wow. I love this channel. I've got roughly 25 more years in the workforce, and then this is what I want to do in retirement.

Why wait for when your joints and bones are sore, divvy up some time every week, keep organised, keep well educated and have fun while your fit. Best of luck sharkman.

Beauuuutiful! Love the polish work on the exhaust ports. Pretty impressive work, especially considering the shit condition those heads were in. Thanks for sharing your wisdom!

Found your mini-lathe series some time back, which is superb. Then fell into a binge watching tail spin of your channel!

Another great episode as always. I would love to get my heads done, problem is now after seeing how meticulous you are, I wouldn't want anyone else but you doing the work but I'm in Canada and you're in Australia!!!🤣🤣🤣 Cheers mate

    Looking pretty good 👍
Definitely replace those guides and only recut seats once the guides are replaced.
Port wall texture on the intakes is still important even on EFI engines, the intake resonance pulses move fuel up and down the intake tract while the valve is closed, I personally use a burr finish on intake ports, there is a video of it on my page.
The most important factor of cylinder head porting is sizing the ports to suit the engines cfm demand at your chosen peak rpm point, if you want I can calculate the minimum cross sectional areas for you to check on your port work 👍 happy to help out a fellow Aussie 🍻

Thanks for the comment Mate, Sux dealing with other peoples mess hey. Believe it or not one of the previous owners paid for that work. I hear you on the Burr finish in the intakes. I'm generally just a clean up the bowls & short turns kinda guy, but for obvious reasons had to go further on these. Yep, definitely will be doing the guides first, they are a hot mess, cant believe they didn't replace them when the work was done, actually I can. Cheers Mate.

@@TheAussieShed there are some hacks out there mate, whoever did the original job had never used a die grinder before, as you pointed out that work was horrid and certainly shouldn’t have charged someone for it 😳

Ecellent work on the heads Trevor. It is a wonder that this engine was running and making any power at all. It sucks because as a customer, you would never know that so much poor work was done. You would just be trusting a shop to do a good job but yet, it is all crap.

Agree totally Mate, to much of this kind of thing goes on. Cheers.

With that beautiful job of polishing the heads, have you given any thought to extrude honing the upper and lower intake manifolds? Anybody in Australia do extrude honing? What about port matching lower manifold to heads and upper manifold? Almost need some way to location pin the lower to the upper to keep them aligned. Not trying to push you into unnecessary expenses but you do seem to be a perfectionist.
