      Piss off man, if you really felt that way you would ask what is an American rapper Jay Z doing as a majority shareholder in the sharks??? You know that Jay Z is facing charges of human trafficking and drug trafficking right and you understand he is tied to Diddy and Operah in child trafficking right? Rugby should be ignored by blacks, you really do nothing for the sport but break it and black face it

    Fantastic news!!!! The Springbok brand will be built on South African terms. Thank you Rupert, Marco Masotti, and Johan le Roux. Each holding a stake in the Vodacom Bulls, Sharks, and DHL Stormers. Some things are not for sale.

    I'll do a little research, but ackerley being involved in leeds United a team that was recently relegated to a lower devision isn't the pull factor I need to convince me they can take over the 4 time, back to back world champs. (Not that it's me that needs convincing) as a bokke supporter though I'm glad they were turned away. Sa rugby is literally about passion it's part of how we win games. If we think that money can replace that then we are already in trouble.
    A good discussion. Thank you.

    As a Saffer re Ackerly deal, 2 questions remain, in my mind, unanswered, firstly who set the value of SA Rugby at $375mil? secondly what justifies a 15% "finders/introductory" fee?

  • @Alias-gy3tz
    @Alias-gy3tz 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +5

    The Ackerleys group is not big in sport. They are a very young company and do not have a very good track record. Where do you get your information from? They are like the Guptas. We don't want dirty USA money. The Springboks are not for sale.

    Firstly, it is a terrible commercial deal. $75m for 20% stake?! Seriously, GFY. And Secondly, having an investor who doesn't understand rugby and that there isn't the option to run ads during the game (like American football) doesn't work. It would make more sense to have a backer that invested in basketball.

    South African's like collaboration, we don't want a bully mentality that is inconsiderate whether in business or personally. integrity is key, the deal should benefit everyone's interests a much as possible towards the positive direction.

    South African Rugby should first invest in USA Rugby and grow the sport there. Opening up the USA market is where the long term financial profits lie while at the same time growing the sport. Makes more sense for expanding the game into the USA market than for a USA company to own SARU.

    It is not just about the soul of the game. The Springbok is owned by South Africans. Professionalism came in and now the brand is owned by SARU a board. Who took it and makes the fans to pay heavily to use their own logo. South Africa already cannot afford to keep their players in South Africa. Now all that is going to happen the Boards are going to get big payouts and then big cuts of the profits are going to the investor (that why they are there). Rugby roots which is strong in South Africa is going loose out, Unions won't be able to pay players and things will get worse. look at English rugby. New Zealand rugby. Look what happened to South African cricket. Which had a massive influence on world circket. The boards got massive payouts. Resigned and de3velopment at the bottom no longer exits

    SA Rugby could go big though if all will benefit positively, Springbok brand is already huge but its limited to culture and country, the motive of this deal is not transparent enough,
    I would say continue voting against it until all know what this is about.

    Ackerley Sports Group, a Seattle-based company founded in 2023, faces competition from other better known sports investment groups. Additionally, South African Rugby Union (SARU) players are not currently compensated or contracted, playing solely for the honor of representing their country.
    For many international players, being chosen to represent their nation in a match against the Springboks stands as the pinnacle of their career achievements.

    • @Alias-gy3tz
      @Alias-gy3tz 9 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      Where do you get that false information from that the Springbok players are not compensated? It is not true. SARU even pays towards their salaries at the unions where they are playing.

    • @jason3681
      @jason3681 8 วันที่ผ่านมา +2

      I am sure you are thinking about the amateur era. Currently the top 15-20 rugby players are on SARU contracts if they are playing in South Africa where SARU top up their salaries on top of what they earn at the unions. Those that do not have a centralized contract but starts playing games for the Springboks like our overseas players get paid per game they play. It is of course a honor for them to play for the Springboks, but the time where you only play for pride without compensation is long gone, it is their job the same way it is for any other job in the world. Or did you forget the little matter of SA players threatening to going on strike after the 1995 WC to force SARU to turn rugby pro in SA.
