Just got back into the hunter COTW after almost a year. Last I remember my normal strategy was run around and shoot anything I could or chase an animal down for literal miles to get a shot on it. Making money was practically impossible. Finding animals seemed like a chore. The game just seemed so boring to me and uninstalled it. Found your channel and now I’m back into the game. I’ve made more money in 1/10 the time, found way more animals, leveled up way more faster and the game is just so fun now that I know how to actually play it.
I definitely recommend getting a tent. I know it takes up a chunk of what you can carry, but you will always have your complete inventory wherever you go. Set up the tent, go inside and there is everything you own. Change out weapons, buy ammo, or whatever you need, then step back out and pick the tent back up.
There's a little money making trick i found on hirschfelden, though it requires the 7mm and probably an ATV if you want to be efficient with it. ATV around in the bottom left of the map until you find relatively fresh bison tracks. Then just sprint after them until you see the bison and shoot shots at lungs. Then just repeatedly chase after the herd and take them all out. The bisons fleeing animation is actually slower than sprinting so you don't need to wait for them to go nervous or anything
Thanks a lot for giving me this idea. I went from 3k to 13k in less than 30 mins by chasing around a Bison herd with my ATV and occasionally hopping off to gun them down. This is definitely a great trick.
@@shayboual1892 Exactly. How are you ever going to get the 90,000 dollars needed for the best gun if you play the game like a sim? It’s almost like the creators expected people to play it like an arcade game.
You got me in to the game in early 2019 and your guides got me started and now i have over 300 hours and all thanks to you and still learning more from your videos
No wonder I'm having so much trouble... I make one shot that I take forever setting up and it clears everything that's in the area out and I can't catch up to anything after that...
I personally think you should definitely do the goose hunt for beginners! It's a really good idea for someone who's starting out with no DLCs and can't afford to get them. Also, great video Flinter! Watched just about all of your videos for COTW!
In my opinion, best way is to join a public game and hunt on the coast of Emerald each gator you kill, gives you $1000 and you can even shoot the ones that go in the water with a glitch to do the glitch. You basically just have to lay down and go until the water just enough to where it doesn’t make you stand back up but you could still see underwater for a split second to make a shot
If you really want to grind without running around and you have the DLC containing the Virant .22LR, I'd say put on a TV series or some youtube videos, go to Petershain in Hirschfelden and lay in the fields or put up a hunting stand and decoys on the north field of the camp that is in the middle of that area. Started a new game and went from level 0 to 32 in two-three days(Made my new save a week ago, but decided to grind the other day, so I was already at around lvl 6, but still).

You can make a ton of money and level Up fast hunting geese. I have 2 spots set up, I use a shotgun then the .22 if I hit my shots i can kill every goose in a flock. They pay $500-$900/goose. Great way to make money and level up
Great video as always Flinter! I'm planning to start a grind for a diamond Chamois and I'm trying to get enough cash for some tripods, and some of these tips are really helpful for that 👍
I'd watch a goose hunt. I'm absolutely hopeless with the shotgun so would appreciate some pointers. I'm not a game beginner (level 42 ATM) but definitely a shotgun beginner lol. Great video as always
I just started hunting geese as well. I prefer the 10 and 12 gauge shotguns. 20 gauge is good if you’re on mouse and keyboard due to follow up shots being necessary most of the time (at least for me). Blinds are a must have. Waterfowl blind is my personal favorite, flinter uses the tripod seat. Geese decoys are a must have as well. When you hear the geese, give off a few calls with the caller and they’ll eventually come into you. As they fly near, identify the males or rare females then just wait for them to land. There is a bug going around where geese will attempt to land and then flee for no apparent reason. Resetting the game seems to fix it.
I’ve given up using the shotgun on console. I get way more shots using the 22 virant and taking shots when they are flying low. If I use the shotgun they scatter and start flying away from me and I can’t seem to hit any followups.
honestly you can just walk around with a call and a 22lr. you can take out 6-8 geese per flock cause you can shoot far and accurate while they are flying. it feels like cheating but you make money insanely fast
@@snupolupogate2895 I think you misunderstood :). I can shoot birds ok with a rifle but my shotgun skills are pants. It wasn't about the money, I was hoping for some pointers on aiming with a shotgun because I wanted to level up to get the shotgun scope.
I'm so glad the consecutive harvest bonus doesn't effect the tier of animal you shot anymore. I got screwed out of my first diamond because of that. Still haven't got one and it's been years lol
What I learned from this video is that a long time player trying to tell newbs how to play is stupid. I NEVER see more than two animals at a time anywhere on my map, you have HERDS. Only having 60 hours in the game, I still can't make multiple shots like that yet.
i have like 22 hours in the game and I find herds all the time. Deer are practically ALWAYS in herds. If you find a deer and you can't see a herd just look around a bit, they'll be there somewhere. Rivers and lakes are also popular places for herds to be, so be sure to check there.
I think they need to rework that damage a little. How is a .308 doing more damage than a 30-06? Would be cool to get different barrels and chokes for the shotguns too.
And animals spook for me from far away quite often. I don't understand why sometimes for large distances there are absolutely no tracks.. I understand not seeing animals (to a certain extent) but no tracks whatsoever???
i find the zeroing perk to be useless and a pain because you always have to remember to set it properly. i removed it and have been shooting normally with no problems.

