Amazing control, expression, perfect pitch and intonation. This young man has a glorious voice. Absolutely. I only read a few comments. But not one mentioned the accompanist. Sad, that, because he is totally brilliant. My mother told me when one accompanies a singer, one must capture the mood, support but N E V E R override the singer. The pianist is totally brilliant. Emmet's voice is brilliant and he deserves every compliment but the forgotten accompanist brings it up into the 'glorious' experience. Thank you, sir. I am sorry your name isn't listed. It should be.
Perfect pitch for sure...I have it and couldn't discern a single note out of tune. It's glorious when singer's have perfect pitch... This song was my mums favourite. Currently sitting holding my fathers hand as he is slowly passing away with pneumonia. Got this playing on loop, crying my eyes out and I’m 66 years old.
Mr. Cahill I have never been so moved. I've grown up hearing people sing this for 50 years ,honestly I can't explain well enough about how your vocals evoke emotion. You sir are among Irelands national treasures. Thank you so very much it is a privilege to hear this song with you singing. BTW don't let my last name fool you my birth name is lynch. Changed out of respect for my Da who adopted me. When I fly in to Dublin I stay at Jurys maybe I see ya if your in Dublin.
I've heard this song many times by many different artists, and have come to believe only an Irishman or woman can give this song the reverence and solemnness it deserves.
This song always makes me cry, but this is truly sung by the best version I’ve heard by a lovely and cute young man. Thank you sir. It was absolutely beautiful.
An incredibly powerful, thoughtful, emotional and perfectly nuanced performance. Your natural musicianship is breathtaking and your voice simply stunning. You are a pure gift and thank god you can share your immense talent with us. As a classical pianist, you would be a delight to accompany. You have me shivers and I can count on both hands how many performances have done that. Bravo!!!
Emmet sings as only an Irishman can, with a pure heart and love of this beautiful song. My dear Mother had a wonderful voice and would often sing this while working on her 'Singer' sewing machine. I also remember the tears in her eyes and mine, when she sang. Every success to you Emmet and God Bless You.

What a stunningly beautiful rendition of Danny Boy. This song was played at both of my parents funeral masses. At my Mom’s funeral (Mom was born in NY but raised in Ireland since infancy) my older brother played this song very softly on his guitar during communion. It was so beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. Mom must have been smiling down from Heaven listening to her youngest son playing this lovely tune for her.
Absolutely incredible. My uncle passed away yesterday and him and my other family used to sing this and loads of others at the end of family parties. As kids we'd have been little tearaways but when they sang we stopped and listened in awe. I've searched loads of versions to try and remind me of them and this is the one. Not Frank Patterson, not Jim Reeves , not Johnny Cash, all great in their own right but none captured what the song means to me personally. This did. Thank you for that.
This was so moving. Beautifully sung with warmth and sadness. It would have been good if the audience could let the last note hang in the air and dissipate. The accompanist played wonderfully too.

I had always felt a tug towards Ireland in my heart. It was just a few years ago that we learned that my mother's paternal grandfather and great grandparents had immigrated from Ireland to the USA in the latter part of the 1800s. I've always loved this song.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song! I was born in an Irish Catholic area of New York and have been listening to this beautiful tune all my life! St. Patty’s Day is synonymous with Danny Boy!
The pipes are calling.... here The Netherlands are calling. - We must have heard hundreds of singers over the years singing Danny Boy. It needs certainly courage to sing it after so many big names(tenors(from John McCormack to USA-based Irishman Robert White) , baritons, sopranos(Norma Burrowes ánd e.g. folksinger Mary O'Hara) , mezzo's, contraltos(Bernadette Greevy) , counter tenors and treble singers(Belfasts Billy Neely). Many singers nowadays give it a "pop-touch" or too much an Irish folktouch (like at 0.21 min - only once(!) - ca-ha-ha-ha-ling, the almost unavoidable "decoration"), but to our great joy ("our" means a group of classical singers) we noticed that young Emmet Cahill (here 27 or 28 years) does it the classical way. Brilliant!. It's far more difficult to sing from one note straight to another and don't loose yourself in too much in between fringe. Here he shows that he is able to do it the way the big names sang it decades or half a century ago. Like e.g. James Johnston (Belfast tenor from long ago) or the late Kenneth McKellar (Scottish tenor, both active in Scottish and Irish repertoire). Emmet even dares to show his feelings, which results in coming very close to the hearts of the listeners. Not macho at all, but very vulnarable. Bravo! He is young and engaging and respects the old melody and reproduces it in a way, that you keep on coming back to this performence. Very well done Emmet, keep it this way, don't change this performance of Danny Boy. - **** p.s.We wonder if you are somehow related to 2 very big Cahill-names in Irish music. First Patricia Cahill (1945, very famous singer(soprano)in the seventies/eighties, one of her many LP's is called Danny Boy) and secondly the famous soprano Teresa Cahill(1944), who made a big international career. She lives in the UK now and Patricia in Spain. Related to any of them Emmet? And now that we discovered you , we start immediately to surf on youtube to find out what we missed in previous years. But this first acquaintance on youtube (may 2021, better late than never!) was already the find of the year and we came on your platform because of that famous name Cahill in Irish music. Good luck, good health and thanks for the joy you bring to many; us included . Love and admiration from overseas!

