    hi tom like the videos i am a farmer and contractor based in west cork ireland.
    getting to the bales of straw you can wrap the straw just spike in to the plastics to allow the straw breed. also wrap the bales with 12 layers of plastic are less if you like don't wrap to much as they would heat. thanks

    Tom, with all of that slurry you should look into starting a Topsoil Company. By the Bag or by the truck load. Mix your dry manure in with peat moss, various mixes of compost. You could even sell it at the shop out front in a bag for home gardens. Truckloads for home yards, buildings etc. It's a great way to manage your manure levels year round. Plus it could turn into a a solid revenue stream long term.

    Hi 👋 Tom, that job that you were doing with your father brings back a memory for me as I did that job all by myself back in the summer of 89 and all I had was an international 885xl tractor and a Sambron all terrain fork lift truck and I was backwards and forwards from a very large field all day and I probably didn’t get finished until late as I had to swap between these two agricultural machines all day, but if memory serves me correctly I think 🤔 that I did clear that field, however that was a long time ago now and I am uncertain of what the future may bring ?????.

  • @EleanorPeterson
    @EleanorPeterson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +22

    I laughed at your question in the video Description: "How have your crops been this year?" Ha!
    Well, Tom, 'Farmer Eleanor' (that's me!) is based in England (West Yorkshire) and has got an 8' lean-to greenhouse full of tomatoes, hot chillies, and sweet peppers; she's got a 20' garden with some spuds, beans, blackberries, onions, carrots, and two 7' apple trees in tubs [Bramley and Discovery], and she's got 6 rescued battery hens (no cockerel).
    Farmer Elli's 2020 crop has been so-so so far. The drought at the start to the year ruined her apples, with fewer than 10 between two trees. Sigh.
    The hens have been having fun digging up the tiny garden but paying for the carnage by laying about two dozen eggs per week (thank you, ladies); the greenhouse tomatoes are abundant, the blackberries are huge, and everything else is doing pretty well, too.
    No idea about the spuds yet, but I'm hoping there'll be enough for a few double egg and chips. Bread and butter, mug of tea. Hmmm...
    So, it's all a bit boring, really. Sorry about that. I haven't even got a tractor; just an old mountain-bike.
    Two more things Farmer Eleanor hasn't got: 1). A cool camera drone; and 2). Her own exciting range of merchandise! ;-)

    Your straw bales are sitting right next to a pitched roof - set to get soaked in a moderate rain! I know you've got limitations, but you need to set some pallets down on the ground and build a gutter to chase the rainwater. After 400 years (200?) of doing this, watching your struggles on youtube makes me yell at the CRT! hahaha! @ and I'm a fan! Love cows!
