Hey, just did a slide into a curb (20 - 30kmh) and I have waay too much positive camber as well as a wacked alignment. My car is a 2003 Civic ES, yea the bad civic. My tyres and wheels look ok but what should I check/replace first? I hate black ice...
Seems like it would have been a good idea for Lexus to have the headlights default to a normal headlight position in case of failure, rather than have them point down?
Toyota and Lexus are great reliable car Scotty. I drove my first Cressida in 1975 followed by 1980 Celica Gt, 1996 Supra, 2005 Prius model 5 , 2012 Avalon limited and Wife's 2016 Highlander limited. However I hate the terrible Toyota seats and I spent probably $25K on Chiropractor and other doctors visits for Chronic back pain until I bought a 2013 Volvo XC60 in 2018. Now 85,000 miles on my Volvo and I can drive 8 hours straight without back pain. Scotty, it doesn't always pay to focus on reliability.

You're right about Nissan being overcomplicated, had to replace an alternator in a 2013 Quest at work the other day. The 2.6 hour job took over 3 hours🤢
@@junzhonghuang7458 Hi and congrats! The carbon buildup issue was actually a recall years ago. I took mine in for the recall and it's been good since the repair. Apparently, that job is a ~$5K job (at the dealer)...but that was a long time ago.
I just bought mine, a 09 is250. I don’t think it had this issue but how would I know. Anyway, how do I sort it out if it does? Do I go to the dealer and say “recall issue” and they will do it for free?? Or what should I do?
Proud owner of a Lexus 450h f sport 66k milage only headache had so far was to locate and replace 3x dead tire sensors and lose exhaust previous owners knocked. Very swift car.
Hurricane Ida destroyed my old Chevy S10 a couple months ago. I needed something to kart myself around while I look for a new truck, saw a listing for a 2005 Lexus ES330 with 268,000 miles and though of Mr. Kilmer here. So I show up to see it, and the thing still "runs like a clock" to use Scotty-speak. Literally the only problem it has is a warning light for the headlight leveling system!
I was just quoted by BMW for a repair...$9,000 to replace 6 spark plugs,6 coil packs and an oil filter gasket replacement on a 41k Mile 2012 BMW E93. They charged me $300 for the diagnostics work and when I got home after hearing a strange rattling in the hood, they forgot to bolt on the plastic engine cover. My first and last BMW for sure🙄
I had a similar situation on my 2010 BMW , they quoted me for 4,800 dollars and told me it’s usually more ,but SINCE I BEEN THERE ENOUGH to be called a regular customer the owner cut me a deal🤦🏽♂️ and all I had was 78k miles on it. I traded for a 2007 GS 350 with 84,000 and haven’t had a problem yet besides the windshield, and brakes.
@@dwight690 my brother purchased a 2012 infinity G37 convertible the same week I had got my BMW and he's driven 110k miles so far. His only repair has been a failed alternator. He just passed his inspection and not a single issue.
Beside the good and valuable lessons, which I have to thank and appreciate, ..., I like the leafs above the tail lights, when you open the hatchback 🙂Anyhow, the years of experience and being in touch with all kind of cars, is getting proven is these video series. Here we find valuable lessons that it can't be thought in school, or even worst, in online classes. It's life, it's a life long accumulation of knowledge, shared with us. Thank you, Scotty!
Not a word about Genesis...I tuned in to hear what axe are you grinding about Genesis now? My 2009 3.8 sedan is the best car I have ever owned, runs like new with 170 k miles. Smooth as silk and has the Aisin transmission Scotty raves about. It gets 28 MPG on the highway and I average 25. Zero problems EVER.
Back in the spring I got such my 2009 GS350 with only 72k miles it was garage kept and hardly driven I love it so much, the only thing I even needed to replace was the hood struts which was like $20 and totally optional but why not
I bought a ‘07 IS350 over 5 years ago with 120k miles for $12k. What a screaming deal…now 184k miles and it’s been super reliable. I do all my own maintenance and save some serious coin driving this beast.
