I ended up going all in with these Comp Carry models. I bought the full size and the Shield version. Then I put on the same green dot Holosun style sights on it. The plan is to use the shield for carry and the full size for home defense. Then I can become more comfortable with the same style pistols.
I have the 4" Performance Center with the Ported Barrel Shield. I love it. It's my everyday carry on most days. I also have the 3.1" PC that I carry from time to time. I might get this one too for the heck of it. I love S&W guns. They just work for me.
Same, I've tried quite a few different brands at this point and they all have their pros and cons but I keep cooking back to S&W. Helps that through many thousands of rounds with a couple dozen handguns, I've only ever had two failures across four different Smiths. Two. In several thousand rounds. I've had at least three or four issues on EACH of all the other guns I've shot.

I bought this gun, and it is awesome and I a lefty. By the way, it does have that lever to disengage the striker to not have to pull the trigger. Another thing that Smith did was to change the angle of that witness chamber indicator hole, so that the gasses don't smoke up the attached optic, if you put one on. Look inside where the hole is on the face of the slide you will see a small angle cut to redirect the gasses forward.
Excellent content. The format of these reviews is the most helpful compared with the other leading reviewers. I now only consider buying a new addition after thoroughly digesting a sootch00 video. As he says, this truly is the golden era for choice and ownership.

Has to be one of the best straight-talk and factual reviews on any gun I have seen online. My S&W Performance Center Shield Plus Comp Carry is due in this week.
I have the shield 1.0, put a competition trigger in it, replace the sear the spring the front and rear sights with tritium and dayglow and added 10 round magazines. It's by far the best shooting pistol I have I wouldn't get rid of it for anything.

I have 28yrs LE, firearms instructor, master class Idpa ssp (iron sights), and I’ve changed tactics & training when better ideas come along. Dot sights on pistols to me are better than irons. Maybe you should go backwards and just shoot a single action revolver?

I think this size carry gun with the 15 round magazine is the perfect size. More people are going to the XL comp models because they are still easily concealed but shoot much better with larger capacity.

I love my M&Ps have a couple versions. But i bought the 365 XMACRO with the comp cut a don't see where gasses are blowing back as bad as everyone is saying. I've had a little on the front sight but can still see it fine. But, none at all on my red dot. Shooting 124gr Critical defense.
@@JimD410that og trigger is what killed the csx. They forgot that the only reason most people even consider sao hammer fire guns for ccw is the better trigger. When the csx came out there was really no reason to get it over a p365
The regular shield plus also can use that 15 round magazine. And it's available for it ever since it's came out. I know I own one, and it's not even a performance center. But it has performance center sites I had put on it shoots fantastic
I had the original shield and did not like it. It was very ammo specific and mine hated CCI 9mm? So I sold it and got a Taurus G3 and love it. I'm a S&W fan and my father was a Master Fitter for S&W and was one of the people that worked to starting the Performance Center Dept. for the company. Your video here is very detailed and well done. Due to this awesome presentation I will buy the new and improved PC Shield. Thanks Sootch for doing a very polished informative review. PS: The new handgun is a secret and pls do not tell my better half LOL.
I experienced the opposite, my shield plus is one of only two handguns I've ever owned/tried that eats absolutely everything I put in it. The other was an M&P 2.0 😅

Did you feel like the extended barrel/slide made the gun feel off balance at all? Saw someone say that they felt it made it feel top/front heavy compared to the original shield plus
I just got one of these and just as a heads up mine didn't have an RMSc footprint for the optic cut. Not 100% what it is but it looks like it might be the RMSk (no rear lugs, short front lugs) but the front lugs are cut kind of funny. Everyone online seems adamant that the shield has an RMSc cut so either someone had some fun with mine or Smith changed their cut recently.
The shield thumb safety was not well executed. hard to engage and disregard so I kept mine in the off position. if someone offered a replacement that extended further out in width and was longer that could fix the issue.

Lol same, I compared this to my MC9 yesterday at the shop and I'm crying a tad bit on the inside. Only advantage I see to the Canik atm is that it's has a RMSc/k slide cut so I could mount the EPS Carry directly to the slide.
Is it worth the "update" if you've already got a Shield Plus? I got Optics Ready Shield Plus in November 2023 as my EDC and love it, but wondering how much more shootable the carry comp is. One thing I dislike is the blacked out rear sight. I prefer the 3 dot night sights mine has.
Some folks have said these are over sprung. Has anyone put in a different recoil spring? I have the compact carry comp and switched to a 13lb spring. Definitely an improvement. Wondering about the spring on this model (Shield plus carry comp)
I wonder if I can use my existing 9mm and 30sc Shield Plus barrels in the Shield Plus Carry comp slide? It seems like if you’re using the normal Plus barrels, it would copy what the Sig Xmacro does with their comped slide, and what the PSA Micro Dagger comped C-1 slide does, which is use the shorter barrel that doesn’t extend into the comped portion of the slide.

Thumb safeties on the shields are horrible to use. They make them too small and hard to use. I'd go with a different model if you really want a thumb safety. If they used the same style of safety selector like they did on the EZ pistols, I think that would be much better.
Is it me Unk or was the Smith & Wesson 4-in performance shield that you reviewed two years ago lighter recoil and the same exact pistol is this except for the slide?!🤔 The recall even seems less from the version you had two years ago.
I’m trying to make a decision on this gun or the shield plus but I’ve seen a lot of videos where people say the carry comp has more recoil and is more snappy than the regular shield plus. I can’t see how this is possible. You have both and shot both you say the carry comp is not snappier correct?
It’s the additional mass out front. From what I gather on a 13 or 15 round mag it equalizes the weight but the 10rnd puts it a little front heavy making that mass flip on recoil more noticeable. I’m in the same boat of deciding between the two.
Smith really needs to go back to coating the frames the I absolutely hate that matte look my shield plus is like that. The earlier shield plus had a cerakoted black frame and it looked so much better.
so what, if any, is the difference in the trigger between the carry comp PC shield and the standard shield plus? it looks exactly the same. is it PC tuning ? what does that involve and how does that translate to shooting experience ?

The shield plus does have the seer disconnect lever so you don’t have to pull the trigger when you disassemble the firearm.

The grip on the plus fits better. I didn't like the shield and 2.0 grip. Install an Apex Tactical trigger kit on it and it will be sweet

I shot a regular shield against a ported performance center model and noticed no real difference personally.

I love all of the new guns but I still daily carry my S&W sd 40 first gen. It has saved my life once already so I trust it and can't get rid of it

Not a huge fan of these I don’t see the need to add a compensator to a concealed carry pistol and I think the new slide serrations cheapen the look
