  • Sharing my thought on the Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant and whether it is deserving of the hype its getting. How to use salicylic acid in your skincare routine.
Hey guys and welcome back to Mad About Skin where todays video is a Paula's Choice 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant review, with me sharing my thoughts on what has to be one of the most talked about and hyped products in skincare.
The Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant is a cult salicylic acid toner which is claimed to help tackle hyperpigmentation, smooth the skin, reduce breakouts and minimise acne scarring. Packed full of salicylic acid, green tea antioxidants and hydrators, this product is often called the best exfoliator for dry or sensitive skin, but is this really the case.
In this video I break down and review the Paula's Choice BHA Liquid to help you work out whether its right for your skin type, budget and skincare routine. I will also be sharing my Paula's Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid Exfoliant before and after experience on my own skin.
I would love to know what your thoughts are on the paulas choice BHA and what results you got when you used it in your skin care routine so please leave me a comment below.

Hey guys and welcome to todays video where we are talking the PC BHA Liquid Exfoliator and everything you need to know about the product.. I would love to know your thoughts and feelings so please let me know in the comments section below.. Love you all so much xxxxxx

I think people just confused the PC BHA liquid exfoliator with the PC RESIST Daily Pore-Refining Treatment With 2% BHA. They're both similar but the RESIST one has more antioxidant as the RESIST range is targeting slightly mature skin.

I don't really like to exaggerate about skincare products but this product omg!....
I was in a dark place before discovering this product, it really helped my skin being extremely dry ance prone by gently exfoliating without any signs of dryness, I hope Unilever won't mess up this holygrail because I can't live without it at this stage lol😅

Thanks Rob! That’s great the formula wasn’t changed. I used PC bha for years in my 30s & highly recommend. I grew (older drier, no more pimple issues happily) out of it! Too bad prices sky rocketed so much, the reason I don’t even consider her anymore.

I first discovered this back in the late 1990s, when Paula's Choice was known as Cosmetics Cop, and they had a paper catalog. At that time, Paula was the only company that used BHA for skin care, and almost the only company that talked about chemical exfoliation or anti-oxidants.
If the current pH is 5.5, it's been reformulated since then. It was also $15 a bottle, and you could get liquid, gel or lotion versions.
As I don't have oily acne prone skin, I rarely used this, except it worked nicely on my KP. But when I ran low, PC came out with better products for me. And since they were first purchased, I've moved away from the brand completely.

Phew! After 20 years of battling acne on my chin PC BHA has done what no other product (inc prescription Differin and Duac [antibiotics & benzoyl peroxide]) has done. I rarely now have any spots on my chin.
It’s been a life changer for me.
NB I use it twice a day without problem. About twice a week I use Differin on top of the PC BHA

Hi Rob this one is actually too strong for my skin and I use the more gel textured calm 1% BHA from PC. It's like a serum and I can apply it only in targeted areas (liquids are much harder to control). I have very dry, super sensitive, rosacea and eczema prone skin - so for me once a week is usually enough to keep the pores clear. I use prescription azelaic acid and a retinaldehyde during the week on alternate nights, so this is just a once a week booster for me. The 30ml travel size at about £10 has lasted me well over 6 months, so it is affordable if you consider it as a serum. Before I went onto prescription azelaic acid I used it twice a week - it kept my pores clear despite all the oils and heavy moisturisers I use as I'm so dry. Best wishes.

  • @swineinny1
    @swineinny1 2 ปีที่แล้ว +7

I’d suggest to use it on certain parts of face, where it can be very effective. Where I have mild Rosacea (on cheeks, near nose), I found it very irritating! On dry areas, on sides of my face & around eyes, I found it very drying. But to use on nose for blackheads? It’s OK & had some effect. Also, I’ve found it very effective to use in a targeted way to treat acne. Would I rub it all over my face every day? Eek, no way!!!! I use it very rarely now, using Lactic instead.

Because I have super oily acne prone skin. I prefer to use Paula's Choice Resist Anti-Aging 2% BHA Exfoliant. Or like it actually says in the UK on the front of the bottle: Daily Pore-Refining Treatment 2% BHA. It's... 100% Not Oily! It's just like putting water on your face. And works like a dream at killing acne.

Sure there hasn‘t been a reformulation? On my old bottle it says : Water, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Grean Tea Leaf extract, Sodium Hydroxide, Tetrasodium EDTA [r017/il20v1]
The new one says : Water, Methylpropanediol, Butylene Glycol, Salicylic Acid, Polysorbate 20, Grean Tea Leaf extract, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol. [eu2/il20v2]
The old had 8 ingredients, the new one has 9 ingredients. And the 9th one is Phenoxyethanol…
Edit : The old one was bought in the PC online shop. The new one was bought directly here in Luxembourg.

I have very oily, dehydrated and sensitive skin. I have tried for a year and throughout four seasons to get on with it. Every use results in bright red skin and breakouts. I guess I kept trying because everyone keeps praising this. Actually, I find TIL salicylic acid wash gives me better results without the irritation.

I watch a lot of beauty videos, and I have heard nothing but great reviews on this product. Although it is out of my price range. I use the Good Molecules Overnight Exfoliating Treatment to take advantage of an acid blend, and have had great results from it. I only need to use this product 3 times a week or so, depending on how my skin is doing!

I have dry and resilient skin. My pores get clogged up sometimes so I Iike to periodically use a BHA toner. I found that this was not a potent enough toner for me. I also found this to be too greasy. Because I have dry skin, I have a dry-skin routine already set. I expect my exfoliant toners to be light so I can keep the other steps in the routine like a moisturizing serum and cream. Paula’s BHA is hard to fit into my preexisting dry skin routine. My pores ended up clogging up more and it was hard to adjust my entire routine only when I wanted to use this product. Ended up throwing it out the other day after trying it out for half a year.

Maybe it is just me, but this product feels very oily on my skin (even when I use only a few drops) and it is a little to strong as well... I am oily and acne prone, but I prefer products with a lower concentration of salicylic acid like the one by selfless by Hyram which is my personal holy grail product. But as Rob was saying -I agree that everybody should try and match their exfoliants specifically for their own individual skin and wallet. Thankfully in todays skincare world there is a match for everyone. ;-)
