This thing had really weak armament a few years ago but it looks as though the ammo buff for the rifle caliber guns makes it worth taking a second look. Thanks Jengar.
DO you have any tips for realistics? I'm trying to get into them but im not that good.

I just now unlocked it only been playing for about a week and just got it today and played my first matches in it and I love this thing I got 4 kills ina roll for first time ever with this jet it’s a hell of a energy fighter
I’ve been a fan of the MiG-3-15s for ages and I can’t believe how unpopular it is. Even in an uptier it’s incredibly fast. I have both of mine lined up next to my ITP in case I get shot down and even at 3.0 the MiGs perform very well.
This is not about how popular this plane is it's about how much you feel guilty when playing this
You don't see many player play it that much not because it's bad but it's bascially go full commit war crime so most random player that have somekind of "sportsmanship" they would hesitate to play it.
ofc i play it just about 2 game for spade it and that's about it.
ppl dont play it, because most players early on dont have a clue, try to turnfight in it and decide the yak's and la's are better. Only much later in the learning curve will they be able to realize how good it is. But often ppl by then are aiming at other things.. late props or jets. or unlocking new trees.
@@jengar6258 I think it ended up being a natural fit for me because I primary US planes, which require a similar approach.
@@Zelectrocutica Cant feel guilty booming into helping a team member with 4 cluster flies on their tail. Especially if those team members are new and getting hammered by top level squad players...that's the true "moral" obligation if there has to be one.

If you liked this one then you'll love the Mig 3-15 (BK) this thing can devastate any bomber in it sights. It handles even worse than the Mig 3-15, but same strategy. Fly high and attack bombers, then dive on other fighters afterwards.

Also the mig 3-34. Dual 20mm cannons with little weapon spread will devastate anything at br2.7.

The BK version is even more ridiculous. The 12.7’s set everything on fire.
true, it does face 3.3 in uptiers though. Making the competition more steep.
Why would you play it if you have yak-7b at the same br?
The mig 3 is one of my favs. Strong guns, airspawn, rugged and survivable plane! Great all aroud

I see you've been on a bit of a streak with the Russian planes. Another aircraft I rarely see talked about is the LaGG-3s. I get they're probably outclassed, or outshined by the Yak series, and I-16s, but I'd love to see your take on one of them. Loved the video, and can't wait to see what other planes you've got lined up for us, Jengar! :)
The LaGG-3s are phisically painful to fly

I discovered it by accident two days ago and at 3.5k alt it's just unstoppable. Been playing realistic only for 3 days now.

The BK model is worth the grab, it’s amazing as well as this one.

TBF-1C would be a nice episode. It played such a major role in the battle of Midway and had quite a few different versions but War Thunder only granted us one. It has a low BR with 50 cals. I miss the Historical Events the game used to have. Loved Torpedoing enemy ships.
when we go trough the us rank reviews we'll visit it. soviets are first.
I agree that a lot of so called "OP" planes are good but beatable, however somethings like the cw21 in a downtier has so many advantages to such a degree that it is hard to not say its OP, i mean its climb rate, turn and MER are arguably competative for a superprop
there's only a few of those that i might come a bit your way for. CW21 is probably one of them.

My war thunder experience is grinding to fly the planes I want. Not doing as well as I want in them and flying planes I didn't want and absolutely crushing it. This is one of those planes. Researched straight past it for other things and came back to it months later and it was amazing.
I like the bk model has a more powerful engine and other 2x 50 cals

Plane can definitely take a beating. A memorable RB game was one where I only got 1 kill..... The kill was on a bf109 in a 1v1, after my engine was set on fire by base aa and burned for like a minute. Flew the cannon version in sim. Pretty much the only threats to you are bf109s that jump you, and even then you can dive and run away if your energy allows for it. Also harder to aim in sim, so you can take a few hits.

For that event they did, I used the B-34 for it. It seems that for the Minotaur event Gaijin decided rank 3 would be the minimum requirement.