Thankyou, John, the warm image you paint of your Grandfather Seamus, almost stereotypical, touches a member of the diaspora on the other side of the World. I wonder whether he went to the Perth Firefighters Games in 1994 ? The Canny branch of my family met with the New York Cannys, there.
We map to follow in his footsteps and I have been working hard on yourself
I don't think I have ever heard that song sung with such emotion, my grandad passed away some years ago now, but it was a song he would listen to he was from Ireland and it was played at his funeral, I feel the pain of losing him everytime I hear this song, but at the same time when I hear this song I know he rests in peace in heaven and I will see him again one day, thankyou, so beautifully, and sincerely sung 🙏🕊️🙏
I agree!
Perfect! Thank you. Reminded me of my daughter and her family who live in Dublin.
Yep,you got me. Beautiful.
A beautiful, powerful and pure tenor that conveys all nuances of emotion.
This song was my mums favourite. Currently sitting holding my fathers hand as he is slowly passing away with pneumonia. Got this playing on loop, crying my eyes out and I’m 66 years old.
Sorry
I don’t understand how performers can get through this song with out choking up. I can sing along for the first half then lose it.
I know. It's such a tragic song. I always find myself crying whenever I sing it.
Absolutely. Maybe they sing it so often they sing the heart out of it.
Great music makes me emotional too.
@@joshuadeford6637 I am 73 and just fall to pieces every time I hear one of these great singers do my song.
Absolutely beautiful 🍀🦋I’m Irish forever now
I've heard this song many times by many different artists, and have come to believe only an Irishman or woman can give this song the reverence and solemnness it deserves.
There’s something to that for sure. The lovely accent certainly adds a dignity that may not be duplicated.
Yet strangely, the lyrics were by an Englishman. Hands across the sea. Happy St Patrick’s Day everyone!
Sure is.
Agree completely.
Listen to me sing this song a Welshman
I never knew this Danny Boy song was so beautiful 😢!
This song always makes me cry, but this is truly sung by the best version I’ve heard by a lovely and cute young man. Thank you sir. It was absolutely beautiful.
There are no words. Makes me proud to be Irish.
Exactly.Same. ☘
Oh yeah.
🏆💪
Cannot stop crying, just beautiful and touches the heart or rather breaks the heart.
Excellent. Love it xx
Bravo!!!
Best I've heard .as a Welshman we appreciate good singers.that wasbeautiful
He sings a story and it's perfect.
Absolutely gorgeous rendition of one of the most beautiful songs ever written. It takes your breath away.
What a beautiful voice, and here I always thought Sinatra was the only person worth listening to ! It doesn't get much better than this!
My County Cork heritage claims this is the best version ever!
Bravo. Total dedication is what is needed to acquire such talent and that's exactly what was demonstrated.
Bello , canto dolce e tenerissimo!
Control. And kudos to the pianist - super attentive and skilled.
voice of an angel and the face of one too
Emmet that made me cry very hard and made me think of my Dad! Thank you!
A truly God given talent! You make the angels weep.❤️ Thanks to my 23 and me results, I'm 99% Irish and plan to make a dream come true and visit your amazing Country. County Donegal is where most of my relative originated.
God Bless Cathi Byers.. Maryland USA
As a Tenor, I must say that his voice and falsetto is 100x better than mine.
I don’t think he used a falsetto.
Beautiful to listen to lo ley
@@eileenadams1464 I think he meant vibrato.
Yes, He sings with his core voice. No falsetto. Great performance!
Must be one of the best renditions of this song ever... His voice is golden! Praise God for such a beautiful voice 🥰✝
One of my fav songs since childhood. This gives me so much nostalgia 🥰
My Dad was named Daniel and this was one of his favourite songs🙏
Absolutely incredible.
My uncle passed away yesterday and him and my other family used to sing this and loads of others at the end of family parties.
As kids we'd have been little tearaways but when they sang we stopped and listened in awe.
I've searched loads of versions to try and remind me of them and this is the one. Not Frank Patterson, not Jim Reeves , not Johnny Cash, all great in their own right but none captured what the song means to me personally.
This did.
Thank you for that.
