Hi Ray, thank you so much for this vlog. I’m so glad to find your channel. Please keep them coming! I plan on using it for vlogs as well, but with a filmmaking cinematic touch. Gotta learn first. I would love to see you test if you can make like a mini movie scene to test it’s capabilities, please. Thank you in advance. - Jesse
Beyond a coincidence that I find your FX3 vlog test at Universal Orlando when I'm looking for the best theme park camera! Your presentation of facts and editing skills are superb. Fantastic video, this helps immensely - especially the low-light test in Nocturn! Blessings to you!
Thanks Alex. I highly appreciate you checking this video out. I was just back in Universal with the FX3 (and new Weebill 3S) a few days ago: th-cam.com/video/GauE-xXnHo8/w-d-xo.html
Nice informative video! Your shots look great. I noticed that you are maintaining 1/50 shutter in your shots and even in bright scenes the shutter speed looks correct. Are you using an ND or just cranking your aperture?
Hi Raymond. First of all, Thank you!! I am using 'Rear Lens' Fixed ND filters. Usually the ND1.8 makes it where I can shoot at f2.8 in the Daytime at 4K, 24 frames, 1/50 shutter. I have 2 other Videos all about these Rear filters. Hope this explains more: th-cam.com/video/9ksISueEYLE/w-d-xo.html
Bro, I'm thinking I gotta get the Sigma for my Fx3. I normally use the a6600 when I'm in situations like you were in because of the evf for photos. But I'm taking the Fx3 for sure and my Fujifilm x100v
Absolutely recommend them. I'm in the same predicament. I bring an a7R3 for High Res Photos, and the FX3 for Amazong Video. Keep the Sigmas: 24-70mm on 1 camera and the 14-24mm on the other.
@@MarineX Congrats!! That is a really fun lens to use on the FX3 with the Zoom rocker right on the grip. I wish Sony would make a handful of f2.8 PowerZooms. That would be great! Oh, in the FX3 you can control the speed the of the Zoom too (and you can set different zoom speeds whether you're in Standby or Recording). I keep it fast while in Standby so I can catch my frame really quick, then set it to Slow while recording to make it nice and smooth. It's a good lens.
@@RayValencia thanks much. I'll check out your video on adjusting speeds and pair it with the Sony IR remote for dramatic effects when filming by myself in my TH-cam studio
Thanks. I haven't made a theme park camera video since this one...until today's video I posted! At Disney World Star Wars land. I think I want to do more of these. Do you think people like seeing the theme parks videos?
@@RayValencia for me it wasn't the theme park necessarily, but how you showed real use cases instead of sitting at a desk explaining stuff. The theme park was a cool backdrop for that, though. Keep doing what you are doing!
Hey, Ray! When filming at Universal Studios, did you have your FX3 set to Auto White Balance, or were you on the CIne El setting with custom white balance? Thanks!
Hey! This camera did come with Cine EI when I first got the FX3 at its release. That was a firmware upgrade 2 years after this video was made. But I never use Auto WB bc it makes it harder to color grade.
@@RayValencia I appreciate the response. I’m in Orlando as well. Just picked on my fx3 and I’m using the Sony 16-35 f4 pz. What did you do for stabilization in this video? Did you have it on standard and then run it through Catalyst browse afterwards? My biggest struggle right now is combating the shake from every footstep.
@James That's awesome. If you recognize me out and about, say what's up! I didn't use Catalyst browse for anything in this video except for that specific example. I used Active Steadyshot. It crops in a little but with a 16-35mm it shouldn't affect you too much. I was on a 14-24mm Sigma.
nice! real use work on this one! I am still eyeballing this camera as I do vlogs, run and gun and film events and stuff where I can't control the lights etc.
Thanks! The FX3 is a great compact powerful tool. I highly recommend it. Especially for low-light run and gun moments. I just got my cage for it yesterday. New video on rigging it out coming soon.
@@RayValencia nice I look forward to seeing a cage on it. I am hoping Sony comes up with a Fx3 package without the handle sound module, I don't even own an xlr microphone and probably wouldn't ever use it. I use wireless lavs or small rode or diety mics.
Hey Ro. Yes, I always keep mine on Sunny Mode. It's got about the same brightness as most Sony's in Sunny mode. Great in the shade, decent in direct sunlight. 👌
@@RayValencia i watched it before this one but i don't want to use my XLR when I make vlog. That's why I'm asking you what cable you are using with your rode pro +? Thanks

Awesome. I just hopped over there and watched a handful of their current videos. The footage looks great, Ryan. What color profile do you like to use? For lenses, I have the Sigma Art Zooms: 24-70 f2.8, 14-24mm f2.8, & 35mm f1.4. And the Sony 85mm f1.8.
@@RayValencia Thanks! I have been shooting in pp10, HLG2 BT.2020. Makes the turn around a bit quicker since it doesn't need too much in post like SLOG 3 would.
Lol not even close, this is a work tool for me. I've already made half this camera back. But I shoot on the FS7 at work every day, and I own an a7S2 and a7R3... so which small Sony would you have ordered if you were mainly a video shooter that already owns a 42MP stills camera?
More FX3 videos coming soon! What do you guys want to know?

LOL.. I'm in Florida can you teach me how to use it.. I feel like I just bought an expensive doorstop 🤣
haha! Congrats on the camera! That is an expensive doorstep though. We need to get you set up properly!
The FX3 has a built in fan right? Is the fan loud that it would ruin the audio
The fan is completely silent. You fan feel the air, but you can't hear it.
What Mic settings are you running with your video mic Pro plus? Do you mostly use the +20 dB setting and bump it down when in loud environments?
Hey James. No, I normally keep that Mic on 0 (no gain) and my Sony FX3 around 6-10 Gain. I rarely use the +20 unless a subject is far away.