Hi Scotty! I just bought a 2008 IS350 with 151k miles last week for $9,500! Clean Carfax and professional mechanic inspection, and was priced at the lower end of the KBB price range ($9,100-$11,047). Such a great car! I am very pleased! 😸🚗💨
In reference to the Lexus with the headlight problem, one could do what I did. Buy a good running 1978 Chevy Caprice. Wagner GLASS headlights cost me $11 each! I have a frame, and STEEL BUMPERS too!!! (Outta my way! OORAH!!!)
He is right, I was going to opt out for any afternarket radio for my Acura but a phone is all you need for GPS and Music. save yourself the hassle and just use your phone
On my Saab there's 2 sensors for the headlight leveling. On the front control arm and in the back. They sit right by all the grit that gets shot up off the tires and can knock the arm off the sensor. Could be something as simple as reconnecting the switch arm.
I heard the IS 250 models have issues with the engine though cause they used the direct injectors or something would that be an issue if I bought one of these or should I stick to the 350s?
The 4GR-FSE 2.5L V6 is a direct injection engine that does not have a cold start injector nor regular fuel injectors to clean the engine oil from the intake valves, and therefore the engine builds up carbon on the intake valves which must be periodically cleaned.
@@fhd3715 how is it not? Lexus has more technology and the more you have the more likely you are to have issues with it. I have had both and the Lexus had more problems.
@@one7decimal2eight I had a 2010 Lexus LS460, it was horrible car, broke as often as a BMW, 4 repairs needed in 1 year. Had 135K miles on it when I got rid of it, the 4th repair needed was a $1500 repair.
@@brandonstclair6530 did you own it since new? Weird since I have seen and heard nothing but good things from that LS. And 1500 isn't squat. I had 2 air shocks go out on my Mercedes and the stealer ship wanted 1800. Per side. The alarm siren went out with an irreplaceable battery. That was 600. On my porsche the chrono clock broke. That was 1500. On my lexus the most expensive repair was the timing belt and that was 1000. I did it just to be safe.
Scotty reminds me of an uncle that let's you work on his yard all summer for a car and but gives you a manual 98' Ford Ranger instead. Then goes on to teach you how to drive it after you rake his yard in the fall.
My 2017 Genesis G90 has 98,000 miles I'm on my 3rd set of tires, 2nd set of brakes, and I change my oil every 6K miles. I just spent $800 for my 90K service and have not had one issue in over 5 years. Loved my Cressida, '91 Lexus LS 400, and my forever love 95 Supra, but I can never understand the Genesis bashing. I guess my stupid self will look you up when I hit 125K miles.🤣🤣🤣
. Just did a crankshaft position sensor on my jeep ...Sooooo, after cutting a hole in the floorboard and getting the correct part it really didn't take too long ... My tip is to tie a string on the wire harness to feed the new part in ... You're welcome. .
I love my Lexus, same year is350, that gir purrs and is quick when I want the speed. Nothing but oil changes and a battery replacement so far, excellent cars!
In my car the headlights had the same issue, I aimed manually and removed the headlight level fuse, removing the fuse gets rid of the dashboard warning
@@vroomgc I’m sure he didn’t say anything about that because I told him I did that already. Didn’t work for me. Pulling the fuse turned off the flashing light on my dash but the adjustment on the lights wouldn’t work and actually broke on me. So he suggested the best thing was just to replace the lights altogether
@@jacquelinewood5023 However he could have suggested it for others that watch. My Ex gf had a lexus and did the expensive dealer route and soon after sold it because of how pricey the parts were, so she bought a newer Camry to replace it. Nice driving car though.
Being perfectly aware most people are just as shallow as me, I move for the owner to start youtubing, wonder how she would mod that Lexus. Good looking, enthusiastic, and loves cars! What a combination
Hahaha I wouldn’t know what to base my channel on. Scotty has it pretty well covered in the automotive industry. The only mods I wanted to do were the lights and the exhaust. I appreciate the compliment though.
