They hand fit a custom locking block to the frame and their custom barrel to the slide for better lock up along with hand fitting their custom extractor. It's better, but it's not $1,200 better, especially when for an extra $100ish you can get their Fueled Prodigy that works and has much better parts fitted to the gun.
@Mechamaniac Ed Browns website sells all the individual components, which you can buy separately and throw it together for way less then 2200. The Frame with apex trigger and all the machined parts is 599, the slide with all internals and sights (except barrel) is 599, the barrel is 199, magazines are 43-72 a piece (unless you already have a bunch of M&P magazines like i do) so that ads up to about 1400. Or if you get the grip module without the apex trigger that's 200 less. So really it can be had for as low as 1200. Still not cheap, but not ridiculous for what you're getting.
This was (as always) a fine review and, Steve, your endorsement, enthusiasm, and your rationale supporting the excellence of this “Ed Brown M&P 2.0” conveys great credibility. I’ll, check the Ed Brown website, but: 1. What barrel lengths are offered? 2. Is the barrel stainless and is it cold hammer forged? 3. Are the frame’s ergonomics identical the S&W’s and are interchangeable back-straps provided? 4. What is the magazine capacity? 5. Are M&P magazines comparable (this appears unlikely, but it’s still an important matter)? 6. Are non-threaded barrels available (some states absurdly disallow threaded barrels for any semiautomatic firearm)? THANKS!
All your questions are answered by checking out the website, just ask yourself if ANY striker fired gun is really worth above $2K. That same money will get you a good 1911 that can shoot circles around the EB Fueled.(if you are decent shot)
Was mildly interested, then Steve said aluminum frame, and interest increased, then the twice as much as a performance center M&P statement dropped, and my wallet ran for the hills.
The shooter demonstrates an interesting grip style- (viewable between 7:03 and 7:15 video time). The handgun manual must stipulate a manufacturer peculiar "open grasp" grip technique on the support hand side. As I understand it, this "open grasp" technique, while irregular, is combined with the proprietary recoil abatement modulator installed at the leading edge of the trigger guard, if you look you will see the left index finger placement, I believe there must be the abatement modulator control button being pressed by the left index finger, so recoil ceases. This technology offsets the cost.
You can put my name on a bunch of parts and it would be cool.. I'd buy one.. but it's still a polymer sf 9mm... a glock is just fine. You don't need every variant of them
I have well over 45 handguns. S&W are at the bottom my list. I had 2 brand new M&P 2.0 that the Optics screws snap off in the slide. Both where new and one didn't make a 100 rounds. There not for me as the ones I own now will be it no matter what come out with. I called about them and S&W would only take the whole gun to look at not just the slide. So I just dropped them from my collecting.
So, it's a $2200.00 M&P. It's the Ship of Theseus of the gun world. 😆
I forget what the ship was like!?
M&Ps are and have always been junk.
Doubling the price of a Sigma doesn’t make it twice as good, sorry S&W 😂
Well said.
The aluminium frame model would be awesome.
Not at almost $2,500.
More love for the M&P 2.0 please!
Excellent review Steve..
steve: this gun is not like the others. 0:18 *struggles to see whats different*
that's the funniest thing Ive seen today
😂

Apex trigger nice!
Wish they did 5" version. Honest Outlaw had done a review years ago on the Ed Brown M&P.

Great review 💪😎
PSA Daggers The elephant in the room.
The M&P 2.0 Metal Carry Comp is the Whale in the Room...
👍👍great review
It shoots good. Price scares the hell out of me though.

Looks like John Wick has some new tool options!
Does anyone make / sell an aftermarket mag well for M&Ps?
Brownells?

Is it just me or did I see a magazine disconnect in that gun???
What stood out to me was the sound that the recoil spring made every time you racked it. It sounded as though it was rubbing on something.

Uhh.... "machined rather than milled" ??? Milling IS machined.

I'm sure its nice for a striker fired gun but it will never be as good as a Dan Wesson or higher grade of 1911.
So what you meant by a convert is that they paid you to promote this gun... ok
Who / what is Ed Brown? I have never heard of him / them!
google
😐
Ignorance is no excuse.
Come on now Sootch
