You are one of my 2024 favs…I watch all your videos as soon as I see them. Am recovering from emergency surgery and trying to catch up on what I missed while in the hospital. Thanks for all you do and I hope everyone has a great 2025. Was SO nice to put a face to the voice!
It is so nice to put a face with the voice. I love love your videos. I have to have a dose of your ideas everyday. I watch and rewatch them. Your ideas are a step above. My name is Rickie from the Pacfic Northwest in Washington. It has been about a year now working on junk journals and found a new love. I really need to work on a how to organize my stuff. I have to confess I am a bit of a messy crafter. LoL
I have just started junk journaling. I found your channel and I love it. I really love your big book of ideas. My name is Teresa and I live in Western Kentucky.
My first essential tools were just about always frin the house. First cutting surface? Phone book then an extra kitchen cutting board. Scissors, blades? Hair scissors, poultry shears and exacto from hubby too box. Ruler was an old wood school model. Used these for quite a while. Most recent purchases? Reverse tweezers, great TH 9" and cutter bee scissors. Of course I've expanded in the last 20 yrs. I'm sorta glad the variety of things weren't available - it can really add up.
Thank you for sharing your favorite tools, supplies and junk. I got that little letter maker and punch set from Temu about 6 months ago and it's the only corner punch I have. I love my guillotine paper cutter but may get one similar to yours someday. I hope a bookbinding kit is in my near future. And are you a double nickel? I'll be a double nickel on Friday!
Hi suzy here. I think you covered it all and more. Nice to see you in the flesh always nice to put a face with a fav creator. I've really enjoyed your content and your welcoming personality especially during lives which I really enjoy. This was quite a comprehensive video. But my advice to newbies is go slow and use the simple things at first like your tag corner template and corrugated cardboard stamp for lines. Definitely a binder kit. Scissors, box cutter, ruler and good glue. I love my papercutter and a small scoreboard is very handy.😊❤
You can sharpen the blade on your guillotine cutter by cutting thin strips of sanding paper. I use 100-120 grit, although I've also done it successfully with 200 grit. Very cheap. Also sharpens scissors. Thanks to Martha Stewart for teaching me this trick years and years ago.
This is really helpful! I’ve done all kinds of crafting for many years and have acquired a lot of helpful tools and it’s great to see which things you use the most before I get anything new. I’ve never tried the Toni’s studio scissors but I’m developing some hand pain so I appreciate your info on those. Great video!
You are my favorite creator because you are awesome, and I feel like you explain things better, especially for beginners like me. I feel you make it fun for me personally
I'm Erin in Colorado and have always be super intimidated by Junk Journaling but always wanted to try it. I don't remember how I found your channel but I just want to say thank you so much for making this craft feel really accessible and less intimidating. Surely I have a LOT of practice before I am really thrilled by anything, but it has been fun to start trying.
This was a wonderful addition to your video collection! I can’t wait for the next two . I have been making a big book of junk journaling ideas by following along with your video collection. Absolutely love all your work! Also do the monthly projects and am loving all the items so much! 😊Thank you so much for all you do!!
I’m from Ohio. Been junk journaling for about a year and a half but made cards and scrapbooks for years….i love anything paper related! Plan to really dive in when I retire this coming summer! Thanks for the great information.💕
Good to see you in person on the screen DJ, I need help with just keeping my craft stuff tidy. I don't have a craft room it's all done on my living room coffee table. Love all your tools, I like the deckled edged scissors too, I have heaps of them. My favorite pair are the postage stamp edged scissors also my mini guillotine is my fav too and my Martha Stewart score board as well.
Fun to see all your favorites! I've been interested in gelli plates for decades and just think I'll make my own sometime. I need to do that! I love my Cricut and my sewing machines (many!). I like your idea of plastic spatula thing for adhering glue well. Makes good sense! Good review! Thanks!!
I loved this video! I need to take a good look around to see what I don’t use often and see if I want to incorporate them in my journals in the coming year 😊 I watched this on my iPad so I could follow the links on my phone to see if I “needed” anything… and I did! LOL 😂❤
Hi DJ, it was nice to see your face. Makes it more personal, that is my opinion anyway. I have been junk journaling for a couple of years now and have several journals and lots of supplies (more than I need). It is great to see the supplies that others use. I have spent way too much money on things I don't even remember buying. My goal this coming year is to use more of what I have and limit my spending. Thanks so much for sharing, have a great day.
DJ i finally made time to watch this video and really enjoyed it, I have collected a ton of tools and supplies over the last year and have finally emptied out a spare bedroom of two twin beds an odds and ends and have set up a craft room with tables and storage. I still need a color printer for the digital kits. I have a ton of craft papers that I have bought cheap at sales.
Hi DJ thank you for this very informative video! My favourite new thing going into 2025 is my new printer it was a Christmas gift from hubby!❤️ what’s really funny is around a year ago I was also looking for a small scoreboard as I have to work at the kitchen table and exactly the same thing happened to me with the punch. I didn’t realise for weeks what it was for now I use it all the time to make envelopes and punch notches in pockets too! 😂😂😂😂😂 I also love my Tim Holtz scissors and won’t use any other now!
Hi! I'm Lana from SE Iowa! I know you are supposed to start with what you have. I am new to junk Journaling. I have made one with the cover of an old vintage English book. For the binding thread I took 3 strands of regular embroidery thread and dipped it in clear wax and laid it out straight on wax paper and let it dry for a day or two. It worked great!
