@Ma Ba. Several weeks back, I listened to some of Allison Moorer's singing in her home. I like both their voices, but must confess that I only discovered the two sisters because Mary Chapin Carpenter mentioned Allison Moorer in the notes accompanying one of her episodes from Songs From Home. Music is ALWAYS more uplifting than news!

@@ursulamulder110 Similarly, those notes lead to Allison Moorer's instagram interview(s), which I started because of Mary Chapin Carpenter interview. Then MCC wrote of bingeworthy series, "Better Things," which opens with Shelby Lynne rendition of "Mother." Later, knew their bio. Also used Mandolin platform to see a Shawn Colvin concert Nov 2020, which is another musician connected to MCC. Mandolin had John Lennon 80th Birthday concert incl Shelby Lynne doing "Mother" again - and she went so deep. Reached and reached. So, I have been looking at her chronology here. Then alt Sundays, Allison Moorer does IGTV stream. Next cd I can buy is of the sisters. And you and Sarah Silverman pointed me to Mary Gauthier who did NYE with Gretchen Peters whose name came up with MCC's twitter. And of course, Lucinda Williams! A world of women of soul all not new, but unfolded to me as a gift from Mary Chapin Carpenter connection.

Very little filters through unless I were to actively look for it, but - serendipitously - Shelby Lynne's version of 'Mother' just appeared in my youtube feed yesterday...algorithms or some p/Providence? 😉Many thanks for your response! Having watched recent yt items, eg, Katie Couric with Mary Trump, Stephen Colbert, Trevor Noah (list of past African 'leaders' digging in) and your comment elsewhere re the despicable and tragic events in European history being replicated in your beautiful country, I can but sigh and repeat that life always DOES seem to present more questions than answers. It is a very torrid time of turmoil. I have started dipping into Mark Nepo's 'The Book of Awakening' (Publ. 2000) again...Stay focused, strong and 'stay mighty'!

@@ursulamulder110 Algorhythms! We meet in a digital bubble, not even Base 10. Sorry it isn't poetry, except math is beautiful.(Read some essay about the commonality about shapes,geometry,all organic life forms.) Also saw the Eva Cassidy performance channel, after we both read that comment about a new documentary posted. 3 other leads: @Chris Stern has a channel with his own performance of a song "When I'm Gone" AND he posted an instrumental by UK guitarist Martin Simpson titled (approximately ?)"She Slips Away" - sublime. Chris Stern turned up in comment dialog with me, in that pen pal community Songs From Home Episode 52 of Mary Chapin Carpenter's. He and I tag teamed the religious fire and brimstone damnation commenter last week. The 3rd musical share from me is more jazz/ cabaret. Nancy LaMott. Another alto or contralto ranged with a reedy quality to her vocals. Love her. She did not live forever, but I have every CD she made, while yt has some live shows to add. (She did not write songs, but her pianist did compose some originals for her.)

@Ma Ba. Thanks for those pointers. I had read your interactions with the longwinded fire n brimstone poster, and with Chris Stern. Really enjoyed his cover of 'When I'm Gone',and take it that he is one of the lucky, gifted folk who not only hum or sing along during SFH, but can accompany on guitar, too! Martin Simpson's guitar skills are EXQUISITE! I did not know about Nancy laMott, but will search on youtube. Many thanks. PS I guess 'Algorhythms' was a bit of wordplay?😊

I was thinking the same thing! She’s pretty tough but not many people could have got through what they went through or this song! She’s incredible in my opinion!

@@denisacollier4111 She continues to reach deep with this song. She did it again in 2020 autumn on stage benefit concert celebration of John Lennon's 80th Birthday. She sports a different hair style and emphasizes different parts of the song. It is compelling to go back and forth between the 2 versions. Wish I had the link. May return with it later.
