I just got into 3D printing this past week and have found myself watching more and more of your past videos. These things are great. Thank you so much for sharing your expertise and tips with us newbs.
I just started this Hobby with an Ender 3 Pro and thought I was limited to my prints; thank you for these videos and guides on using smaller printers, as I just printed my first Halo ODST helmet thanks to you. Please keep up these great videos for novices like me.
Big thanks to you for doing these videos, got my Ender 3 one week ago with intent on rebuilding my Predator costume with NO fiberglass, way to heavy. Your to the point, no bullship approach to teaching is perfect, thanks again!!
THIS MAKES ME SO HAPPY! I got a small 3d printer for christmas and was worried it was too small to print mandalorian armor, and now I'm gonna learn how with my small printer! Mainly using this video. I definitely subscribed to your channel!
Exactly the kind of video I needed to see. Getting into 3d printing for a few reasons, but one of the larger reasons was printing the helmet/cowl and some other pieces for the main character of a super hero series I am working on. Had been wondering how I was going to print it if I didn't have a super large, super expensive printer. Nice to know I can easily break it up. Now the hard part of picking my first printer....
Bro I just want to say, seeing what you've accomplished, I'm excited to see how my journey will be, I ordered an Ender 3 pro with everything already upgraded, just got my filament today, can't wait to learn this new hobby and make my own 3D projects come to life.
Dude thank you found your channel like 2 weeks before getting my printer and just did my first cos play item for my gf so your guides and tips helped out alot
Just got a 3d printer a couple of weeks ago and was inspired by your videos to start working on an Ironman Mk 3 helmet on my Mega Zero 2. Couple of large pieces left to go that I was thinking about cutting up into smaller parts to avoid the 12 or so hour build times all at once. Going to have to get that Mesh mixer tonight and start cutting. IF I manage to not mess up too badly on the sanding and painting and such, next project will need to be some Halo helmet for my son. At least that one will be scaled a fair bit smaller so hopefully less work on the cutting to fit the printer. I have a feeling the house is going to be chock full of various helmets, armor, and accessories in the coming years. I think I'm going to need more printers lol
Thank you for making this video, I just bought a Ender 3 Pro. I also bought the Classic Ironman file from Do3D. I think I can now get the helmet on my Ender.
Awesome video! Quick tip though, on cura, use the mirror tool. On a symmetrical helmet like Samus, you only have to export 1 half, saving room on your computer, and if you have one piece positioned great, you can just duplicate and mirror it, so you don't have to try and copy the positioning.
You should make a glowing green lantern ring and lantern, also a working omnitrix. Nobody's done those for some reason and as far as I can tell they are very simple to do but awesome
Well a working omnitrix is, well, rather hard to make as I don’t think we have access to technology that changes a human into an alien at will then can transform them back.
Great video, easy to follow I understand the ways to weld / melt it all back together. But Are there any ways to reinforce or strengthen the print? Like maybe fiberglass, or some kind of spray / resin?
Thanks so much, thanks for the content and the tutorials. You are the creator that got me to buy my ender 3 pro and start learning it. I was just wondering how to weld two pieces (for an arcade coin door) and there is your video.. Thanks so much.
I use microsoft's 3D Builder to do exactly what is shown in the video, and i think it's much more user friendly AND it doesnt leave any remainig glitchy mashes!
I found this video with that exact same Samus helmet printing. I cut it up in Ms 3d builder. Worked great. Should have created registration pins or something.
I appreciate all of these videos, I'm trying to print armor with an ender 3 pro and, while it's been somewhat of a nightmare to troubleshoot sometimes, I feel like I can do it now!
Hi! I’m brand new to 3d printing and I’m debating which size printer to get (im between an ender or cr10) and I know that a lot of what I wanna print is larger pieces like helmets and armour stuff, so I’m wondering, if you could go back and redo it, would you still get a smaller printer or would you get a bigger one? I’m drawn to the ender because it seems like it’ll teach me a lot and the less space taken up the better but at the same time I’m worried the learning curve is too steep
@@lynn8313 learning curve is not bad at all, it’s quite simple. this 3D printer has taught me a lot about how printers work and how to maintain them and that’s important. above all, the important thing is practicing fusing stuff! if u put the time in sanding, fusing, etc, you’ll get much better products even with a small printer. you’re probably gonna have to fuse anyway even if you get a bigger printer
in some cases you may need t scale the parts down just a little bit. i wanted to print a metro cop helm from hall life 2 for cospaly but the paticular file i have has it too big. to remedy this i scaled everything down to 95% i then used epoxy and sanded and painted. i ,pstly wnted to get rid of the scarring and the cross sections. imdont care about the layer lines. i also had to print the stun baton in sections as well its just too long and again I epoxied it.

I'd love to see more on that gundam helmet and the potential cosplay to go with it if any. I've seen it in the background of a few videos and its got me excited on a potential build series for it.
Hey Frank. I was wondering if you had any advice for scaling helmets that are already sliced. I’ve seen videos about using head scans to scale the helmets before, but the files they use show a complete helmet instead of a sliced one.
Well that depends. If you open mesh mixer, sometimes they will snap into the right place, in which case you can combine the parts to find the best scale, then break them up. If there is a main piece of the helmet, you could scale that piece and then once you find that scale apply that to a smaller piece. For example the red hood helmet, which has the main helmet, then a back plate. Anyway, that's my 2 cents, hope it helped
My wife just bought me as a surprise anniversary gift the Mars 2 pro. Will this technique also apply to my setup? I'm a first-time 3D print person so I have no clue what I'm doing
I love your videos. I am also a fan that you're a fellow Veteran. Is there an alternate program for cutting up files? It looks like the mesh mixer website is no longer functioning. I guess I should add that we are trying to use the printer to print the Do3D blue beetle helmet but I don't want to buy a Neptune 3 pro if I can't make it work for the helmet.
I wonder if this method could be used to cut up Warframe tennogen models to make life sized suits similar to your Iron Man one. The only issue I've been running into when playing with the mesh of those models is they are mostly solid once you separate the shells for the head and torso. I want to make these into ball joint action figures but it would be way more awesome to do up a whole frame as a cosplay.
