and it goes on to be explained WHY he cant be immune in Endwalker, its nigh on the same energy type he and his people NEED to survive, really amazing lore building.
Thunder & Lightning are also the elements Omega canonically is weak to in the FF multiverse. It's both great world-building and a great nod to previous iterations of one of the series' most iconic & recurring superbosses.
As a long-time fan of FF5 who absolutely loves both Omega and Shinryu, you have no idea how I felt when seeing this scene. After 25 years, they finally get to fight one another, and it was amazing~
Just got to Stormblood the other day and when this scene got to about the three minute mark I said "Wait, are they gonna do a beam struggle?" Top 10 anime battles.
Love the martial acuity displayed by Shinryu in this scene. @ 2:08 when Omega dodges the beams Shinryu goes “what’s faster than lasers? Lightning” and it casts the lightning spell immediately thereafter. This scene is so awesome
@@ZZMonkeysUncleZZ it's less about the speed, it's more about reaction time needed to process the attack. Shinryu's laser attack is easily dodged since the attack line is parallel with the direction of its mouth. While lightning is randomly struck from the sky. Also laser attack is a narrow, straight line, while lightning attack is wider and curved.
Even though the Allagan Empire was extremely advanced where they locked up gods and use them as a battery, just imagine how scary powerful advanced the civilization that created Omega is/was....... It's incredible that a machine of all things can directly challenge the most powerful mythical dragon of Final Fantasy.
Frost Flare Omega has always been a super boss in past final fantasy and actually if you do some research in the game Omega came from a different star allagans just adopted him and help him evolve or so is hinted with the new raid so try again
fleeplayTV Allag reverse engineered a lot of stuff from Omega (Azys Ila being a fine example)... so if the Allag are THAT advanced thanks to what they were able to glean from it.... what more with Omega's original creators?
Yeah, many of the great allagan stuff were reverse enginereed from Omega. The Ultima Weapon might even be one of those products. In the recent recordings the Allagans said that they were very impressive with how Omega was so advance even for their standarts; however, somehow the Allagans were able to create technology capable of restraining Omega or put it in a dormant state. Meaning that reaching the end of their lifetime the Allagan had easily technology that could conquer the entire star system around hydealyn
FFXII has a series of bestiary journal entries that imply that Omega originated in FFXII's Ivalice as a self improving war machine designed to constantly redevelop itself to become stronger
when i got to this in my playthrough i instantly realised it was shinru, and flipped my sh**t about it, those two have been tracking each other through most the ff games. its basically the priates vs ninjas fight of the franchise XD
Funny thing is SE has yet to reveal their "Origins" and how their eternal fight between countless dimensions began. There are some speculation that this may actually be Omega and Shinryu's origins similar to how Type-0 was Gilgamesh's origins.
they did. the original omega was made to combat the dimension hopping shinryu but got trapped in the dimensional rift so it created smaller versions of its self to track and combat it
But not Omega's entire origins as the only information we have was why he was created. We never knew what world was Omega created and why was he programmed to fight Shinryu. This event could be the actual Origin of Omega and Shinryu's continuous battle in the Dimensional Rift with the events of Dimensional Rift Raid Storyline setting up and explaining how they became what they are through countless FF cameos. On side note: It would be a bit funny if the ending of Dimensional Rift storyline in 4.X is having the WoL trapping Shinryu in a chest within the Dimensional Rift then in a after event cutscene shows a certain group finding that box and opening it.
exactly that! I'd say it's time to settle things once and for all for those two. FF14 shall be the battleground. Nothing like an ancient rivality for the next expansión.
