So, I love this video, and I became curious as to when it could be set. Let's break down the temporal limiting factors:
The electric razor was first sold in 1937.
Although Elliot guesses that there are no cameras, he doesn't find it implausible. Closed Circuit TV first appeared in 1942 (in Nazi Germany V2 facilities, fun fact). The first commercial CCTV system appealed in the USA in 1949.
We know that our character will face the electric chair tomorrow (this is why he is receiving a haircut, hair can interfere with the nodes used, and can burn, creating a hazard and potentially causing great pain and an awful smell). Although it has fallen out of favor compared to lethal injection, death row inmates may still choose this method. This method of execution declined in the 1980s, after a series of botched executions made national news.
Based on these factors, I'd place this video sometime in the 1970s, but I don't know much about the history of barbers or capital punishment. If anyone has a better guess or more details they noticed, please say so.

Since I have always had very strong reactions to ANY kinds of meds, the ASMR solution has really been a blessing.
I use it every day. Mostly (these days) to sleep, but sometimes also for stress, anxiety, panic attacks. Just think of the barrage of pills I would have otherwise had to take for all that!

i think my favorite thing about this is although he's working on an inmate, he's still treating them like a human and deserving of respect. Maybe if someone had shown this person basic human decency earlier in life, they wouldn't be there in the first place.

Awesome work none the less. Quite powerful putting the viewer in the shoes of someone on death row. Makes you consider the issue and the issues around it far more seriously, and makes it far more difficult to dehumanize the victims of capital punishment.

As I've aged, I've found other people's experiences and perspectives more and more interesting. Maybe you could say that I love learning. The intricacies of the world fascinate me, and there's an endless supply of fascination. Your videos, while being extremely polished and fine-tuned, are a very interesting insight into your brain. I could probably ramble endlessly on how intriguing these insights are, but I don't think I could condense it all into a readable comment all too well. Just know that I think you're one genuinely interesting person, and to even have the chance to sit down and talk to someone like yourself would be a great experience.

Not only is it brilliant in both regards, but it's also absolutely stellar in terms of production and concept. I've been following you since The Emergency Room Chronicles, and you've probably been my favourite TH-camr ever since. You exploded onto the ASMR scene with high level content and writing already back then, but the level of quality you've grown into is quite frankly inspiring.

I was feeling very depressed and semi-suicidal when I stumbled upon this (probably the darkest asmr video) yesterday night. I never expected the undertones of this video and it hit me hard. I was really interested in the conversations and I seriously felt like those were my last hours before death, and it was a really eerie, but at the same time amazing, empowering experience (let's be honest here). It actually "cured" me, because I sembolically "died" yesterday and this video made me feel like I was given another chance or something, thanks for the strangest experience I had!

I often don't watch sailor's videos for the asmr part, but to listen to someone talk about their opinion. I gain a lot of things to talk about with my friends by watching these videos.

I get nostalgia watching ASMR barbers, been shaving my head for a decade now. "Hair? Oh yeaaah, I remember that stuff..." I remember getting my hair cut in a Polish barber shop in Dublin city, the barber never spoke and the ASMR was strong. I think I'll grow my hair just to get an ASMR'y haircut!