If only Lexus made faster vehicles that weren't insanely expensive on the used market. Gonna have to just get a Z or a G as my fun car and hope it doesn't blow up. Definitely can't afford something like an IS350.
@@anthonyg3016 probably a 350z DE because my Hr has beat Is350’s even the 06-08 model which are actually faster than the rest of the models due to their aggressive gearing
Have to say thank you so much for this video, and your previous video on this car you did down in TN. After watching online for these for several months I finally started test driving them, first a '10 250 w/137k and then a '12 350 with 123k. One pulled to the left and the other to the right, and I could just tell by several other indicators driving them that they were both beaten on and not taken care of. Then I found a 2012 IS 250 with only 107k and I noticed the difference right away - this one had been well taken care of. 75-80 down the highway, let go of the wheel and it didn't budge. So smooth and solid, more like it had 30k on it. Besides a mint interior, it even had the OEM Lexus First Aid kit still in the trunk! Was worth going 2.5 hrs. from MA down to CT to buy it for $14,500. Drove like a dream the whole way home and I absolutely LOVE IT!! And it'd never have happened without you doing these videos, so again, a huge THANK YOU Scotty!!
I had an IS 350 that was totaled after a tree fell on it. I miss that car dearly. With the inflated market, I wasn’t able to buy another one anywhere close to my insurance settlement.
Very good car but be careful of the 2.5L 4GR-FSE engine on this gen model. Carbon tends to quickly build up on these DI models and leads to very annoying and expensive repairs. The 3.5 (IS350) doesn't have that problem.
@@JJdaSamuRai no not at all. He said the engine runs perfectly. I would imagine carbon buildup would have made it run poorly in some way. He was very pleased with the car. Runs better than some new cars

Scotty I have a car orphanage. Mostly misfits . My oldest is a 1990 Maxima with 147000 miles. The transmission and front axles are newer. I also resently bought 3 lLEXUS all used. I love them. The Nissan got totaled when a 300 ft tree crushed 1/2 of a 5 car garage that fell on Max, It is a great car to drive around the little island We live on in the summers. Was this car built as poorly as todays Nisan. What about the timing belt or chain or rope. Car runs great and is a lifesaver for my 14 employees to borrow while their cars are out of service. Is it a good car or have I just been lucky. Also it is 30 years old and does not need to be registered every year. No expensive collision insurance, what say you.I really enjoy your show. I've just bought a MY13 Lexus IS350 Sports Luxury (Oz market) picking it up next week. Whilst I didn't need Scotty to tell me why I should buy it, I really appreciate this timely video..and the owner of the IS 250 AWD in this video is obviously as smart as she is beautiful!
Currently own a 13' IS350 and it's been absolutely amazing, reliable and fun to drive. Never do I not smile when I step into it. 😁
Awesome 👍. I'm currently looking forward to purchasing at least 13 IS250 or 15 IS250
You're right about Nissan being overcomplicated, had to replace an alternator in a 2013 Quest at work the other day. The 2.6 hour job took over 3 hours🤢
That exhaust is perfect
My friend has had Mercedes Benz for years- after paying his last $600 to fix a engine check light- I told him about Lexus..
So he went and got a range rover. Sometimes you got to sink lower before going up
@@Kauffman578 pretty much lol
I got a 2009 is250 with 80000 miles 3 months ago and I absolutely love the thing, same problem with the headlights
Hi Scotty! I bought my 07 IS250 in '09 and it's still goin! Just hit 300,000 miles last week! Proof Lexus is a great product! :)
mine is 200,000 miles, does yours have carbon buildup issues?
@@junzhonghuang7458 Hi and congrats! The carbon buildup issue was actually a recall years ago. I took mine in for the recall and it's been good since the repair. Apparently, that job is a ~$5K job (at the dealer)...but that was a long time ago.
I just bought mine, a 09 is250.
I don’t think it had this issue but how would I know.