No doubt. They've been fightihng each other for eons in many worlds and eras and so let's not forget they're both pretty much interdimensional godlike beings, Time means nothing to them nor death. We could be witnessing either a time paradox or, although less likely, their final stand.
the part where Shinryu nails Omega with a lightning bolt... i think Omega did that on purpose, to bait Shinryu into coming closer to receive a painful missile counter attack, as well as a little wink to his only weakness in FF 5 :)
CGI is enormously time-consuming to make if we are to believe Yoshi-P from the Frankfurt Fanfest. The teaser trailer we first saw on the LA fanfest (Lyse and WoL fighting) apparently took a full year to make up to that point.
As much as I agree, the problem is that CG takes a lot of time. You've got to account for animation times, making all the models, getting the movements and effects to work just right, all of that good stuff. Then, unlike the cutscene we see here, CG stuff like the Bahamut 1.0 cinematic is all pre-rendered before they push it out. That means they basically have to hand it over to a computer which works for a loooooong time to get that rendered and working. Like several months to a year, possibly. This was the best way to do it given the scope of the scene in question and the time they had to make it. Which is not to diminish how awesome this scene is in general. Because it's awesome. Doubly so since they got all that done with in-game graphics.
This cutscene was amazing really, it made my day in so many ways... That being said, just a quick correction, this guy here is Omega, not Omega Weapon. There's a distinction between the two in FF, as weird as it sounds. Omega Weapon is just an upgrade to Ultima Weapon, Omega is this spider-ish robot thing.
False. The "spider-ish" robot has been called Omega Weapon in multiple appearances of the FF series. In FFXIV Nero and Cid both call it the Omega Weapon. The "upgraded Ultima" Omega Weapon is merely another look. As Omega & Omega Weapon are usually unique per FF game (unlike Gilgamesh, who is the same person in every appearance), for example FFVII's and FFX's Omega Weapon has no connection to any other version of Omega/Omega Weapon.
@Drop Pod Pizza Delivery Guy, no you're simply wrong. finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Omega_(enemy) FFXIV, FFXI, FFXII all have spider-robot version of Omega called Omega Weapon. XIV two main NPCs call it Omega Weapon, FFXI the harder fight (Proto-Omega in the story fight) is called Omega Weapon, FFXII's bestiary refers to Omega Mk XII as a Weapon (the source of all _____ Weapons). However, Omega and Shinryu have only been theorized by fans to be the same entities in each game, like Gilgamesh, Shantotto, and Lightning, but there is nothing canonically stating this. Most likely Shinryu and Omega call into the "Biggs, Wedge, Cid, & Highwind" category, where they simply share names.
You do realize the article you linked only specifically refers to it as Omega Weapon for Final Fantasy XI (I ctrl+F'd "Omega Weapon" on the page its only on there 2 times), otherwise simply Omega right? If you click the link for "See Also Omega Weapon" they are treated as entirely separate entities for the purposes of classification within the Final Fantasy universe. Telling people wrong and then using 'evidence' that directly contradicts what you are trying to say is kinda off...
Your link has it called Omega in every single of the articles except XI... which by the way, also links to it's own page where it's simply called Omega. Furthermore, your link distinguishes Omega from Omega Weapon by having a link to Omega Weapon's page right at the start with "see also: Omega Weapon". Meaning your own link is not even on your side there is it?
If I remember correctly, the heroes sent Omega to fight Shinryu but like with most ancient lost technology, they didn't fully understand Omega, the technology or the systems meant to control Omega. So sending it out to fight Shinryu is like sending a hurricane to fight a tornado.
This has some interesting implications. We know that these two are the same entities in every FF that they appear in. Thus we can assume Omega, much like Gilgamesh, found it's way to Eorzea same way or another at a past point in time. However, it is Shinryu that intrigues me, if all we know up to this point holds true, this should be the one and only Shinryu, and yet he was summoned in a way similar to every other primal so far. That would indicate that this Shinryu is just a version of Shinryu born from the plea of Ilberd, much like Good king Moogle Mog was born and shaped from the moogles' plea, and therefore be a less powerful ( and yet hype as all hell) of the real deal. But if this IS the one and only Shinryu well.. for starters we are fucked XD. It also means that no summoning happened here and instead interdimensional travel was accomplished without the use of crystals, meaning Minfillia could be brought back eventually, or we as players could eventually find ourselves travelling to other worlds, maybe Square might throw in a cameo or two... shit the possibilities are endless, and I fucking love it, no matter how cheesy it is.
