Okay, that tip about building roofs to prevent wild plants growing near the farm land is genius and in my 2k hours of playing this, it never crossed my mind lol. This is ever easier than building floors! Thank you!

Just plant your corn in rotations. I usually have three corn field so one is at 33%, another at 66% and then harvesting and planting the third.

@@royce9018 well, the thing is that you can't always have a year round growing time nor can your open field be safe from events like toxic fallout or cold snap. Some people aren't willing to take the risks involved and i can't blame them for it.
Corn is glorious, don't take me wrong. But you need greenhouses for them to be your main and reliable source of food.
Me, remembering one run where my Corn field let me make over 100 Packaged Survival Meals and over 500 Rations in a single yield: "How foolish I have been..."

There’s a mod that lets you build transparent roofs so you can actually build large enough greenhouses to make this work without needing a trillion watermill generators. 😂

I always play with the 3 sisters planting mod as it adds lentils which function as "Meat" for the purpose of cooking.
The Soup stove's efficiency depends on how you set them up
I made a bill of "Make until 10 Lavish soup" in my Large Cooking stove along with having 7 Cooking stoves ready to accept and cook them, this way, you can create large amounts of soup in bulk
The only downside is that you can receive a major loss in food if you get hit by a Solar flare (or a Zzt or solar Eclipse if your batteries run out) because they spoil very quickly in the stove
I fed an entire colony of 12 people with 8 Soup stove's producing 80 meals every 2-3 days, which is more than enough for my colonists while also giving me some for extra, this also allows your pawn to save massive amounts of time since cooking a single soup pot (the raw soup) takes less time than cooking 12 meals of the same quality
I love how pawns cook they find 39 meat and one berry and make a dish

Just one thing about potato growing in hydroponics. I don't think it was worded as good as it could have been. Potato plants do benefit from rich soils and hydroponics. However they don't benefit as much as other crops with better fertility sensitivity do. If i remember correctly hydroponics potatoes are at 170% growing speed while rice or strawberry are at 280% growing speed. So you still gain from planting in rich soil/hydroponics. However you don't gain as much as you would with other crops.
It is worth noting that they still are the most efficient nutrition per work crop you can plant in hydroponics. As such they deserve their spot in people's colonies.

Nutrient paste is so amazing if you have good mood management. 0 risk of food poisoning, more nutrition per resource, and it gets rid of using time on cooking, which is a substantial % of colony's potential productivity for a long time.
Have you eaten one, though? Tastes awful; would rather eat agave raw.
But, yeah, once you get stable power it is a useful build. Lay in some Fine Meals when you can for when people get sick of it, though.

My suggestion is to prepare meals according to your consumption rate.
Also, once I get a somewhat stable food source going, I disable survival meals from the allowed foods and stockpile 200-300 of them. This frees up space (since survival meals dont need refridgeration) and creates a food stockpile for lean times or when you want to send out people on caravan (it also sells well too if you are still in a time of bounty).
I use chocolate for caravans.

I like the Rye plant that The Great War mod adds. It grows as fast as rice (jus one extra day), it grows well in poor soil like potatoes and yields up to 15 rye per harvest, combined with nutrient dispencer and increased stock mod (75->750), one big harvest can last you up to several years

Damn, my rimworld game in the backround and looking this video. The rim-sound-erro`s in the game trigger me but cant stop watching and playing rimworld.
Dubs skylight + tilled soil + VGP Vegetable Garden + Underground Food + Dubs Bad Hygiene. Those 5 mods prevent the external situation. Add Better Pawn Control, and you don't need worry of zoning.

Just started playing and tried to hunt a buffalo while there were six others. Never again. However, if you tame one, you can slaughter it without getting bodied by other buffalo.
I use to not partake in cannibalism but that was before a bunch of raiders destroy my crops and winter was coming. Ever since then I feel like it is waste to bury perfectly good emergency meat

Also Rimvali has some more farmable plants. it would help if you made a video or even just a steam guide. They grow in the dark so I love to farm them but just don't know which one to farm so I go to a random one.

@@Noobert I mean the plants are from avali lore. An the Avalis planet it is darker and far colder. The dev can’t figure out how to make the plant live in cold though.

I would say bakes are more like casseroles and, well, bakes. Maybe even pasta and the like. Foods with heavy investments of flour. Pastries and the like would fall under desserts.

I searched ‘Rimworld power tutorial’ omg so much info. I searched ‘Rimworld food tutorial’ omg 20mins of detailed nutrition advice. Omg this game is bloody huge I tell you.
