To me a wonderfully charismatic sound. I love it, I've had my 718 for 4 months now and prefer the sound, the performance, the handling and the looks to my 987S. Each to has own I guess. I really want to like the graphite blue, yet every time I've seen it in person, didn't thnk much if it. Yet I still want to like it, ha, can't seem to write it off. Still can't make up my mind on the damn wheel options, 18, 19, or 20?
I got the graphite blue metallic (or is it metallic graphite blue?)....whatever. I get compliments on the color of my car everywhere I go. It picks up the color of the environment. If the sky is gray, the car is gray. It its sunny out, the car turns slightly blue. Drive in a forest, it turns slightly green. Sort of chameleon-like, you might say.
+gbriank1 Very good question. It differs from market to market. What is great, that in Germany, the standard equipment of the 718 Boxster is seats covered with Alcantara/leatherette mix! That's outstanding for a Porsche. In the US, the standard equipment is a mix of faux and real leather. Well, better than nothing. You should not go for the supersport seats as they are only available with genuine leather, so always stick with the standard seats. Way better solution than in the 911 where you can only get genuine leather unless you go for the GTS version with Alcantara mix (and still genuine leather parts). A lot to improve here.
***** I'm just interested in the material longevity. I've sat in Mercedes Benzes with the V-Tex material and they looked near perfect after 15 years of usage. Without proper care, leather looks horrible after 5-7 years. Another big thing for me is cost. Leather is the only option for those wanting the higher end packages. Let's make leather separate.
The 781 Boxster is a great car, especially the 718S. I owned the 986S, 987S, 981S and at some point I was going to buy the 718S. Porsche invited me for a test drive and no doubt on track the 718S would outperform my 981S, but this is not a race car, it’s a car to be enjoyed along nice winding B roads, where the sound plays a big part of the enjoyment, at least for me. That’s why I decided to stick with my 981S and not buying the 718S. Shame on you Porsche, you spoiled the best roadster ever made.

Mercedes and BMW will sell a ton of roadsters with 6 cylinders to most people who want their roadsters WITH emotional sound and there they have the option at least. Porsche killed the Boxster for me! The sound is terrible! #Subaru

The design grows on me, but I couldn't live with that engine & sound! BTW: Nearly all of my friends drive a Roadster with a 6 cylinder as a second car, a weekend warrior. None of them would buy a 4 cylinder. The Boxster lived under the shine of the 911. And now? The Beetle? The 7-what? Subaru? I don't get it! I know, this is unrepresentative but the reason for my assumption.

One test driver (I can't remember whom) said they thought the smaller displacement engine felt more responsive.
A tip: you can watch movies at kaldroStream. I've been using them for watching a lot of movies during the lockdown.
