This is the best version of Danny Boy that I've heard in 71 years, these 4 beautiful and talented young ladies are the best in my mind.My youngest brother whose name was Danny and we called him Danny Boy passed with cancer 2 years ago,he was 6ft 4inch and was just over 400 lbs.He was a gentle giant. I miss him terribly and play this song by these 4 young ladies every chance I get.Thankyou ladies so very much. RIP DANNY BOY, I LOVE YOU ALWAYS.
We just buried my baby brother,he had turned 57 a few days before his passing from cancer.I listened to his song over and over my favorite is by Celtic Women and I thankyou for it.I love all your music and I think you girls are the best.Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.❤❤❤❤❤🎶👍
I am a new fan of the Celtic woman ( yes I came here because of Tiktok) but now I love this band . I am from a Irish English Lithuanian background and couldn’t be any more proud I always been fond of the Irish folk song . I know this song of Danny boy and this is the best cover of it.
Other than the marvelous Mairead Nesbitt on the violin, this is the finest acapella sound I think I have ever heard. If there is such a thing as perfection, you have just heard it.
Of all the versions of this song, including other Celtic Woman lineups, this has got to be the most harmonious, angelic and beautiful that I've ever heard. Even though I've listened to it countless times, it's perfect, and always brings a tear to my eye. Lisa, Chloe, Susan and Mairead, I will go to meet my maker to this, and will still be hearing it as I go into the light. You are all Earth Angels.♥️
We have all heard this song countless times. Each time the artist singing it gives a very good interpretion, but the song is familiar and one may say enough. Cetic Woman however brings this song to life as if it is the first time hearing it. Amazing version.
English is not my native tongue, I'm spanish, but this was so touching that it sounded as if it was my own mother who was singing to me as I was laying in my bed. Long live the celtic heritage, for it is something you carry in your heart, not only in your veins.
My mother is Irish whilst my dad Greek.... lived in Greece all my life but visited Ireland for my summer holidays!!! If one asks ...i feel so Irish as i get older! 💚💚💚
Last year my heart stopped twice, this song kept going in my heart, I had fully experienced the deep emotions of this wonderful song, the feeling of Christians of all ages were crying for the return of Christ.
God Almighty has blessed these wonderful people and they in return have blessed us with their awesome songs. Amen Amen and Amen with peace and love for all. Spread love not hate. RAG 23
As much as I miss the original members, this group now is fantastic. They all exude a youthful energy in their performance and their voices are a beautiful blend. I love it soo much
My grandparents on my father's side were born in Ireland but migrated to the US during the potato famine. We played it and The Parting Glass at his funeral I still cry uncontrollably when I hear it. But I have to listen to it each January on the date of his passing.
I’m 60 now but My mom would sing this to us on nights when we couldn’t sleep She’s been gone 20 years but I ca n still remember how sweet her voice sounded
This Celtic woman trio is a perfect combination. The blending of their voices is like a perfectly tuned piano. I don't know how many times I listened to their song Danny Boy.
This was my father and grandfathers favorite song. It was played at both funerals. I've never heard a better version the Celtic Women. They to are on my bucket list, I've seen them on PBS specials and pledged to get their DVD and CD. My dad was a sponsor to public television.
"Danny Boy" Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling From glen to glen, and down the mountain side The summer's gone, and all the roses falling It's you, it's you must go and I must bide. But come ye back when summer's in the meadow Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so. But when ye come, and all the flow'rs are dying If I am dead, as dead I well may be You'll come and find the place where I am lying And kneel and say an ave there for me. And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be For you will bend and tell me that you love me And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me.
Danny Boy is an achingly beautiful, yet heart-rendering old song. The lyrics are so sad I always want to weep while I sing. The sweet soprano voices of the Celtic Woman ladies are perfect for this song.

I sang this song with my high school choir during my senior year. It was such an emotional song for me then, and it still is now. I love hearing Celtic Women's rendition of it! Their voices are so beautiful and harmonious, I could listen to them all day!!
When hearing this song it reminds of my grandpa. My grandpa always told me the story when he heard Danny Boy from a bear-atoner, a person sings so low the floor will rumble. Grandpa died 6 years ago and every time I hear this song I cry. I miss him so much he was the father figure in my life. But I know he is always in my heart, memories, and spirit. I will still cry when hear Danny Boy.
This song was sung at my dad's funeral, I break down every time I hear it. It was his favorite, and he would have loved hearing these beautiful ladies sing it!
So heartwarming I nearly started to cry it's like I can hear angels calling me very emotional song just enough to make a full blown on man cry anyone got a box of tissues
Love this simpler, harmonic version with the violin, with those angelic voices being the instruments. I could listen all day. Wish I could get to the show in the theater - there is no substitute for theater acoustics. In the meantime, my 98 year old father is a huge fan...and he's mostly deaf! When they're on PBS, he is glued to the screen. Not sure if he hears anything or if he just enjoys watching these lovely ladies perform, lol.
Good job celtic woman really enjoyed and appreciate your singing and style way to go best wishes to everyone at celtic keep up the work and singing you guys rock thanks ! Joe
I never understood the song Danny Boy before as I'd only ever heard Peter Kay singing it with helium... This is the first time I have listened to the whole song and my goodness the lyrics are so so touching. The harmonies have destroyed me too I'm an emotional wreck right now. Truly beautiful.
WOW!!!!!!!!! This version of Danny Boy brings me back to the day I just happened to be channel surfing in the Fall of 2004 and was instantly captivated when I happened to hear the unbelievably harmonious voices of Chloë, Lisa, Méav, and Órla accompanied by Máiréad on their very first PBS appearance. The power of this song is so reminiscent of "Your Raise Me Up" from that first show!
Wow made me think about spending time with my grandparents when I was younger, this song is so special to me for that reason and you ladies just brought them memories right back along with a lump in my throat 😀 thanks. Brilliant interpretation of the song though
Thank some loves my comment. I love to hear Celtic music, especially Celtic Tenors, when they sang together in high pitched voice, I just feel I was In another world. A man was singing this in Senior McCann funeral!
Flip is correct. It is sung by a mother sending her son off to war, believing that she is probably saying goodbye to him for the last time. But of course, it is such a perfect song that it requires no effort to imagine that, when sung by a tenor (or Tenors) and no change in the lyrics, it could also be a father saying goodbye to his young son. 💔💖
+nwk38 Actually there is around five to ten of them but they all interchange, I saw them live but with only one of these girls but it was still extremely good!
It's not that they interchange. There are always only 4 members, 3 of whom are singers and the last of whom is the violin/fiddle player. However, over time since the group's inception members have either taken time off of left to focus on other things so they've been replaced.
It started with 4 Ladies singing & one Lady playing the Violin. MEAV, CHLOE,ORLA & LISA Singing, and MEARIED (spelling?) Playing the Violin. The Ladies have changed much over the last 12+yrs, but the spirit is always there.

My Dad is dying from cancer. Our family name is Kelly (keh-lee). However, we are Australian (at least since 1900 onwards). A true song of Ireland.
Oh, Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the roses falling,
It's you, it's you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow,
It's I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow,
Oh, Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so!
But when ye come, and all the flowers are dying,
If I am dead, as dead I well may be,
You'll come and find the place where I am lying,
And kneel and say an Ave there for me.
And I shall hear, though soft you tread above me,
And all my grave will warmer, sweeter be,
For you will bend and tell me that you love me,
And I shall sleep in peace until you come to me!
Love this song and the way they sing it. Wonderful arrangement with amazing harmonies. Lisa Lambe is amazing.
