That's a really solid start to the impression. I would recommend sewing a pair of shoulder boards from the cloth you trimmed from of the skirt of your coat, then sewing those boards into the seams of the shoulders. Early in the war shoulder boards were usually sewn in. If you have any blue, red or raspberry coloured wool then make one side of the shoulder boards that colour, and perhaps add collar tabs in a matching colour.
You don't necessarily need a shovel and case, by around late 1914-15 there were shortages of them and many soldiers weren't issued them. Also they would be next to useless at Sarikamish, since the ground would probably be frozen solid and impossible to dig into.

Correct. Shovels were only issued to sapper troops after 1915 and due to the shortages the leather pouches were becoming scarce and were replaced by canvas ersatz pouches.
A soldier would have one leather pouch and one canvas pouch or two canvas pouches.

I remember hearing about the greatcoat length was supposed to be something like the equivalent of 11inches from the ground. So, whatever length had to be trimmed off at first issue to confirm to that would probably depend on the height of the wearer and maybe how uch access material was on the unissued coat. Cavalry had a different, longer standard. I admit, I don't know if this is true! I don't know if it applied to Imperial Russian, or if it's a later Red Army or Soviet Army thing. But, I have heard of it... somewhere.

Aye, feel bad for you having to unroll the shinel; very annoying to perfectly re-roll it again afterwards. Still, you did it for us viewers and I & I think everyone that watches your channel appreciate it. :)

Как всегда отлично камрад!. Небольшой вопрос по головному убору летнему-фуражке.
Верх спереди - тулья фуражки заужена на английский или немецкий манер.
В русской армии большинство круглая фуражка (вид сверху).

Where can these coats or similar coats be found? I’m probably going to buy a surplus Romanian greatcoat but I doubt they’re as hefty and thick as the old Russian ones. I have a Bulgarian greatcoat which is a crude copy of the Russian greatcoat but I need to do a good amount of modification to it because it is very crudely made. I’m trying to find one that buttons together as nicely as the Russian greatcoats.
