There it is, after me saying I can't fly MiG for over 3 years I finally sat down and tried to learn them. Here it is I guess omegalul.
The MiG-15Bis For russia, germany as well as the J-2 for china are all identical with the only difference being the J-2 getting a carrier spawn.

@@Gl1tchman MiG-17 should follow mostly to the guide, except it probably can't turn as well as MiG-15 but gain more acceleration and top speed in exchange. All in all, a very capable energy fighter, and it's advisable to always bring more energy around you.
Since it's 9.0 right now, getting sucked into 9.3 or even 9.7 black hole is guaranteed. Expect to be a support fighter and help your team bully F11Fs, Harriers, A-4Es and A-7Ds
With advanced missiles at that tier, it's generally not a good idea to climb too way up at this meta.
Check DEFYN's Shenyang F-5 video, in there he will indicate a playstyle in Shenyang F-5 that can be used MiG-17(AS) itself. It can be a valuable lesson.
Well, sorry for making you write this guide, but it was just a joke, also I am pretty sure 17 turns very slightly better, has better roll and top speed, but 15 has better energy retention, still, hope someone else learns something from this.

I was in a battle, flying the Vautour IIa IDF/AF, and we had 5 people on our team, and there was just ONE guy left on the enemy team, and he was flying a MiG-15 bis, and he won the match, he single handedly killed 5 people, he won a dogfight against 4 people, then he strafed someone on our airfield. Great job, you deserved that win. He was the best pilot I've ever seen.

The longer I play this plane the more impressive that shot becomes lol. I can't hit anything outside of 500m but luckily I can stay on anyone's 6 in this thing.

I remember one time I got a 1.2km pilot snipe on a Zero, but I was in the J22 with 4 13.2mms so it isn't really as impressive.

Trick is to just purposefully aim too far ahead of the target and just hold the trigger for a few seconds, will run into the shots

Request: is it possible for you to so a video on air combat in ground RB? I find it WAY more difficult and struggle alot in that mode- a tips&tricks or kind of guideline video for ground RB air combat would be great- we all wan to be better pilots - in ALL plane modes 🤗
I kinda wish we would get another mig alley event. Back in 2015 and 2016 this thing was the pinnacle of aviation in war thunder, it’s sadly past it’s prime fighting all these post Korea fighters.

You know for me personally, I was using vertical targeting, one day I turned it off just because, and I found out it was holding me back. Im like 4 times better with its cannons now.
Think it mostly depends on how you aim your guns. Altho i've notices in the mig21s with the gsh 23s i prefer 500m vertical targeting. Helps me compensate for the bad placement of the gun and the bullet drop

Yeah, times changed. It's thing at 8.7 now, wich means you are against 9.3 every match, so you can't catch anyone. Also AIM-9J from harrier in full uptier is regular occurance.
Between the sabres at 8.3 and mig 15 at 8.3, there has been some good games for the past few months when we get mainly sabre and mig games. Might be the best air combat gameplay available right now in war thunder. Sabre vs Mig is the most balanced jet gameplay for the most part excluding one or two models of later sabre that are a bit better than the Mig, both planes have slight advantages and disadvantages towards the other plane and it makes for great 1v1's, 2v2's, I even had a great long 2v3 battle the other day which last around 5 minutes of pure dogfighting.

@@Sunshrine2 8.3 that can shit at everything below 8.3, you can do whatever you want with your performance, nothing will even come close. Only threat would be Sabre (assuming it has energy over you, because acceleration of A-5 and F-25 are dog shit) or planes on uptier. But uptiers doesnt really happen because everything above gets soaked up into 9.7 battles and get clapped by Mig-19
@@southweststrangla9591 Well, MiG-15 vs F-86 Sabre is a totally fair fight. You just need to know the differences between axial flow and centrifugal flow engines. F-25 and later are completely on par with MiG-15Bis or even better when flown properly. A-5 is power hogged, but so is MiG-15 non bis. That is moreover slow as a potato.
Nonetheless, the other parts of your argument stand. 8.3 downtiered anywhere means a roflstomp for MiGs and Sabres making it unfun for any 7.3-8.0 jets.

@@southweststrangla9591 I feel that F-86 is more forgiving given it’s weaponry and agility at all speeds. “To fly it right” means to never drop below 700 kmph and you are fine.
MiGs weapons are a horror for a newbie.
I think this really boils down to personal preference.

Hey Defyn, I played lot of MiG 17AS and the MiG 9L after your sale video. Just wanted to say you have an awesome aim and that for some reason, the armor piercing belts are much better on the MiGs than the air targets one. If you landed those hits where you got crits, im pretty sure the shells wouldve taken their wings off. Do try them if you get a chance.

