For fellow MiG pilots: this is how you should be flying your 15s and 17s against Sabers. Even if they're faster than you, as long as you have a decent amount of speed/energy putting it into a spiral climb will bait them into following you and draining all their energy, and when they stall you'll still be going strong. At that point they'll never be able to get you off their tail.
If they added MiG-3 with AM-38F it would turn like a Spitfire but only at medium speeds. It's a universal rule for most MiGs and alike aircrafts that very low speed turns are sluggish and high speed turns are not great.
I love your videos on low BR props. This one is not exception, thank you! BTW, during the war a lot of pilots switched to MiG-3 from I-16 and I-153. And they tried to fly it in a similar way. Therefore, in some war memoirs MiG-3 was mentioned as an airplane with poor characteristics. But seems like they simply used it wrong.

No wonder the few aces that did _get it,_ like Adolf Galland, managed to shoot down about a hundred enemy planes each.

mate i have learnt so much from your videos im still a noob as far as planes go i have 1600h in tank gameplay and decided to move to planes for a bit , i never enjoyed the planes because i was trash and got owned all the time , learning planes is a steep learn curve , thanks for speaking your thought process it helps more than you could imagine. cheers bro
So, one thing I've never completely figured out is how to 1v1 planes with a better climb rate _and_ a better turn rate (i.e. the entire Japanese tree after about 3.0).
Make them dive on you, turn inside them to make the dive steeper, when they compress and go back up you have to follow and shoot them down. In case you miss, good luck.
The MiG-3 was made as a high altitude fighter, and was supposed to be used as such, and in my opinion it should be used as a sort of dive-fighter. Get the altitude advantage, knock out the planes at your altitude, and keep going lower and lower, knocking out aircraft doing as such. If you do a loop do not pull up. Invert and do the loop upside-down. I haven't tried this strategy in the MiG-3 but it works very well in the P-51 and it's sister aircraft, the A-36.
As someone who is a local War Thunder shitter, videos like this that tell me I'm not great but actually try to help instead of yelling "REEEEE" are what I live for

Especially on how to approach climb ins, as at the start of the match, especially at lower ranks, you see who climbed and who didn't, and ofc who ever is higher first often will attack the other. Also, I often am just down there because I want to spade planes so I most likely have stock syndrome so it will make things harder. I have been trying to climb to a 90 degrees of the front line so that I can observe what happens first, just about in any plane, but that also can lead to me being last one on team or the one with no kills, so climb in approach is really tricky for me. Thanks!

ya idk about that thing that was said that a lot of the low BR players dont know what they are doing but i find theres alot of clubbers in these low BR planes
Doing these energy tactics is even easier on any spitfire after the mk.1, since it has a better climb rate and overall performance. Though don’t try doing so above 5km.
Better to do it with the 5.7 griffon engined one, the merlin one has no energy retention (but is the best overall relatively) and the higher br griffons face super props or jets every game so you have to turnfight. 2nd Seafire is best for it but it's a brick (most good energy fighters are tbf.) And if you're in a spit you should always be above 5km, up there you out-turn everything and if you get on or near the ass of a p-51 ,p47, 190 or 152 they can't do anything because they can't turn that high and if they try their speed jumps out the window, and they can't dive because a griffon will keep up long enough to kill/crit them.
I'm guessing you didn't use the MiG-3-15BK either because it's slightly heavier or just to not brutalize everything in a single pass with the 4 12.7mm guns xD

So that's the reason i see a lot of these planes lately... Thankfully, most of them are severely lacking in skill so they are just another easy kill for my P-400s and Spitfires :)

When you shoot a wounded plane, it's just another kill. If someone else shoots a plane you wounded, it's a "stolen kill"... Sorry, but this bugs the crap out of me when watching your otherwise great videos.

In the war the mig 3 was facing late 109Es and 109F series. Far more dangerous opponents than J20, J11 and P36.
