    What do YOU think is going on with Ashton??

    • @isaiahwelch8066
      @isaiahwelch8066 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      My suspicion is, Ashton is basically the demi-god version of the Earth Primordial.
      The reason why I say this is because he passively absorbed the chaotic nature of the failed ritual that he was present for as a child. And when he was killed, early on in the campaign (per Ashton's own recounting of what happened), and he basically had a dodecahedron inserted into his head, the dodecahedron awakened the primordial side of him, that primordial spark.
      Basically, imagine The Thing from Fantastic Four, and the accident in space that created him, and you get Ashton in Critical Role. Plus, Taliesin is a self-admitted comic book nerd, so it wouldn't surprise me to learn that The Thing is what inspired Ashton's character creation, with a bit of chaos thrown in.
      That being said, we may get a second visit to Terra at some point, where Keyleth visited on her Aramente during C1. To my knowledge, it is the entry point the Elemental Plane of Earth, so Ashton may go there at some point to find out more about the Hishari and what exactly the ritual was, and what the Hishari was trying to accomplish with that ritual.

    • @Dragonited
      @Dragonited ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @isaiahwelch8066 He did not get a dodecahedron inserted. When Milo tried to save Ashtons life, he saw the bottle of extracted possibilty that Ashton picked up at the Hexon manor and held onto when he got attacked and thrown out the balcony. Milo took that bottle and in desperation he poured it into Ashtons broken skull.

      @@Dragonited I don't think he meant an actual Dodecahedron, just the Hedron juice he was fed as he lay dying kind of merged with his titan blood to make him what he is. Essentially saying a dodecahedron in his head via the essence of it

    A couple of observations.
    One, I've noticed a pattern during the campaign: More and more, what's going on seems to be heavily based on the Greek mythos in some respects. After looking at the CR Wiki, I really think that Predathos is CR's version of Chronos, who Zeus and his brothers fought.
    Second, is it me, or do we have characters in this campaign that seem to be based on Marvel characters!? Here is my list, see what you think:
    1) Ashton: The Thing from Fantastic Four
    2) Imogen: Combination of Sue Storm from Fantastic Four and Jean Grey from X-Men
    3) Orym: Captain America
    4) Chetney: Wolverine, X-Men
    5) Laudna: Combination of Deadpool and Rogue (X-Men)
    6) FCG: Vision
    7) Fearne: Loki, God of Mischief

      I would say that the party has some qualities of the heroes u mentioned, and its very possible they took some inspiration. They are thier own thing since to each of those heroes u could name a bunch of qualities that the marvel heroes dont have.
      And to the other part that it reminds u of greek mythology (but the fact that chronos and other titans were parents of the greek gods does not fit the C3 story a bit), i would also sprinkle in a bit of norse mythology. Where the gods and their mortal champions are trying to stop Ragnarok, the day when all gods were to perish. Also Predathos reminds me a bit of Fenris, The wolf that would consume the gods.

    • @isaiahwelch8066
      @isaiahwelch8066 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@miafiolekova5817 : I can see the Norse connection. But I mentioned Greek mythology, because one, Matt has used Latin names, which are Roman, and Rome took its mythos from Greece; and two, in the Greek mythos, Chronos actually did devour two gods, two of Zeus' brothers. It took the Titans and Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon to subdue him.

    • @miafiolekova5817
      @miafiolekova5817 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@isaiahwelch8066if i remember correctly my greek mythology (and please correct me if i am wrong) Chronos was the most powerfull of the titans and he knew his children (the gods) would be more powerfull then him and thats why he ate them. I kind of dont remember why the other titans turned on him with the gods tho.
      Also in C3 Predathos has no blood conection to the gods of exandria. He was described as an apex predator that hunts them right?
      In any case Matt is great for making a great story.