Anyway, how do I sort it out if it does? Do I go to the dealer and say “recall issue” and they will do it for free?? Or what should I do?
The clacking is actually the GDI injectors, sounds awesome.
They really loud
Just my opinion, not a good sound. Nice car though
@@KF1 if you want to listen to other 2.5 V6 or 3.0 you'll hear that, especially without the cover. VW tsi is much worse.
I love lexus man. I really want a lexus is 350. Those cars look good and are fast and the best part. Reliability
Proud owner of a Lexus 450h f sport 66k milage only headache had so far was to locate and replace 3x dead tire sensors and lose exhaust previous owners knocked. Very swift car.
The Is250 is just excellent, alot of aftermarket parts also
Hurricane Ida destroyed my old Chevy S10 a couple months ago.
‘08 IS 350 best car I have owned. Shoutout to LexusSociety, great community.
Genesis is for the most part pretty reliable.
I have an option to buy a 2010 IS250 140k miles for $8k.
No accidents.
Should I buy it?
Back in the spring I got such my 2009 GS350 with only 72k miles it was garage kept and hardly driven I love it so much, the only thing I even needed to replace was the hood struts which was like $20 and totally optional but why not
I bought a ‘07 IS350 over 5 years ago with 120k miles for $12k. What a screaming deal…now 184k miles and it’s been super reliable. I do all my own maintenance and save some serious coin driving this beast.
Hey man, in USA you didn't face to problem with 5th cylinder on the 3/2GR-FSE?
Idk why you hate Genesis they have a great songs back then
My favourite Genesis song is "Throwing it all away"
Genesis pre 1980. Really serious music.
Hyundai hates that song 😂
Hi Scotty! I just bought a 2008 IS350 with 151k miles last week for $9,500! Clean Carfax and professional mechanic inspection, and was priced at the lower end of the KBB price range ($9,100-$11,047). Such a great car! I am very pleased! 😸🚗💨
How is it treating you now? I just bought one at 160k miles recently
@Bryant Still running great! No major issues. Just routine maintenance 😊
@@RH-hs2bc Awesome! Did you ever change the transmission fluid or anything kind of out of routine like oil brakes and tires?
@@RH-hs2bc I mean anything out of routine like changing transmission fluid**, water pump, alternator anything of that nature?
I got a supercharged 350 and I love it 163k miles and still pushin
In reference to the Lexus with the headlight problem, one could do what I did. Buy a good running 1978 Chevy Caprice. Wagner GLASS headlights cost me $11 each! I have a frame, and STEEL BUMPERS too!!! (Outta my way! OORAH!!!)
2:21 Lol that beauty cover went flyin
He is right, I was going to opt out for any afternarket radio for my Acura but a phone is all you need for GPS and Music. save yourself the hassle and just use your phone
On my Saab there's 2 sensors for the headlight leveling. On the front control arm and in the back. They sit right by all the grit that gets shot up off the tires and can knock the arm off the sensor. Could be something as simple as reconnecting the switch arm.
The all-wheel drive is a bonus in bad weather. I hope that Lexus lasts a long time
I heard the IS 250 models have issues with the engine though cause they used the direct injectors or something would that be an issue if I bought one of these or should I stick to the 350s?
The 4GR-FSE 2.5L V6 is a direct injection engine that does not have a cold start injector nor regular fuel injectors to clean the engine oil from the intake valves, and therefore the engine builds up carbon on the intake valves which must be periodically cleaned.
I own two Lexus and three Toyota’s. I’ve had more trouble out of the two Lexus than I have out of any of the Toyotas
Great sample size to draw conclusions from.
@@fhd3715 how is it not? Lexus has more technology and the more you have the more likely you are to have issues with it. I have had both and the Lexus had more problems.