another possibiltiy is that this is the birth of Shinryu, if am wrong correct me, but i dont think he's past creation is stated, which means that 14 is technically the first game chronologically speaking... that or after his defeat he gets pulled into the Rift along with Omega, or some time travel stuff happens, we now know that Omega was NOT made by the Alagan Empire, but rather found by them.
Not possible, in many games it has been heavily hinted at that Omega was created with the sole purpose of actually killing Shinryu, and since Omega was in Eorzea before this Shinryu appeared it is more likely that this Shinryu is either not the real deal or he was called from the interdimensional rift by the summoning process.
good points, i hope that they clear this up as the Omega raid goes on, my money is on a "false summoning" as in it was merely a shadow of Shinryu summoned from the interdimensional rift. they could do that and have the extreme one be the real deal but thats no how the mistrals Ballard stuff works sadly.
Having gone through Endwalker, it’s so fascinating how Omega is still with us and how they built such an intriguing character out of it plus it’s origins.
I wish these guys could take over the standard entries, since they basically brought real FF back but the FFXIV expansions have basically become the standard entries for me anyway so it is what it is.
This just happened like 5 minutes ago in my game and I had to find a video to share it with everybody because that was the slickest cutscene I had ever seen in the whole game. Also Shinryu is one of the things that got me into the game in the first place
But you know whats interesting? In FF5 there was a book after you meet Omega for the first time mentioning How Omega is a God destroyer and Shinryu is a multidimensional god And apparently both Omega and Shinryu never show their true form Soo i think Omega is a multidimensional machine with the order to find Shinryu and destroy it But in the end its just a infinite loop of both being destroyed by other life form
Guys just think of all those years these two have been searching for each other just to destroy each other, that's what makes this fight even more worth watching...oh and btw can someone tell me if omega and shinryu will be seen In other new ff games.
Omega originally wasn’t in FFXV but a DLC brought it into the game. Shrinyu hasn’t made an appearance yet but more DLCs are in development so I’m fairly sure we’ll see him
And of the 2 here, Shinryu is the first to fall to the Warrior of Light in Stormblood. So, I guess to answer Nero's earlier question, yes, they probably should have just send their champion in. Its been working wonders so far.
Actually, considering we can't do it to level 70 where we got massively stronger throughout the storyline and got armor far stronger, we would have been slaughtered here.
Primal Bahamut in afterlife: Wait you're supposed to be the dragon that's on a scale comparable to me? The one that replaces me? Bitch! I wrecked the landscape of the world within 2 minutes of breaking out of MY seal, and had to be defeated with a man being infused with the aether of all those praying to the 12 to survive my glorious fury. And I managed to enthrall said savior turned Primal offscreen while my body was crumbling away so even I don't know how I pulled that shit off!
I have no idea why it waited til now to tell me about this response but Omega captured and suppressed Bahamut when he was weaker and didn't have thousands of years of hate to fuel his power as well as the power of all those dragons kept around him. My problem with this is they couldn't have been talking about Shinyru being on a scale comparable to Bahamut before he broke out because none of them would have had any way to know how strong he was before then. The only strength feat they would have had to make that comparison to would have been his Calamity strength.
Zythrone Yoshida said in a recent interview that gilgamesh might reappear again in stormblood... but maybe he'll continue on being a hildibrand quest only character and have nothing to do with the raid
I would have loved to see the faces of the creators of Final Fantasy if they saw when they made the first one a battle between two of their most powerful characters in the entire series
He didn't. Omega won, and subdued Shinryu. It's explained in the Omega raid series that Omega didn't actually stalemate, it just needed a new powerful opponent to defeat after it beat Shinryu. To that end it retreated into the Dimensional Rift and started its experiments, away from prying eyes. It just became intrigued with the examples it saw of "weak" heroes defeating enemies significantly more powerful on paper, so it decided to make its presence known and lure the WoL and co. to it in an attempt to understand and assimilate this inexplicable phenomenon. Basically it beat Shinryu and was disappointed at how easy it was.