I find 20 minutes necessary in the mig-17 in uptiers because there isn't really anything most transonics can do against competently flown supersonics except fly defensively. It's not like 20 minutes or 7 minutes makes much of a difference regarding the energy and turn differences (except vs sabres), so you have to outlast most planes with afterburners
I just can't believe how good your aim in this thing is :O. I could fly whole battle, making dozens of approaches and fire only when I'm 100% sure I will hit and...end a battle with no ammo and no hits on enemys xD. Mig-15 flight characteristics is just so good for me (except roll), but actually hitting your targets is the biggest issue in this plane :F
I just usually become a flying brick and don't get my guns on anything in the mig15bis. I think I learned how to no fall into this trap from your video tho, so I'm eager to try it now. Great gameplay!

I got a head on gun kill in this. Then got cocky next few matches and stopped doing them shortly after. Love this plane. So brilliant and so frustrating. Need to stop climbing in a straight line as that's when I get picked off
I sucked at this plane for so long but once u really learn it it’s an absolute beast of a jet the guns pack a punch and the climb rate? Omg does it really help u in jet fights

It's funny coz the last matches is pretty much what happens when facing migs in the swift f7 except the rocket head ons would be kills
It may seem obvious but when you bank the plane stays banking, my set up as soon as the 'D' (roll right) is released the plane automatically levels out. I realise you use free look for situational awareness. It would make these terrific game montages even better if you had a 'for dummies' tutorials on all settings you use and tips for maneuvering, attacking and defensive measures explaining what you are doing with the keyboard and mouse to achieve such aerobatics.

Going 50-60% throttle is a legitimate thing you can do to not get strafed with 8mins by sitting at alt whilst still going 500-600+ can extend the fuel probably by 3-5mins and double it at the extreme

I have found that once the MiG-15s are in a low speed furball, there biggest threat is a competent F-80, because I've absolutely stomped MiGs one after another in low speed turnfight
Dont think a good mig pilot would play on turn rate but would rather energy trap you. But good thing 80% of them dont know what they're doing. Free pickings most of the times

In GFRB I got into it against a canberra with a Yak-3, I broke my flaps beforehand so it was just a stalemate until the game ended. Pretty surprising how good it turns
Making wide loops helps with them. The vertical is your friend against it
MiG15bis is my 2nd fav jet, my fav is the f25/30 :)) I have pretty much every aircraft in the game and I have the most fun in those two jets.
Hey man i was wondering if you could try out the Ki-96, I bought it back in like 2014 and i just started using it again and its pretty fun, its like a mini ki-83 but better for its tier
Once orange doom made me try 300 with vert targeting.. so it became only reason i still play this game :) not the best jet in game, but most fun indeed

Interesting. When I played it I liked it way more than the following one, the german mig-19. I hate this plane at 9.7. Nearly everytime I get uptiered hard, see a sheer could of Phantoms followed by a rain of missiles.
I love the Mig-15bis/17 they play similarly but i they fly much better for me than any sabre.

Great video Defyn. My take away from this video is that you want to get people slow when flying the mig15, and it becomes a brick at high speed. Does this make it the zero of the jet age? Could you now make a vid from the side of the sabre please? I have no idea which sabre is best.

I always use my flaps on every MiG except for the MiG-19 because the flaps actually make your turn rate worse at lower speeds and lower your AoA after the initial pull. All the other flaps on the MiGs will help you pull harder with your elevator.

Ever since gaijin removed the 2 minutes until tickets drain when there's no planes left in enemy team, my RP gain has been cut completely since there's no time for me to kill ground targets anymore
I know it's late but I started 0-14 with it. I then went 35-2. Once you get the feel for it I'm sure you'll love it.
i woul like to see some corsair´s, a bit of the Us tree that cant climb or turn that well and see his magic on those, that would be nice
They climb as well or better than their US peers. And they turn better then most people realize they just don't retain speed in a turn.

@@fabioamaral1791 the corsairs are the only US naval aircraft that are actually good. If you were talking about the f6f's, f7f, f8f's then yeah i would agree they aren't nearly as good/competitive as the other US planes
he already has a few videos on corsair. TBH corsairs are those 'love it or hate it' planes, but also definitely one of the strongest competitors in the US tree
I fly both 20 mins sabre and mig 15 and still do pretty well I'm more of a guy who playes out the kill rather then just doing it it's very fun whether I lose money or not

I just came out of an uptier in my MiG-15bis it was a 1v4 situation against 3 F2 Sabres and 1 Swift F7. I've been flying MiGs for years and these new Sabre pilots make careless mistakes. I made these guys slow down below 700kph and from there it was pure ez.
Listen to Defyn guys. Notice on how he's manuvering and even picking his targets. The 15bis has fantastic energy retention at its BR but be careful and try not to overestimate your enemy. Learn the guns. They're slow but if u land your shots you'll do some pretty decent dmg or of course you get fucked due to de-sync or the god awful servers not detecting the hits.

Is it just me, or since the patch dropped have there been lots of squads of MiG-15s rushing into the new BR range? I always get eaten up by them (mostly due to my aggressive stupidity), and I've seriously been considering grinding either the rest of the German, or Russian trees for this jet lol.