@@jengar6258 yeah gunnery, formation flying, defensive box, knowing when to go for bombs or actually living, a while bunch of things
I'm having trouble with the mig 3 34. it used to be my best plane, but now somethings off. Jengar could you have a look at it? It would definitely help. How do I BnZ if it compresses so bad!!
I swear, when i got this plane i went from about 5 kill average to around 11 kill average. It's so damn good

I've heard of it! ...Because That's what kind of nerd I am. My parents gave me an airplane book in 1980, and there was a picture of the MiG-3 that made an impression on me. It was white, with a red arrow on the side, where most fighters were dull green or gray. It was also the pointiest thing in the book that wasn't a jet.
About 35 years later I was reading about the MiG-3 and was disappointed to find it didn't get developed very well and the factory... Let's say they seem to have made them in a hurry.
But when I was searching the internet for the virtues of the MiG-3, I found that there WAS such a thing as a MiG-3 ace, Alexander Pokryshkin actually liked it a lot, and he some advice about how to fly it.
Since Gaijin gave it an air spawn in Realistic Battles, the MiG-3 finally has a useful niche.

Mig 3 will get an update to wing area in the future (increase by around 2m^2), so it should turn better

it's not widely known i think because it's a MiG
and when someone talk about Mikoyan most people see as coldwar MiG-25 or MiG-29

One thing I notice is I rarely ever see anyone using the rudder, the rudder is heavily overlooked imo!
I love my 3-15 one of the first planes to give me good matches regularly. ;)
I've used this plane to seal club when im having a bad day

About the surviveabillity: Ive been hit 2 times by airfield aa and my engine burned a bit but i still made it to my arfield which is insane to me my plane was slowly losing alt and speed and it looked like cheese and i had a hole in the tail (got hit by biplane short burst) Still able to fly and land its strong against biplane ammo but rips apart by anything big

I always used this plane like it was a fighter because I never knew it was an interceptor lmao.

It's good. I find it more useful than the Yak series plane
its a great plane, dont sniff the yak's though, once you get used to the ripspeed in a dive and learn to play with that the yak's are also fantastic.
Used to be one of my favorite planes, but it is now a 2.3 plane which I think is too high.
becomes harder in uptiers for sure.
I’ve played this plane for a few weeks and have a 1-40 kd ratio, and the one death was me crashing on short final.
This plane is great for rank 2 dailes!

I like to climb at 25° in this plane, I now it isn't the most effective way to climb but boy it climbs
it definitely does climb.
the problem with climb degree is depending on your speed its going to vary how long it takes to get to altitude, thats why i climb by ias
I used that plane some times, as i'm not a good player at all, i've taken surprisingly lots of damage. So luck aside its durability at that br is very good xd. Y preffer the mig 3-15BK. It has 2 extra 12.7 berezins in gunpods, which makes it a monster, and it also keeps it's airspawn .__. As the maneuverability is absolute trash you wont feel too much of a change in the mig 3-15BK with the pods xdddd hmmmm high alt performance is also good, i dont know why, but it works better than low tier yaks ands laggs xd

One of my favourite planes, I just love flying it, thanks for reviewing it. But now the secret's out, and soon we'll be seeing more and more of them in RB. Best low tier plane by far though!

Tbh idk why this plane at 1.7 and other MIG-3 at 2.0 and 2.3 correspondingly. Maybe because awful turn times or bad climb. Imho those planes must be 1 or 0.7 br higher each.
I'm using it to learn how to boom and zoom in AB. It can't turn at low speed but high-speed it's not that bad. It can take a lot more punishment then and I-15.

@@jengar6258what I meant was it's good at weaving through enemy planes going flat out very close to the ground. Sort of like horizontal boom and zoom rather than vertical.

I've stopped playing this bird (plus Potez 630 and not even mention CW21) for they are unfair at their BR. Ridiculous KD with more than 10:1 is not the proof of a ballanced vehicle.
Migs with higher BR are completely different story, they suffer a lot in uptiers. A lot.
I dont feel dirty no ;) no guilt, as i sair, my mindset doesnt register O and P together. Not when i fly against them, nor when i fly the great planes. One has to be the best plane at a certain br. if they nerf it it'll be another one. There will always be a best plane.
The famous Soviet pilot Alexander Pokryshkin started the war on this plane.

After the war, Pokryshkin wrote his memoirs entitled "The Sky of War".

this plane is way to low at 1.7 ! and the airspawn is just a + for the bias.
a forgotten plane in the dungeons of WT. They have so much stuff to do, this wont be a priority. The snail is real!

@GODSGENERAL agree 2.0 at least or 2.3 sounds more fitting but the real problem is that the performance is actual better than the stats say.
@@toniberger6005 im sorry, but there is no russian bias. there's just varying best planes in different br's, and they are spread amongst the nations.

Need to keep in mind that a lot of players at 1.7 are probably still new and don't know how to handle their planes yet.
Now the mig-3 is tiered at 2.3 BR and is just outperformed by everything, lol