    My problem with Keyleth hating on the Matron - Vax was dead & I don't think he was coming back from this one. She offered him to go to peace but HE chose to go back, & end Vecna. I think the Matron did everything she could for him - but he ALWAYS was reckless - I think he got a little
    Over confident - they all did and kind of figured oh - they are powerful & bring me back. But - he was the HERO and ran blindly into danger without a thought. I think his thread was cut on the path he was on.
    She went against her "when your life is over, ITS OVER and she gave him time not just to take out Vecna but also to be with his family, lighten the bloe and to prepare himself and then... For his death.
    I think the RQ cared for him like "son" not romanticly in any way - he had been talking to someone about it & he said, "she feels like family, like a sister. WOW the RQ felt like family.
    She , and the RQ clergy, seemed to really care for him, Not like oh I worship you, but like family, I mrsn they went into mourning for him... The cleric really was hurting.
    I also think over the years.... Vax & Kiki started seeing each other again on the DL. Well not from the RQ but from everyone else. I mean - I've been thinking Vax had magic but I don't think he could aparate - he was there doing his Uber Rogue thing.
    I also think he was in Zephra, PURVING on with Kiki.
    I think hanging around Vax for 30 or so years - gave her back some humanity & empathy. She didn't want a miserable Champion, so I think Our Lady gave the OK. OR at least didn't say no or prevent him to have his love.
    Because she's learned empathy - think she's going to sacrifice her life for him and Exandria. When we first heard of her she seemed cold caring but cold & maybe she needed someone like Vax to see not only do you not need to be cold ,but caring in the last moments of someone's Life especially if they are afraid of in great pain. It would be wonderful to have a mother escort you to your next life. (All head cannon but I think alot of it is true). So she will sacrifice her life and I think some how - maybe she does a seeding ritual for Vax ,- Maybe her time is up and needs to leave it in his hands.
    I think she is one of the Gods who shows up - in her weird way. I think shes extremely benevolent - as she took this "job" to rid the world of something evil... Anyway that's how I see it.
    Keyleth needs someone to blame - but it was Vecna not OLR who killed him.
    Just my humble opinion....

    • @miafiolekova5817
      @miafiolekova5817 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would agree, tbh some actions and character flaws of Keyleth kind of annoyed me. Blaming the Matron for Vax is one. Maybe she was angry at the Matron because she was the one who claimed Vax at the end (when he left with her after the battle of Vassleheim) and in her eyes and thats why she dislikes her. (I would compare it to for example friends are all pranking you, but u snap at 1 friends prank and get angry at him even tho others did the same or even worse. At least thats how i think Kiki sees it.) In the end its human nature (even tho she is half-elf :D) to find someone to blame to eas our own sorrow. So i may not like how she thinks about the Matron, i understand it. And in the end, it makes Keyleth more real as a person, flaws and all. And not just some super powerfull flawless leader. But as a person in a position of power that has to deal with her own sorrows and problems any way she can.

      I don't think she HATES the Matron, per se; Keyleth has expressed that she realizes how important the Prime Deities are to the world... But she's certainly bitter, and not without reason. She loved Vax dearly, and she could truly be herself around him. And now he's stuck acting as the Matron's grim reaper, policing those that would abuse the boundaries between life and death. And from the way they ended at the fist battle of the maleus key there seems to be a chance they are gonna lose.
      Also the other campaigns had fixed paths, VM was always gonna fight the Chroma Conclave since the time they killed Brimscythe. They were gonna face Vecna since the moment Briarwoods showed up. M9 were gonna fight the Somnovem right from the start since Matt said that he decided right from the start that the 9 eyes on Molly are gonna be the big bad. It may have seemed more loose in those campaigns because the high stakes were not clear so early in C3 they were already faced with end of world shit from around episode 30 where as in the other 2 campaigns the big bad was clear way later.

    Alright, put your tinfoil hats on: In campaign 1 we find out about the divine gate. In calamity we find out that the tree of names was creating a proto divine gate around Exandria. Campaign 3 we find a similar thing around Ruidus. So my hot take: These divine gate structures are something that the gods and Predathos (whatever it is) cannot cross. However, that is not their main purpose. The main purpose is to protect the gods from what is within the divine gate structures.
    The timeline: Gods and primordials create the gate structure around Ruidus to contain Predathos after 2 gods were eaten. The tree of names was stitching a new gate around Exandria during the calamity while other cities were looking into means of killing gods. To top is off one mortal was able to ascend to godhood, Personally I think this is why the schism between prime and betrayer gods occurred. When the fighting was over, the saw mortals as a new threat and contained them with the divine gate. The one unifying motivating factor, was recently confirmed by the change bringer, The gods fear death.
    Predathos eats 2 gods = Gods and primordials banish and contain him on a rock sent into space. Human kills a god and becomes one = Gods contain mortals with the divine gate, yes mortals can pass through, but they cannot kill a god. Predathos is going to be unleashed? = All the gods are working together to an extent. At least a truce.