Im accumulated so many supplies that my husband is considering building me a craft room just off our new bedroom we are fixing to build onto our house this spring
Thanks DJ! This was such a great video! I've got a Cricut but don't find myself inspired to use it very often and was wondering since you said you use yours a lot if maybe in the future you could do some sort of a video where you feature uses for the Cricut type machines.
Hello, I'm fairly new to junk journaling. I started back in June-July, and i love it so much. I have made about 10 journals since i started. I'm from Southeast Missouri .
I have been thinking of ways to junk journal when we travel in the RV. How do you transport/ store the stuff you bring? I would like to put together an easy to grab kit. Loved the video and adore your channel!
Hey DJ!! Just watched the replay of the last Live then saw this video… You are soo pretty!!! Happy to see your face on camera!!! I’ve been sick as a dog… I got to see and hold Huntleigh once when I thought I’d kicked this cold… yea, well I thought wrong!!! Put me back in bed with medication!!! Pretty sure I’m over it now but taking time to be certain. Everyone is fine with that except that interested fella who is quickly making himself more of a nuisance than pleasant. He whines that he can’t see me, jokingly threatenes he’s gonna bang on my door and wants to keep me on the phone nearly hourly. I’m just too old to place his wants before my needs. lol I suppose if I were younger I maybe more tolerant but I’m just not. 🙄 My goal is to get well so I can snuggle that precious bundle of sweetness. Her Daddy dotes upon her like no one saw happening!!! 😍 Hannah had to go to ER, they gave her 3 epidurals that didn’t work and she was having horrible headaches! They gave her some treatment and she’s finally feeling better. Enjoying her daughter. Yay!! Any who, that’s what’s been happening here in southeast TX. Finding this video with you on camera was such a surprise and delight!! Thanx so much! You’re going over rulers (decale?) now. Sending affection n hugs to you. ❤️😍❤️
CONGRATULATIONS BOBBI!! 🎉🎉🎉I had no idea the little one had made their appearance. How wonderful!! So sorry are under the weather. I was not happy to have gotten sick but almost over it sans a small lingering cough. Wow your gentleman friend needs to relax!! He knows he has a star that’s why ya see. 😊😀 well I am so glad you are on the mend and so happy to see your comment. Thank you for the compliment. I’m hoping you will get to hold your great grandbaby again very soon. Sending out a big hug to you and good vibes for speedy healing. ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you for the tip! I did know about it for sharpening scissors but never thought about it for the guillotine trimmer so I’ll give it a try. 😊
Tim Holtz have scissors for lefties, and yes game changers for fussy cutting. The tools for the trade. Gotta have them 😊
Good to know. Thank you for adding that. 😊
Very helpful ❤❤❤❤
Awesome video! Thanks for taking the time to review your faves!
You’re welcome! Hope you enjoyed the video and the little tour of them. 😊
I use these all the time!😃

Great video. Learned a lot as a newbie to JJ. ✌
I am so glad you are here! Welcome to the JJ world. 😊 hope you have a blast!

Genius! Love the waxing idea. You can also run it over a beeswax candle if you have one.
@@hitherandyonstudiothat's a great idea too! Thanks for the tip!
You are a great teacher. I’m new.
Welcome! Thank you. I hope you find some helpful tips here. 😊
Im accumulated so many supplies that my husband is considering building me a craft room just off our new bedroom we are fixing to build onto our house this spring
Oooooo how cool. I hope it happens!!
I think the punch you use for pockets can also be used for rounding corners, just use the other side.
It can yes. I show it off in the video. Thank you so much for watching. 😊
And I have accumulated alot since starting I had some when I started because I tried to scrapbook but gave up.
Thanks DJ! This was such a great video! I've got a Cricut but don't find myself inspired to use it very often and was wondering since you said you use yours a lot if maybe in the future you could do some sort of a video where you feature uses for the Cricut type machines.
That is a great idea for a future video! Will do!!
Hello, I'm fairly new to junk journaling. I started back in June-July, and i love it so much. I have made about 10 journals since i started. I'm from Southeast Missouri .
How fun. How are you liking junk journaling?
I find it so much fun and it's a relaxing hobby
Thank you I found that so interesting.
WooHoo!!
💜
You can find them at Michael's.😃
I love my pair of cutter bee scissors they are my favorite ones
They are great. Just can’t use them for fussy cutting a lot.
Hi DJ😃
Ho!!
When I first started, I purchased, just a couple of years ago, a lot of scrapbook paper. I don't need them, I use a lot of the digital down loads.
I use a lot of digitalis too but I do love my paper packs as well
I am currently using a cross stitching needle for book binding
I’ve used those before! Start where you are with whatever you have. 😀
I got that score board from Temu & I love it
I have been thinking of ways to junk journal when we travel in the RV. How do you transport/ store the stuff you bring? I would like to put together an easy to grab kit.
Loved the video and adore your channel!
Thank you so much. I love to use a tote bag to carry my must haves. It’s compact enough and can hold a lot of tools and supplies.
Love this, DJ!! Thanks for sharing!!
So happy you enjoyed it! Thank you for watching 😊
I found my sewing machine in a resell shop in my town
Awesome! There are some really good deals and finds out there if you look. Thanks for watching and commenting 😊
I probably have at least 10 different pairs of scissors, or more.😂
So funny
I to have 6 different size scissors I regularly use
I have misplaced both of my reverse tweezers and it is driving me nuts.
Oh no! I hope you find them soon 😊
Where did you get the v punch
I mention it in the video. There is a link in the description too. 😀
@hitherandyonstudio thank you
