Dentist study a lot of same medical courses that the medical doctors do. Especially oral medicines, oral maxillofacial surgeons, and oral maxillofacial radiologist study a lot of the disease effecting the body cause they can have oral maxillofacial effects and it is one of the first region that a patient can be early diagnosed. Like last we we had a 9 year old patient with gingival enlargement and was referred for a panoramic radiograph. According to the clinical evidence and radiographic appearance, unfortunately the patient was diagnosed for leukemia and referred to an oncologist for further treatment.
I am dentistry student and unfourtanetly people around me dont respect to dentists as much as medical doctors. This situation decreased my motivation but your video brought my motivation back. Thank you so much :))
I love dentists. Ppl don’t appreciate things until they’re faced with a difficult situation where that very thing they didn’t appreciate helps them thru. Dentists are amazing. If that is your calling don’t let ppls ignorance get in your way.
I honestly don't get how people don't consider dentists a doctor. when you need surgery you go to a surgeon (doctor) when you you feel sick you go see a doctor (doctor) WHEN YOU BRAKE YOUR TEETH WHO DO YOU GO SEE?? A DENTIST( DOCTOR!!!!!!) I rest my case.
@@Whalien-qy2zh Doctors work harder than dentists in my country. They don't have enough time for themselves. But dentists have more free time and do not neglect themselves and their families while doing their job. I noticed that having more free time is more important than to be respected for me.
Dentists in the US did it to themselves. The overwhelming majority are con artists who push unnecessary dental procedures and rip-off their clients, usually while verbally berating them. So the reason people don’t respect dentists….. is because of dentists.
@@TeethTalk I think you're mistaken. The American Dental Association is actively lobbying against including dental benefits in Medicare. Dentists fear that government oversight will cut into their profits or penalize abusive up-selling practices that dentists use to increase profits. Dental practices are unsupervised private profit making businesses so, of course there will be abuses. Dentists don't want anyone looking too close at what's going on and they certainly don't want customers to have a powerful regulating agency like Medicare to be able to complain to.

Hi Whitney. Its great to Watch and Listen To Your video and just to realise how important a dentist really is once again thank you for another great video.
Hi there. A few year ago, I noticed how my teeth were deteriorating hence I made an effort taking my oral health more seriously but now I more worried that this has not help or I have worsened the state of my teeth. What would you recommend?
hi i want to be a doctor dentist but i don't know what college good for learn dentist i am looking for university can you tell us more about dentist what they learn us please thank you so much!!!!!!!
My oral surgeon didn't know what Diflucan was. I have an infection after oral surgery. He prescribed an antibiotic, I asked for Diflucan. He didn't know what it was.
I know this is irrelevant to this video but i got a tooth extraction 3 months ago and i was wondering if i wait 3 more months for the implant well i most likely need bone grafting or is waiting half a year before getting implant ok?
Majority of bone resorption occurs within the first 6 months. If you are wanting an implant I would recommend you seek tx now, as delaying tx could result in prolonging the overall process due to potentially needing a bone graft. Complications can also arise with bone grafting, so it may be best to take your chance with pursuing tx asap. Consult with your dentist first and provide a complete medical history background, as certain tx's and/or conditions could lead to implant failure or even worse manifestations depending on aforementioned history.
The dental industry went downhill fast when they started offering exploitive high interest rate credit cards to lower income people who would otherwise limit the dollar amount of services they can purchase. A dentist will rarely cut someone a break, it's all about the money, and if you decline any of their demands they make it very clear that you are no longer welcome and should go elsewhere for your dental care. Let's be honest, nobody likes dentists... they're legends in their own minds and put themselves up on a pedestal. It's about money and greed, it's just business, not for the public good.
Dentists have doctorate degrees, the same way pharmacists, podiatrists, optometrists have doctorate degrees. University professors are referred to as “doctors” because they have a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy). Like podiatrists, optometrists, dentists are not medical doctors. They cannot diagnose, treat, and prescribe outside of their scope of practice. You would not go to a dentist to get treated for a UTI or foot infection. The term "doctor" refers to the degree level in this case. A "doctorate" is the highest level of education granted. Dentists perform specialized skill-sets granted under a doctorate degree. Dentists are not "doctors" the same way a cardiologist is called a doctor. Dentists do not have a medical degree in the sense that they applied to medical school, trained as a medical student, and took a board exam to become a medical examiner. You don't go to your dentist to get bloodwork performed and have them evaluate your HDL levels and A1c%. That is not the scope of practice for a dentist. They're "doctors" because the level of their degree not because they're actual MEDICAL doctors. Please don't tell patients dentists are medical doctors, that is misinformation. Also it just sounds easier to say "Hi, Doctor", instead of "Hi, Dentist!".
@@missplainjane3905 Not sure what you mean by "oral medicines". Most medications are taken by mouth, some are injectables, some are transdermal patches. Just because a medication is taken by mouth doesn't mean a dentist prescribes it. A dentist, by law, can only prescribe within their scope of practice, like pain relievers (Ibuprofen), pre-op/ post-op antibiotics. If a dentist writes a prescriptions for blood pressure, the pharmacist has right to deny it. They cannot diagnose and prescribe anything outside of the conditions of the oral cavity. They are specialized professionals in dental medicine encompassing assessing, diagnosing, and prescribing within the specialty.

They should have Dentists in the ER
ER is a place of medicine for medical doctor which dentists, obviously are not.

Dentist 🦷 or mbbs . which better?

Your pharmacist knows lol

I call them physicians, unless they hold a doctorates.
The title "physician" only refers to medical doctors... dentists are not licensed as "medical".
@@dahum__ yes they are they can treat diagnose diseases of the mouth and teeth and prescribe medications they specialised In mouth tissues and teeth
I would like a second opinion from a real doctor about that 😂
