Pretty much yes. I figured since this video is a couple years old that the software used would have been updated. I used magisk v27.0, and the android image file was the second newest one in the list on the site provided based on the build number. I just followed exactly what he explained step by step and it worked. I was half expecting something to fail but it was fine. Even the bootloop issue he mentioned sort of happened but after a couple reboot cycles it booted fine.

I just want to add that when I did this today, I came across an issue where even a factory reset didn't fix the bootloop.
Turns out the reason was because I had downloaded the wrong version of the Pixel 6 Pro image.
Because google pulled the December 2021 update from the images page, but my Pixel shipped with it, I downloaded and tried to flash the October update.
This meant my boot image was incompatible, and recovering involved flashing the entire software image from October and starting again.

The reason why I love android, the level of control and the fact that devs allow you to truly make the device, yours. Even though after switching to the OP8 Pro, I really haven't had the need to root my device like back in the day, I do seriously miss it.
The plethora of ROM choices, the advanced levels of Substratum customization, Xposed modules, Audio engines. However, I've had my fair share of headaches and unstable roms over the course of the last decade but I can't deny your video has reignited the itch!
Why you do this to me Sam!

    • @trtertretererterterter510

Fixed the module issue. It was because of the canary magisk app. After I used ur canary app to mod the boot file and all that when the phone running I then get magisk to download the stable version of the app then I uninstall the app then I go to file a manger downloads and install the app. And the modules now load.

On Android 13 pixel 6, I cannot find any .img file in the archive... I'm kinda lost. Imma check the Google manual page and come back if I can find a solution, in case anyone else is facing this issue !
UPDATE : On the Factory Images page, I couldn't see the downloads because I didn't accepted the conditions (bottom of the page) so I downloaded an OTA image, which don't work the same. Google now advice us to use OTA images, but it won't work the same way for this tutorial.
TLDR : Just accept the conditions at the bottom of the Factory image page and download the right image

This method will allow you to install OTA updates?
Can I follow this same method on my Pixel 4a?

This method doesn't work anymore with the pixel 7 pro. Play services gets unhides it self in the magiks app after a reboot. Will there be a updated version for Android 13?

I'm not gonna Root my Google Pixel 6 until Google pushes out the January Update to fix a lot of the problem's the Phone's are having I haven't even been using my Google Pixel 6 as my daily Phone yet I've still been using my Google Pixel 4a 5G because at least I know my Pixel 4a 5G is reliable and doesn't drop call's or have other problem's like the Pixel 6 does. Honestly I'm really disappointed in Google for how they are handling this I understand it takes some time to fix these issues but it shouldn't take until near the end of January to push out a Update but once the Update is pushed out I should be able to use my Pixel 6 as my daily Phone and Root it at least I hope because I didn't just get the Phone for it to sit on my desk.

In 2021 totally useless people. You can brick your phone and plenty of apps stop working. Rooting was justified 5 to 10 years ago to gain performance, but performance is not an issue in 2021. You have adblockers that work fine with a non rooted phone, like blokada.