@@Darkwarp1994 You were asking how Zenos captured Shinryu, weren't you? I was saying he didn't: the cage of blue energy you see Shinryu trapped in was created by Omega.
As far as *stats* go the original FFV iterations are equal. But since defeating Omega is all but impossible without the Ragnarok sword that you get by defeating Shinryu it’s *implied* Omega’s superior. But they flip the dynamic with NeoShinryu vs Omega Mk. II in FFV Advance. Defeating NeoShinryu is all but impossible without the Force Shield that Omega Mk. II drops
I played the falcon punch theme (meaning of truth) over this, and then it hits me, it fits! Shinryu is basically doing the "UUWAAAAUGH!!!" face when they shoot them beams at each other with Omega staring him down, and then, bigass explosion.
So I played the final boss again in FF 5 PS1 on my mastered file, over 10 years ago. I beat the game and at the end of the game theirs a cut scene where it looks like bahamut is fighting omega, So I go on youtube to see that clip again and I type FF 5 omega vs bahamut.......Then I saw this video and IT BLEW ME AWAY! I cannot believe they made a cut scene like this against the 2 super bosses in FF 5.
so mortal emotions and hopes gave birth to the terrible wyrm. The doors of the Rift, once again, broken by mortal hands. He brings doom and truth, it´s destructor shall disturb the sea of chaos and darkness.
I am so hoping the raid is against both of them, at the same time. As they both continue to fight each other, and we have to put a stop to them cause of how devastatingly powerful they both are and neither seems to get the upper hand. Something like having to use that tank LB3 again, like with Alexander, when they collide with their beams just to survive that dbz explosion.
King Crash and as you kill one the other gains more power, so you can kill one and face a souped up version of the other intent on killing you, or take the challenge of bringing both down slowly, meaning you face more varied attacks more often, but they do a lot less damage
It wasn't for nothing, the realm would have been destroyed if it wasn't for his spell to hold Shinryu back just enough to give the WoL and Cid time to activate Omega. Only Omega could counter that dragon at that point.
To add this is just me, but does someone share with me the same oppion that someone who is unknown to allag may say that omega doesnt look like any tradicional allag weapon at all? I mean it like damm loaded with tons of decorations.
I'm still trying to figure out geographically where this shit happened, because if it happened over Castrum Oriens? Eorzea would have been flooded then turned to ash with enough effort to make the seventh umbral calamity look like a fucking firecracker.
This is all still taking place in the airspace of Baelsar's Wall, the border between the Black Shroud and Gyr Abania. It's from the Peaks you get a good look at how massive that wall really is Also, if you look around at the mountain range of the Peaks, you can see a massive hole in one of them and trace it towards what would become the Yawn
I think Omega and shinryu need to cap their accuracy.

In before accuracy gets removed for Stormblood.
To be fair, they both have some awesome Evasion stats and Shinryu parries like a boss

Omega: Mother, after many eons, I have fulfilled our mission, Fight the Dragon God.
Final Fantasy's Kyogre and Groudon. xD Wished for this scene for years!
Guys just think of all those years these two have been searching for each other just to destroy each other, that's what makes this fight even more worth watching...oh and btw can someone tell me if omega and shinryu will be seen In other new ff games.
nigel simmons they've been staples in the franchise a long time, I would count on it
Omega originally wasn’t in FFXV but a DLC brought it into the game. Shrinyu hasn’t made an appearance yet but more DLCs are in development so I’m fairly sure we’ll see him
2.5 has been the most DBZ like patch in Heavensward. First Dun Scaith against Diabolos and now Omega vs. Shinryu. Best patch ever in my opinion :D
Rynn21 ooops sorry! ^^'
Been playing Kingdom Hearts 1.5 + 2.5 that I got the names mixed lol
Felt like Pokemon 2000 for a second there...