Which yrs and models
😭😂😂
😂
My 2017 Genesis G90 has 98,000 miles I'm on my 3rd set of tires, 2nd set of brakes, and I change my oil every 6K miles. I just spent $800 for my 90K service and have not had one issue in over 5 years. Loved my Cressida, '91 Lexus LS 400, and my forever love 95 Supra, but I can never understand the Genesis bashing. I guess my stupid self will look you up when I hit 125K miles.🤣🤣🤣
Fun fact, he made this video because of me
Bought a 2007 IS350 a week ago for $6400. It was a steal because this thing feels amazing..
You're 100% correct why have those "maps" if you have Google maps or WAZE of which prefer.🤠👍🏻👍🏻
.
Just did a crankshaft position sensor on my jeep ...Sooooo, after cutting a hole in the floorboard and getting the correct part it really didn't take too long ... My tip is to tie a string on the wire harness to feed the new part in ... You're welcome.
.
5:14 like that phrase sounds by Scotty "really long time"
Got a 2009 sport Is 250. Love it, great car.
Just got rid of my 2013 genesis sedan 5.0 rspec it was a great car 0 problems also way more powerful than anything in price range
I wanted one of these till I heard about the constant carbon build up in the valves in these but other than that it’s a beautiful car for sure
Mine has the adaptive headlights and I love it😂
That Lady that bought the Lexus. Smart and good looking Nice!
Scotty is on Team Pixel 🔥
I love my Lexus, same year is350, that gir purrs and is quick when I want the speed. Nothing but oil changes and a battery replacement so far, excellent cars!
Enjoyed this one Scotty🤘
In my car the headlights had the same issue, I aimed manually and removed the headlight level fuse, removing the fuse gets rid of the dashboard warning
Funny that Scotty didnt suggest that. I mean doesnt he know everything lol.
I did the same thing. Mine didn’t adjust enough and then broke. I pulled the fuse so the stupid blinking light would go away
There’s a piece to measure the suspension on the rear passenger control arm it was snapped put it back together with a hose clamp & boom afs bsck
That's so cool to feature the owner of the car in the video!
One of your best videos yet, Scotty.
Sarahntuned channel
No violations on her license plate number. Very good.
I always love his SAVAGE honesty
God bless that lady to picking a good reliable car 🚘 yes 👍
I just got one of these for 6500 with 105k miles, absolutely happy with it
If only Lexus made faster vehicles that weren't insanely expensive on the used market. Gonna have to just get a Z or a G as my fun car and hope it doesn't blow up. Definitely can't afford something like an IS350.
Dude the lexus 2006 is 350 smokes my bothers 350 z. We are looking for a lexus is 350. It has 310 horsepower
@@anthonyg3016 probably a 350z DE because my Hr has beat Is350’s even the 06-08 model which are actually faster than the rest of the models due to their aggressive gearing
You CAN afford it if you hustle Christmas lights for the next 5 weeks.
She did really good on buying this Lexus! I am looking to buy same one but with V6
Hers is a V6 too, the newer ones can come in a 4 turbo but the old generation is nothing but V6 unless if you get the Isf with a V8
I drive it hard enough, no carbon build up
@@jacquelinewood5023 Did he mention it when you saw him?
@@JJdaSamuRai no not at all. He said the engine runs perfectly. I would imagine carbon buildup would have made it run poorly in some way. He was very pleased with the car. Runs better than some new cars
I think the genesis brand is amazing and definitely good value for the money.
I did the same GRAND DAD SCOTTY !!! I bought a 2009 Acura Tsx 2.4L with only 150k km on it. It's getting me safely to School and work bought the car FROM AN OLD WOMAN,
Scotty I have a car orphanage. Paul Washington State summers and Nevada in the winters.
I'm proud of her she straight piped her car
Jetta MK6 has easy access to replace almost everything in the engine bay except for the knock sensors.
She straight piped it! If she misses her pick up truck in the future and needs to scratch that itch, she is welcome to visit me in N.E. Georgia and drive my RCSB 5.7L Tundra.
If I could get Scotty Kilmers to check out my car with his huge $6000 dealer level scan tool I would puff on the Cannabis Cigars with him and get all schmoked up
