anyway, I read that it's recommended you tilt the barrel toward the ground when you're loading at least specifically the shot shells and also close the barrel while it's pointed down. According to the article this reduces the chance of the breach seal being torn. Apparently there was a tendency of the shotshell I believe to come back out slightly as the barrel was being closed rubbing the breach seal in the process. Thanks again for the video.

      Welcome! This definitely has a lot of history, I've seen vids from 13 years back on it, it had a rocky reception at first, but then it developed a cult following, and it is still in production to this day, however they often sell out, so half the year it is out of stock.

      @@WeAllJuggleKnives do you remember when pyramid Air, perhaps others, offered a upgrade to a nitro piston when you ordered it? It didn't really show an increase of power on their website but as you know there's a few advantages with the Piston as opposed to the spring. I checked with pyramid Air and they advised me they no longer offer the upgrade. Have you checked out the new 20 gauge shotgun I think it's called the primal by umarex? If you haven't it's a PCP it's supposed to be released any day now I believe and is suitable for big game. I hope you have a good night.

      I'm glad it was timely! This one definitely requires some mulling over. I watched all the reviews first. I'm glad I picked it up! In the end, I concluded it was worth it just as a nice pellet gun, the shot shells are just a bonus option that is nice to have. This weighs about 5.5 pounds, whereas my Bone Collector is over 9 pounds, so, to me, the Viper feels super fast and light, very easy to carry through the woods and maneuver.

    I use mine for Red Squirrel control at up to 20 feet with the factory loads.
    I reload the empty shells with #8 shot and homemade wads.
    This is limited to pest control only and not powerful enough for game animals.

    • @WeAllJuggleKnives

      With a pointed .22 hunting pellet at close range it would kill a squirrel or small bird. The shotshells would not kill a squirrel reliably, they would only kill a mouse, small frog, small snake, very small bird, at room distances. Definitely cannot kill a duck.