And here I'm like...
"The one who summoned that is more of a summoner than I am Q_Q"
Sloppy!
shlawpee!
but but... Bahamut?!
And so the legend of omega's pursuit of shinryu is retold.
Coolest cutscene in any mmo I've ever played
unstoppable force vs immovable object
I hope this or part of the cutscene ends up shown in CG as part of the Stormblood opening, going to be epic!
As soon as I saw those wings....got PTSD vibes from my memories of ffv
First turn Shinryu yeets you with Tidal Wave
Or Neo Shinryu yeets you with Ice Storm
This cutscene was amazing!!!! Thanks for putting it up
0:41 it was at this moment that All of eorzea knew... They f**cked up.
And of the 2 here, Shinryu is the first to fall to the Warrior of Light in Stormblood.
So, I guess to answer Nero's earlier question, yes, they probably should have just send their champion in. Its been working wonders so far.
Actually, considering we can't do it to level 70 where we got massively stronger throughout the storyline and got armor far stronger, we would have been slaughtered here.
yeah...forget classes we need Gundam's, Spirit bombs and God himself if we have a ghost of a chance if we face them at the same time
We got Gundams now. Happy?
Send this video to someone unfamiliar with Final Fantasy and then tell them it's from an MMORPG. I doubt most people will believe it.
When I saw this, my head exploded and imploded at the same time. And realizing I'll have to fight maybe both ... it is like too much ...
Christian Acevedo You do get to fight ONE of tgem in the new MSQ. not spoiling what it is though ;)
Frost Flare well you already kinda did genius just don't say anything else
at last, i can get my revenge on these two after getting my ass kicked in the FF1 Dawn of Souls version.
Bahamut was captured and suppressed by Omega. For Shinryu to end the fight with a draw shows he is stronger.
Really puts into perspective how powerful the warrior of light is.
i got ffv flashbacks when omega used Wave Cannon
Especially delta attack
This should have been CG tbh. Even Coil, a raid a lot of people will never do, got a CG cutscene for phoenix.
I WATCHED THIS FOR THE FIRST TIME YESTERDAY AND I *BUST* A *FUCKING NUT*
every time i rewatch this, i can't believe its only 4 minutes long, feels like so much happens
it blew me away when it happened ingame. so epic.
Even in the final fantasy universe the best weapon to fight a kaiju is a giant mecha.
Omg I never realized that
XD
Of COURSE Shinryu opens with Tidal Wave.
Holy SHIT!!! And we gotta fight THOSE things eventually?!
Now all we need is for Gilgamesh to show up with all the weapons from FF series and I'll be happy.
already done
Gilgamesh is already in the game. With two separate trials.
Chronoic where the hell you been? Gilgamesh been here and done whatever he wanted already lmao
Looking back on this i have to ask how in the blue blazes did zenos manage to capture shinryu ?
@@justinlee790 huh you replying to the right comment ? what i asked happened after this fight
@@Darkwarp1994 You were asking how Zenos captured Shinryu, weren't you? I was saying he didn't: the cage of blue energy you see Shinryu trapped in was created by Omega.
I kinda wonder how Omega would fare against Bahamut.
Omega is kinda cute... >.> cant wait for his minion
In about a year from now.
Xx Xx his minion is mecha head from ff5
hot damn, had to come rewatch it.
doesnt look like shinryu wants to fight he just wants to leave but omega wont let him. so he is just defending himself
wol after watching this happen: I'm gonna have to fight both of these guys later aren't I?