Richard Lunt this one is truly great I also recommend Michael Londra’s
The best rendition I've ever heard. Clear crystal voice. Best wishes from India !
Greetings to you in your magical land, from Australia. I hope I can visit again
This was so moving. Beautifully sung with warmth and sadness. It would have been good if the audience could let the last note hang in the air and dissipate. The accompanist played wonderfully too.
Tears ? No I was sobbing like if someone had killed somebody I loved dearly, this must be reincarnation I’m of Spanish decent southern Spain the other side is northern Italian , the first time I heard bagpipes I almost fainted 🍀💤💚💚💚I must visit Ireland hopefully I won’t faint
I heard this angelic voice at Avenel Performance Arts Center in Woodbridge NJ and Emmit brought sweet tears to my eyes. Bless your voice for many years to come❤.
When the piano begun for two seconds I knew the song was going to be good
Beautiful and moving - all of the Irish soul was captured in this performance. Come ye back . . .
pulls at my heart
My dad's favorite song. We played it as his funeral. This is beautiful.
Hermosa canción irlandesa
Abrazo desde Buenos Aires.💕💚💙💛
@@rosaricardini9055 muchas gracias amiga. ❤
My mum's favourite, played at her funeral 2017.
So beautifully delivered as a fine lyrical tenor and totally perfect sound and delivery
This is the first time I've cried listening to a song in twenty years. I'm completely stunned.
The best rendition I've ever heard.
This song gets me every time...tear evoking.
I didn’t know him at all until I encountered this video. He might have kind and gentle soul along with beautiful voice.
It's so clearly obvious you feel every word your singing. Beautiful perfectly perfect performance. Thank you.
Mr. Cahill, Thank you for talking time out of what must be a busy schedule to acknowledge my as well as others comments it is very thoughtful. Just a thought I'd like to share. The way you carry yourself and of course the way in which you generously share your talent with the world represents one of the most prescious gifts that humanity depends on as to remind ourselves and more importantly to guide our future generations as they look back at their ancestral accomplishments. You still have so much to offer and you've already done the greatest thing a person can aspire to do and that is to leave your mark on the world a mark that shows you contributed to the betterment of humanity therefore making the world a better place to live in. Good luck and Godspeed in all that you and yours desire Peace Always-cv
Awww! This beautiful voice has me in tears!Songs were made for a voice such as this.Makes me wish I was sitting on that green and pleasent land looking across the sea whilst listening to this tune and I'll take you home again Kathleen.😍😍😍🙏❤🍀
Who’s still here now its 2021? Let’s appreciate his amazing voice and this loving song ❤️
I really wanted to remember why this song always brings the tears. And its one of mysteries of life. Its just an Irish folk song that will always grab your heart and soul
Absolutely beautiful voice. My dad’s favorite song it has taken me along time to listen to this song since he past away it always makes me tear up.
george barnes. Love this song. Thank God for giving us this song. Respect for someone who died. God bless
Hello how are you doing?
A truly beautiful rendition. I brought tears to my eyes.
How are you doing today?
Something about an Irish voice just melts my heart
This is a performance of rare beauty. The piano playing is almost as important as the singing and should also receive credit.
Beautiful piano❤
❤ immer wieder❤ Danke dir.
I have a one hour commute to the hospital I practice at....no, not music practice but anesthesia 😷💉...that was my alternative to a career in music. My commute is music, music, music, NOW it is Emmet, Emmet, Emmet🎤🎼🎶🎹...You take me to another realm and my patients thank you for it!❤
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying,
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,-
Oh, Danny boy, O Danny boy, I love you so!
And when you come, and all the flowers are dying,
And I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Avè there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
And you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I will sleep in peace until you come to me!
I had always felt a tug towards Ireland in my heart. It was just a few years ago that we learned that my mother's paternal grandfather and great grandparents had immigrated from Ireland to the USA in the latter part of the 1800s. I've always loved this song.
You are a national treasure of Ireland all over the world people are very delighted to watch your superb performance.
Just so lovely..! Beautifully sung..! Love this song..! Talented young man..! God bless him..!
The most beautiful version of danny boy I have ever heard...🥺
Thank you so much, Emmet.
So it is one day short of November 22. A day that turned America dark and cloudy in Dallas in 1963. And it's you Danny boy that we all cry out to.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful song! I was born in an Irish Catholic area of New York and have been listening to this beautiful tune all my life! St. Patty’s Day is synonymous with Danny Boy!
Same here. I lived in a parish that was 90 percent Irish. Danny Boy was my favorite.
Stunning. I've been a voice teacher for nearly 20 years- this is one of my favorite songs to work on in studio. Beautifully sung.
Sublime performance by vocalist Emmet Cahill and pianist, utterly perfect technically, and dramatically emotionally interpretively.
