I started watching your videos as prep for my Orlando trip this summer, but I've honestly been watching them over and over just because I really enjoy watching you two enjoy Universal and now Disney World, which makes me even more excited for my own trip! Went today. The line times are so accurate. We first rode Velocicoaster and the sign said 35 minutes and we waited 20. Same with Hagrid's; sign said 85 minutes and we actually waited 40. It was a really great way to get out of the heat for awhile

It kinda,maybe, sorta sounds like you're saying the signs aren't all that accurate.
Explaining this from an employee perspective, especially with hagrids:
We post our wait times based on an equal amount of express and stand by guests getting pulled through. Normally though (especially on not crazy busy days) there aren’t many express people so the regular line moves faster.
This is especially true on hagrids where regular express isn’t offered, it’s only people with accommodations or single use express passes, so the regular line will 90% of the time move faster than posted.
It really speaks to how well maintained the queue times are when Universal Express is considered unnecessary.

Universal usually does a good job of keeping things moving!
As an annual pass holder myself, I too enjoy observing folks' first-time reactions to rides and shows. I recently rode with a large family on Jurassic Falls, and their very loud screams and laughter at the T-rex were awesome.
My favorite is always riding with newbies. Mummy is a great one for newbies, as well as spiderman! Hulk is always hilarious as well
Haha we love it! It always makes our day too. It’s the closest we can get to experiencing it for the first time again ourselves!
The velocicoaster screams are worse lol
If your children are big fans of the HP books and movies, the shows in Diagon Alley are usually based on the fairy tales Hermione read to her friends in the Deathly Hallows. I saw the play based on the tale of the Three Brothers. It was fun and children would enjoy it.

I've been to universal twice and never bought the express pass. The first trip was 3 days during my college spring break when it was pretty busy. We still got on every ride we wanted and rode our favorites at least twice. The second time was in February when it was quieter and it was actually so cold we wore pants and sweatshirts. Two days was plenty of time for that trip.
That’s awesome! Express is definitely a personal choice about waiting in line, and you can definitely have a great trip without it!
Here is a tip- We bring collapsible cups to fill up with water. Unfortunately, at Universal (unlike Disney), the big cups have to be put in lockers before you go on rides which we feel is a pain to do. The collapsible cups fit in pockets. Thanks for another great video! Blessings!
We always have the camera bag with us, so carrying the cups doesn’t bother us! Lol a lot of people feel the same way about the cups though!
I had the same thought with that huge-ass cup. In Universal you better walk around with as little on you as possible. Water is free anyway.
I have one major gripe about the lockers: sometimes, you don't get a chance to adjust your eyes to the darkness so you're fumbling around while actually blind. Then you have to wait what feels like a year for your eyes to adjust to the dim screen and swipe your ticket to get assigned a locker. Worse, if everyone wants to get on the ride, it's a huge shoving match. I'm honestly surprised that nobody has been trampled. At least the guests try to not trip over each other while struggling to find their assigned lockers. I think the worst ones are the lockers assigned to HP Forbidden Journey in Is. of Adventure. It was ROUGH trying to get to a locker. PS: you have to swipe the card at the screen to be assigned your locker. Of course, remember to KEEP your ticket in your pocket or stuff it in your shoe if you were crazy enough to come in pants that have no pockets. You will need it to open your locker.
I’ve only been to universal once so far, but to me it seems the best way to get the highest tier express pass is just stay at one of the deluxe hotels. I did the math and it was cheaper than staying at a cheap hotel and buying express pass.
A lot of the time it’s way cheaper to stay at a premier hotel! Not always, though, so it’s good to price check!
When I used to squeeze all of my HHN trip into like 1-2 days (because I didnt get PTO) I would always come home feeling like I need a vacation from my vacation. I was so stressed out and tired from all the walking and from trying to get everything into such a small amount of time. Now that I can actually take my time in Orlando once a year, it's so nice and refreshing. We spend 2 weeks there for HHN and like 1/3 of the days are like Chill days. Much needed. Don't overlook chill days.
That's so nice!! We definitely know what you mean about the short trips where you're trying to squeeze everything in. It's so much fun, but boy was it exhausting!

