Omg!!!! I suffer from chronic neck pain after a failed neck, fusion and fight with my masks. Every single night I have been desperately searching for an answer. Thank you so much I’m so glad I found this. I’m going to get one right away.

Been using a cpap for a few years now for my central sleep apnea & obstructive.. Sometimes I wake up with the worst pain in my neck and head where my skull meets my spine.. Which just so happens to be where the strap on my neck sits. I have to tighten my strap a lot because with my central sleep apnea my machine is cracked all the way up and there is a lot of force there so its hard to get it leak free. But anyways I had a really rough night with my neck and head hurting and I figured it was the strap because it was really tight against the exact spot that was killing me.. SO soon as I woke up I searched online to see if anyone else had pain like this and your video popped up. I'm glad I found it I need to either make or buy something like that.. I can't take this pain anymore. Its the absolute worst neck pain and headache I've ever had.

I am of the opinion that standard CPAP straps CAUSE neck injury. I believe studies should be conducted to prove (or disprove) this. If I am right, then such studies could help galvanize CPAP manufacturers to get off their duffs and provide alternatives. If their products cause neck injury then they could face legal action. If the solution is really as simple as the method described in this video, the companies really have no excuse for addressing this issue. ResMed, Respironics, please DO SOMETHING about this!
To the creator of this video, THANK YOU!!! I will be trying the solution described in the video.

Here's my takeaway, as I just got one of these. One, you can position it pretty much anywhere, but more toward the back of the head works best. I position mine a little higher as I don't like my ears covered. The reason I got it is with a cpap machine that has an auto-sensor, (I have the ResMed 10), pressure gradually increases, which is great until around 1:00 A.M. when the pressure starts to blow the mask away from the face. I was forever having to tighten my straps around my cheeks too tight in the beginning to try and fix this, and this little baby does the trick just fine. Great video, Jason, as always. :-)

I do not claim that the Anti Leak strap will reduce the pain on your neck. It is designed to prevent leaks especially for the Mirage Quattro. Do not use this on any mask that the exhalation ports are around the hose connection like the AirFit F10, N10, Quattro Air, or Mirage FX. We have a PAD A CHEEK Neck pad for that purpose.

I made a home made one. I bought a measly chin strap ( didn’t realize how cheap it was when I ordered) and split it in two and got a two for one full face mask hold in place home made gem. It had Velcro on both upper and lower sections so I didn’t have to do more than split it in two. Works great at keeping the leaks low.
Jason is so right about those straps digging in your neck and head . There’s got to be an improvement or maybe there is and I just don’t know?

Thanks, I have been looking for something to ease the cervical neck pain I have when using my cpap. I have a lot of
arthritis in my c-6 and c-7 , with cervical neck bone spurs as well. I am excited to order one of these straps.

I’m in the same boat as you are with the cervical bone spurs. They are the absolute worst chronic pain producing things in the world. Hardly sleep more than two hrs at a time because of those bastards. It really is Hell, so I know what you mean.

I am getting migraines every day. I'm afraid it would make my migraines worse. I need dental work and I am prone to migraines anyway. Suggestions?

Had a quick question. If I use this, can I make the
bottom strap super loose, or barely use it at all?
Have a Mirage Quattro. Thank you.

My face gets so oily that it literally causes my mask to leak..if I push on the mask it fits nice.I’ve always always had leak issues and wakes me up and disturbs my sleep more then I ever felt prior to machine ..idk I feel like is keep worse now days

This is not designed to prevent neck pain. I designed it to help prevent leaks with the Mirage Quattro mask.

    • @Freecpapadvice
      @Freecpapadvice  7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Correct. It's not designed to prevent neck pain. This is my claim of the product. I have some users who tried it who didn't like the feel of their mask straps digging into their neck. This goes higher up and gave their neck much needed relief.

I am having problems with Mask Leaks and yet I have full mask but finding it moving around while I sleep! Do you know if insurance pays for this strap? Thank You for the video and information! I desperately need something that will stop my mask leaks! I had the ResMed Fit 10 for a few months and SoClean 2 for a few months and now I am continually having Mask Leaks!

like your video.....I just started with my auto pap but can't stand the full face mask . my sleep tech only asked if I snored and used the full faced mask....no other options given and that's what I'm stuck with.....hate it

tawanna lewis You would most likely do just fine with a nasal mask. This is my biggest pet peeve with night techs. It's just a lack of seeing the long term "big picture" for patients using these at home.

I have just changed to the AMARA VIEW cap mask and my tongue is getting so dry, I can't get sleep for drinking water. My tongue and throat get so dry, it becomes painful.
Your Web site has shown me that I have a leak due to the mask not sealing tight, as it should.
It is coming from the sides and I go through an entire full water tank on my Phillips Respironics system one every single night.
My exhaustion has hit an all time
    low.
Should I change mask, try to fix the leak, go back to Dr. ? Any advice is welcome.
    Thanks for reading my post.
