Don't know on PC, but on PS4 I recently tinkered around and found that changing the track effects to just GLOW actually makes them easier to see, and it helps FPS and overall smoothness & stability of the game.

I tried your settings and then went back to the default settings and tweaked a few of them, like water etc, and it is looking good and not lagging anymore, skipping sometimes. I got the game free on Epic but I did buy the DLC's when they were on special. (Poor old pensioner LOL) Love the game, love your channel.
The graphic settings in windows that you shows make sense on notebooks where the low means use of the processors graphic card, and the high means the dedicated graphic card (in my case on low it will use intel hd, on high my amd r7)
@@bertmelis4761 It is for the energy consumption profiles (on notebooks it makes more sense), some apps dont need the dedicated graphic cards full capabilities (for example a GF 1080 on full speed would be overkill for just firefox), so they don't use the full clock speed and bus speed, but they use less energy and make less heat. On notebooks it mean, that if you have more graphic cards, on low it will use the built in (intel processors the intel HD). If you put the settings on high, it means, that it will use the maximum graphic capabilities (max clock speed, bus speed), and wont watch the energy consumption. On notebooks with a dedicated graphic card it will use the dedicated one (for example the notebooks with GF 1080 or any other it will use them). On desktops it means the full clock and bus speeds. The todays notebooks are a bit weird with these graphic settings. They turn on the dedicated graphic card only if the processors built in is not enough. This changes with these settings, where you can choose what to use. On desktops it means to use the full capability of the graphic card, not some energy consumptions downgrading sh!t. :) I hope it helps.

Terrain detail tessellation on the other hand has no effect on graphics, you can turn it down to the lowest settings in any game, it is absolutely unnoticeable, literally free FPS. You say you want your game to have good textures, but you set anisotropic filtering to 8, which leaves distant textures blurry, even though (contrary to what the game claims) setting it to 16 has virtually no effect on FPS and gives you sharp distant textures. Global lighting costs you a lot of FPS, but has little effect on the scene, and can also result in weak contrasts and desaturated colors in many games.
You have right, thx. Only one thing is disturbing me, its the brightness or gamma. I mean the gray haze. I used all options of my monitor and i tried reshading. But nothing really worked. Do you have any solutions?
@@Pagnua Type Nvidia Control Panel in your Windows search bar and go to change Resolution. Under the resolutions you can change the color mode of your graphics card. Switch to Nvidia Color settings and change the Dynamic Range setting to full, or to limited if it's already on full. You should notice an improvement of your monitors contrast if you're on the right setting. If that hasn't fixed your problem try typing Color Management in your Windows search bar. Click on something like extended Options (sorry, I'm translating all of this from german) and then click on calibrate monitor. Just click through everything and don't change anything. This will reset the systems gamma calibration. Then set your monitors gamma to 2.2. I hope this helps.

One question is my game wont render animals and such graphics farther than around 400-450m. It even feels like there's barley any animals out roaming around because of this. Even with the Finland Map with the northern lights. Iv tried many times to see the northern lights but not once have they appeared. I was wondering if this could be because my PC is "old gen". I have a Radeon RX580 and a Ryzen 7 3800 and more than enough ram and storage space. I'v even looked into mods to be able to raise my render distance because I assumed that's what everyone else did.
@@SixcantStop 1. The animals exist far beyond a radius of 500 meters, they're just not rendered into the scene beyond this radius, but the game still takes them into account. 2. It makes no sense to increase the render distance beyond the normal limit, as a clean shot from 500 meters is practically impossible and the render distance is extremely costly in terms of performance. 3. The northern lights are simply a animated texture in the sky that is rendered even on the worst PCs, they just appear very rarely. Hope this helps.

I downloaded the game yesterday and the game looks like it is in slow motion can someone help me? I think that the problem isn’t the graphics card because on steam it says that it’s good enough for the game
Honestly find this game puzzling. I am running high res but am on a system I built 8 years ago. I5 3570k and a 7970 Vid Card. Have zero issues and never crash. Seems like the newer cards have issues with it. Was about to buy a new system when Bitcoin massively spiked and the cards went up 6 fold. Won't build it until they go down.
@@Sparty1966grad Yeah, it doesn't seem very optimized. My CPU has gotten so hot on some reserves that it shut down. That was before I capped my frames and installed water cooling to keep my temps down. Now it's running stable with temperatures in the 60-70°'s

first of all, thanks for your video it was really helpful second, the graphics settings you did(Setting the game to high performance) did make a ton of difference on my cpu usage(Core I3-10100 with a GTX 1660 ti default OC) with the lowest possible settings I'd get a 60-70 percent usage, same goes for all ultra settings(even motion blur and such set to on or high) but after doing what you did it went to 30 to 40 percent usage which is drastically less

I get around 160-180 FPS on ultra. Some of the textures look kinda grainy for some reason. I’ve even tried to tweak the graphics but nothing works. Any tips? Suggestions?
Maybe it’s your monitor? Also maybe try tweaking anti aliasing if you haven’t. Other then that not sure, definitely would make sure you have at least a 144hz monitor though.
This is because of scene complexity, something in the game´s LOD models is not working and it makes the LOD textures of trees and folliage pop up kinda like a ghosty, grainy version of what should be there. If these get on top of your character model, for example, it will make its textures look like they have spots all over them. Unbelievably dumb graphic bug. Check it for yourselves changing Scene Complexity while looking at the trees in the first German map.
@@baadlyrics8705 I never played beyond the free weekend, sorry. Don't think it's a hardware issue, as I said. Might even be a map specific bug, it 100% has to do with LOD textures.
if your playing on a PC go to steam and there is an option to show fps counter in the corner of your screen ... then no matter the steam game it will show an fps number

Wouldn't you want Scene Complexity at Ultra? Isn't that the setting that decides the max distance you shoot animals at?

This really helped, i had everything on the highest setting and IT.LOOKED.BAD. It was grainy and awful

You have to do it through the steam overlay, not exactly sure how to find it. A quick google should help :)

I have a lower end pc so I just play on GeForce Now sometimes and you can play on max settings with good performance.