As someone who is pregnant, I fully agree that there’s so much more to do than the rides! Went back in February and had a blast going to show, casting spells with our wand, and trying Mardi Gras food!

My suggestion on the Express Pass, is to stay at one of the hotels that offer it free. Even if you’re paying over $400 a night for the room, everyone staying in the room gets an EP. It really is the best deal. I’m going again while Lowes Portifino is being renovated and got a GREAT deal on the room (under $300) with the free EP. Win/Win deal!!😁
Oh yes! We love the premier hotels!!
The Club Rooms at the 3 major resorts are a must for us now. Years ago we were staying at the Portofino and our bathroom ceiling leaked with the water from the room on the floor above us. And no hot water for the bathtub. They repaired our room until 2am - and the next morning our bathroom ceiling collapsed!! They moved us to another room, took some $ off our bill and added Club Room access to all 5 of us. It costs a lot more nowadays to add this benefit, but we eat breakfast there, stop by for snacks during the day & return in the evening for drinks & desserts.
I generally either go alone, or with one person. The extra money each night just isn't worth it.
Generally though, the premier hotels are probably a bargain for many guests.
As for me, I'm perfectly content at the Aventura.

The express pass is spot on. I would also add please dont make the mistake of not reviewing the park map before your trip. When the parks are crowded you want to save precious steps and time by not getting turned around or lost. And lastly, if you are going into a long queue with young kids PLEASE make sure they dont need the bathroom. Imagine being 45 mins into the gueue line and your little one looks up and says ... I gotta go real bad. You may be able to find a team member that escort you out and back in... but hassle😢
That happened to us with our little nephew on Hagrid’s! Lol his dad had to take him to the bathroom in Hogsmeade, and we had to wait for them to get back. We couldn’t agree more with both of those!!
Not as young as we used to be, feel the pain.
It's unfortunate that many underestimate the size of Universal. I think the problem is they may have been there when it was small (😂) and some came back after the expansion which is when the Harry Potter lands were built. They were probably overwhelmed by the size, thinking they could do it all in one day. That USED to be true - in 1990! I finally had a chance to come back after all that time and was still reeling in shock by the size of the parks. I was glad that I set aside three days to make sure I could see both lands and explore CityWalk without trying to have a heart attack. If you are on limited time, do not schedule fewer than two days. You need one day at Universal and one at Is. of Adventure. Remember, the crowds are NOT as thin as they used to be. Unfortunately, it is true that Disney fans are defecting in large numbers and many season passholders are grumbling that the slow days at Universal are getting rare.

I came to Orlando aged 55 for the first time in March last year, came another two times as my partner and I were AP pass holders; saw you both in a queue in HN, I tried to shout but it was sooooo hot in the queue. Can’t afford it this year and am suffering from withdrawal symptoms so thank you both for your updates as I feel like I’m home 😊

When I visited in 2021, Gringotts had a posted wait of 60 minutes. It ended up being 3 hours. I had no idea how long the queue was and kept thinking the ride was just in the next room. It was awful.
Oh wow, that’s terrible! I wonder if something went wrong and caused that issue. That’s a nightmare!

You can also use the refillable cups for ICEEs. We discovered this last time when we asked for some Moose Juice and Goose Juice, it was a nice not advertised perk. :) This is also where are favorite break area is. There are benches right there with easy access to the Freestyle machine and bathrooms.

THIS! The Icee would cool us off immeasurably on those 90 degree days. SOOOOOOooooo worth it.
The free icees are great! We don't get them very often, but the moose juice goose juice is a great addition!!

I always say with the steps thing it depends on the person. If you are a runner and so is your spouse and you are both native Floridians and running 6 miles sounds like a fun Saturday afternoon, then no worries. If you aren't partly insane like myself for sure pacing is hugely important. You will have more fun by not over doing it.