Dragon vs robot. 👾vs🐲
the new Pokemon Trailer kinda 🔥
calling it. you will fight both in stormblood
the raid itself could "revolve" around them still fighting or getting ready to fight :P
I still wish I could find the theme to this scene. It's so calm for something so destructive.
Scale and Steel - Shinryu's phase 1 theme. Its just remixed slightly. Beginning of this is halfway into the theme in the fight.
@@BakedWeeb For a slight remix it feels like such a dramatic change of tone. Thanks!
@@BakedWeeb Do you have this specific version without the sound effects?
As far as *stats* go the original FFV iterations are equal. But since defeating Omega is all but impossible without the Ragnarok sword that you get by defeating Shinryu it’s *implied* Omega’s superior. But they flip the dynamic with NeoShinryu vs Omega Mk. II in FFV Advance. Defeating NeoShinryu is all but impossible without the Force Shield that Omega Mk. II drops
Bug Gang!
So..... Who is ready to die to these gods?
Lol and my man Bartz fought them both.....DAAAAMMMN
WOL fought them both too
I played the falcon punch theme (meaning of truth) over this, and then it hits me, it fits!
So far, FFXIV is the only game I've played where you get to see a metal gear fight a dragon.
i mean Omega and Shinryu are both from Final Fantasy 5, you don't see them fight but they were already rival it says.
When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object.
Omega reminds me of the magus sisters from ffx. Especially that final attack
xsirenflyx delta attack*
so mortal emotions and hopes gave birth to the terrible wyrm. The doors of the Rift, once again, broken by mortal hands. He brings doom and truth, it´s destructor shall disturb the sea of chaos and darkness.
As someone who has played and finished final fantasy 5 I cannot stress how accurate their attack patterns are
I am so hoping the raid is against both of them, at the same time. As they both continue to fight each other, and we have to put a stop to them cause of how devastatingly powerful they both are and neither seems to get the upper hand. Something like having to use that tank LB3 again, like with Alexander, when they collide with their beams just to survive that dbz explosion.
King Crash it'd be cool if you had an option to fight and destroy one and and depending on that decision you get to fight a suped up omega or shinryu
King Crash and as you kill one the other gains more power, so you can kill one and face a souped up version of the other intent on killing you, or take the challenge of bringing both down slowly, meaning you face more varied attacks more often, but they do a lot less damage
Thanks for posting this, I somehow did not see this the fist time.
5 years later and I still remember how hyped I was for Stormblood's launch. I also remember how hard SE botched that launch!
sucks papalymo sacrificed himself effectively for nothing D:
It wasn't for nothing, the realm would have been destroyed if it wasn't for his spell to hold Shinryu back just enough to give the WoL and Cid time to activate Omega. Only Omega could counter that dragon at that point.
Wtf spoilers man
@Hydra Yeah but we had to fight them 1 by 1 and with our "7 friends"
I love that both of these bosses got love in sb too. Shinryu as the final boss and omega as probably the hardest raid boss xD
do I notice an small remix of azys la theme?
Yes, there's a few themes in there that are reused.
To add this is just me, but does someone share with me the same oppion that someone who is unknown to allag may say that omega doesnt look like any tradicional allag weapon at all?
I mean it like damm loaded with tons of decorations.
The whole theme is a remix of Azys Lla with some variations
Fredy 20 omega is the New Black Gjallarhorn
I was thinking that Samus lost her gunship to the wrong franchise at some point...
Better than Death Battle
I'm still trying to figure out geographically where this shit happened, because if it happened over Castrum Oriens? Eorzea would have been flooded then turned to ash with enough effort to make the seventh umbral calamity look like a fucking firecracker.
This is all still taking place in the airspace of Baelsar's Wall, the border between the Black Shroud and Gyr Abania. It's from the Peaks you get a good look at how massive that wall really is
Also, if you look around at the mountain range of the Peaks, you can see a massive hole in one of them and trace it towards what would become the Yawn
I was so happy to see this music in SB's shinryu fight