@ThePughTwo yeah I've seen a lot of burnt out people absolutely miserable because they aren't used to the heat and that much walking.
So erring on the side of caution is absolutely a good plan.
Am an ups driver one thing I have learned is that don’t be cheap on your feet. I buy expensive boots and see a feet doctor due to having plantar fasciitis but it’s gotten better am defiantly going to tell my wife that we need to invest in some good shoes I already have some in mine. Cause I need to wear good shoes or my feet will
Kill me. I don’t tack my steps well my watch does but I never look at how many steps I do in a day but I know it’s a lot at days I average 123 miles of driving just driving alone in one day and and one with my route early I like it cause it’s more driving then walking hahah.
We went to universal Wednesday and Thursday and made a couple of the mistakes you were talking about. My wife was so excited for the park the we did two 12 hour days and then everyone was exhausted on our Epcot day. I’m also a bit disappointed that I spent $1000 on express passes for everyone for the Thursday and almost everything was a walk on. I bought them well in advance so I didn’t pay as much as day of. I know you can’t really predict park volume but they were still trying to sell express for $270 each when we were in the park
It’s crazy how not busy the parks have been! That’s kind of the difficult balance with express. If you had come a week earlier, you would’ve been so happy you had them. We hope you still had a great time at Epcot even though you were exhausted!!

That last one is probably going to be the hardest for me. I want to do and see it all and thanks to your videos and others that you have recommended I have learned about so many things besides the rides.
However compared to Disneyland it's still going to feel like less than when we were there with them opening at 8 and not closing until midnight.😜

My brain just screamed NO at the initial price, but when you showed how those refills added up...now I'm a believer! VIDEO IDEA! It would be amazing if you guys did a food video for people with dietary restrictions, like gluten free dairy free stuff. My wife has food allergies and it’s always tough to find things she can eat. We’re visiting universal later this year and I haven’t seen to much content on the subject. Love you guys!

Hopefully Universal has improved their refill stations. We went last May and purchased the cups for our 3 day trip. Unfortunately, most of the times we went to any of the refill stations, there was no ice. This occurred as early as noon in both parks. Found this to be very aggravating. Soda and water out of the refill stations was fairly cold but not as cold as with ice and on a hot day this did not work for us. When we asked cast members about the machines being out of ice, they just looked puzzled and shrugged their shoulders as if to say, not my problem.
Yeah they do the best they can to haul ice around and refill them, but unfortunately it’s hard to keep up with it when the parks are busy. It can be frustrating to get a warm drink, but we understand. There are a few “lesser known” stations that you can almost always count on to still have ice/whatever drink you’re wanting!
They definitely never improve that because i haven't been for a few years and that was the problem i had..couldnt find refill stations with ICE and then would find one and the Line would be extremely long...very frustrating.
Do you guys ever 'use' the parks as a way to meet new people?
I've always wondered what it'd be like to live near Universal, a truly international hub, and constantly be meeting new cultures of people living their best life in the parks.
We’ve met several people through the parks! It’s never been something where we necessarily set out to make friends, but we’ve gotten to know some team members and other locals just from bumping into them all the time!
3 weeks from tomorrow, yay! We have our cups, staying at Royal Pacific-free express passes. yay! Already have reservations at Cowfish, Antojitos and Toothsomes! Tyler and Anna, your info made planning our trip so easy. Thanks so much! $52 for just drinks! That was a shocker.😮

That would be neat but as long as they have a channel on this site, everything is great.
These parks have absolutely no shame and take every dime of your money they possibly can. $30 just to park, $270 for a single ticket, $15 for one slice of pizza and another $200 if you want expresses passes so you don't stand in line all day. It's ridiculous.

@@cesarrazo3578 I was saying welcome to the world, where cost of living is higher, tax is higher on all products and companies like these need to make mass money for their board and investors. It’s not bootlicking, everyone’s feeling it, the only bootlickers are the ones who complain and nothing happens 😂
@@MrEllis2007 they are also feeling the taxing atm, so it’s not inherently their fault.
I would say the EPs are worth it over children’s breaks from school and major national holidays. I flew here from Massachusetts and will probably not return for a few years, so I’m glad my family and I could skip the whole line - it’s spring break for kids in most states and the park was absolutely packed.
Express is super helpful when it’s busy!! You get spoiled skipping the lines lol

I am from Brazil. I was in Orlando last month (May, 2023) and went to Universal Park and Disney World. I didn't know this refil cup. So I liked much more the Universal Park. This has excellents roller coasters, amazing simulators, and Harry Potter's place. I just found your channel, and I liked. You gained a subscribe. Yeah! =D

Love you two! I live in the north so I only get to visit a couple of times a year. Between visits I watch your videos to get my Universal fix and new information on the parks. What you said about getting exhausted walking around the park is so true! I usually go down there for a week and stay in one of the on-site hotels. But I feel if I’m not moving all the time I’m wasting my vacation. We go and go and go until we just tank!
We feel the exact same way! It’s just so hard to slow down!! Lol

My toes are STILL healing from my trip in December last year! I agree, take it easy! I've have three feet surgeries and over did myself far too much in just one weekend.
Oh no! We're so sorry to hear that! Unfortunately it's easy to do. We spent a night with soggy shoes during HHN two years ago, and it took my feet months to get back to normal. It can be rough!! lol

I'd definitely say meeting Anna, riding Velocicoaster and Hagrids, and the wand experience was totally worth my toenails falling off 😅😆

Hi Anna & Tyler! As always, great tip for park visits. The only thing that I do not do is the freestyle cup, I just do not want to carry that cup all day with me. But it can be a big money saver, I tend over hydrate before going to the park and then drink water when I get food and refill that cup as you pointed out.
We get that! We already have the camera bad when we’re there, so it’s not much more to put the cup in the drink pocket. A lot of people have been enjoying the cup holders they’ve been selling lately too!
@@ThePughTwo a drink holder might make it easier, maybe you guys can get a picture of it and show in an upcoming video.
Your channel is the reason we know about the freestyle cups! We bring ours back every time and it saves us a ton. We're sad that the other popular theme parks done have them. 😊 and check premier hotels for express, people!! Only way we do express now.

Thanks guys, some great advice. I remember on our first visit, getting blisters on everyone's feet because we walked way too much. Suspect you noticed shows less as you are adults, people with kids go to the shows. To get some downtime between rides 😂

Hey, love the video, so informative! I just have one question, so I'm visiting from abroad for the Parks on 14-15th May, with one other person. I'm going to take a park to park ticket. Just wanted to ask should I get an express pass for us for these dates? I'm super confused as its a lot of money and I checked some crowd calendars which said these dates have low crowds.

Nice video! LOL about your 40,000 steps observation. I recall doing a max of 21K at Epcot not too long ago and hitting the wall. Makes me reflect how step-counting is a relatively recent fad; wonder what my limit would have been 30 years ago. Enjoy your youth! 😉

Love the videos! What do you do with the cups when you go on a ride? Dump the rest of your drink and put it in your bag or locker?
Exactly! Lots of the locker stations even have a designated place to dump them, or we just pour them out in the mulch!
FTR, on our trip last Dec, we were able to refill the freestyle cups (not water) at the food stands for free every day all day. Without re-uping it. 😊

As we've gotten older, we found that comfortable shoes and hydration are pretty key to a good day. We also bring the ginger capsules for motion sickness, which work great. We usually get some sort of breakfast at the hotel, or just get a late start and get an early lunch (Confisco or Lombards) and take the day as it comes. Often, we'll book an evening reservation for dinner in one of the parks (typically Mythos or Lombards) and just return for dinner after taking an afternoon break during peak heat. You're absolutely right about not pushing yourself too hard. We'll look at each other and say "hotel?" or "food?" and go take a break.
That’s the way to do it! Taking breaks and avoiding the hottest part of the day is always the right choice lol. We agree about the shoes, too. We’re walking so much down here it feels like it’s more important than ever! We always have Dramamine on hand for Tyler, too, but they have it at med services in a pinch!