I've got 60k saved up. Might buy the 338 when my rifle score hits 5500, im 500 rifle score shy of the polymer 338

Not only did I get a Diamond Moose with a .243 on my second day, after about 9k in scent eliminator over a week and finally not being able to afford it, I have seen at least double the animals without the scent eliminator. Sounds crazy but it was quite noticeable! That crap is a gimmick. The lures work fine using them at the right distance, but the scent eliminator is a money grab to make the game longer by spending so much cash on it! After a full week I hadn't seen a coyote even once. Without scent eliminator I killed 2 in one night!
My first kill on the game was a level 9 legendary black bear and it was a diamond. It stood up in a valley and I put my 270 right on its chest and it dropped quick

Another question for Flinter or anyone. What’s the best load out to cover class 1-9 without switching guns every map and also using the Zarza .308. What of all weapons in the game is the strongest for shooting deer 'ethically'? (Oh and multi shot :)) And what does your dog 'tracking prey' mean... Is it when the slowly bleeding animal you are tracking has despawned?
Thank you for keeping it without dlc. My son and I are getting into it pretty well but we dont have internet so im assuming dlc is out. Any tips for finding harvests that are vital and health dropping fast where they're tracks and blood just stop and no animal to be found anywhere? He has an xbox 1

Last time I played this was on PS4 with the old scoring system and I had no problems finding and bagging animals. Switched to PC this year and after 90 hours I've never even seen a diamond, the map is almost empty, need zones only have a couple of animals turn up, they ALWAYS approach from down wind, and I mean AAAALLLLWWWAAAYYYYSSSS!!! My new "hunting" method for PC is to put down a tripod stand at a need zone and then watch TH-cam or read a book for an hour or 2 until a lone animal shows up! I always do the missions first and drive round discovering need zones so I have plenty of zones to check. I'm really starting to hate this game, I might give up until after the wipe and then try again. Edit: I have about 300 hours on ps4 so I'm not exactly new to the game.
Easy way to earn money/XP edit out all the bits where you looking for something to shoot. My map is barren. I have spent entire in game days without finding a single need zone or warning call or even coming across a single track. I’m good at finding moose in Belmont. But killing moose with a .243 they run for hours.
Hey Flinter, Thanks for the beginner's video. I didn't know you had to hold the breath button for it to work 🤣🤣 😭 Since the goose hunting is on Hirsh (free map?) and we buy the dlc for geese. Would you consider including a segment to Red Deer hunting there since they are now a G/O also?

@@winnerscreed6767 done that and whenever I get to Layton it's all does, sorry I lie I've had probably 3 bucks all silver 🤦🏼♂️ lil pricks haha I'll get one eventually
Would love to see a goose guide for beginners
Got back myself into hunting... lvling up omfg again..
I'd love a goose guide. I have a lot of time in this game but still never feel like I'm sure if I'm doing stuff the "right" way
Wolf is another good way of getting money
Bro he gets two max levels before he gets the 7mm in the beginners series, while it took me a few months to even get a troll. That's Flinter for you lol
🥲
Ok thanks flinter will do
Thanks for the tips big Flint
I played the game once a couple years ago and loved it but didn’t really understand the game mechanics and such now that I’ve actually sat down and played Layton lakes and watching your videos I’ve now purchased the diamond pack on Xbox as well as Rancho and the bloodhound dlcs can you possibly do an updated perk and skill guide for beginners I struggle trying to decide what perks and skills I should buy to efficiently progress in the game happy hunting!!!
Definitely make the goose beginner guide
Yes please do a goose vid , i'd happily pay for dlc if it helps me get ahead in game as its just so slow going for me but am loving it just can't hardly find animals even in need zones at correct times , haha basically i'm crap haha
I'd say go for it!
I'd love to see some geese hunting
This game sucks when you don’t know much but I’ve been getting better and it’s been an enjoyable experience.
How do you change the highlight color to red? Seems like it's way better than the blue?
Yesssss bro amazing video thank you!
I have no idea how your dropping alll yhease animals, I shoot them directly in the vitals and they don't go down and then when they do ya can't find them.. they also don't light up for me when dead nor does it show me where my bullet when when I claim my trophy.
Flint thanks a lot a really needed this vid
What of all weapons in the game is the strongest for shooting deer 'ethically'?
(Oh and multi shot :))
And what does your dog 'tracking prey' mean... Is it when the slowly bleeding animal you are tracking has despawned?
To get perk points and skill points win your at level 50+ does it help win you use different weapons like a bow or a shotgun or does it matter
Thank you for keeping it without dlc. My son and I are getting into it pretty well but we dont have internet so im assuming dlc is out. Any tips for finding harvests that are vital and health dropping fast where they're tracks and blood just stop and no animal to be found anywhere? He has an xbox 1
There are tons of Internet "Cafes" you can use .... Even McDonald's has free wifi.
@shane fowler think how he may have posted this to the Internet without Internet
@@OFFICIALLYBENPEARCE lol exactly. Of course the phone has internet. I was meaning can I go somewhere and download the dlc and then use the downloaded dlc offline*? The phone hotspot does not have enough to run the game but yes I can definitely go somewhere for a one time use absolutely
Edit: I have about 300 hours on ps4 so I'm not exactly new to the game.
skill issue.
Playing on my iPhone 8 Plus Xbox cloud it’s getting better but hard to track animals ❤
New Player to CoTW Here - Would love you to cover Goose/Duck Hunting :)
He already did a video on goose hunting so have others. Amazing way to make money quick and level
Up. Search it on TH-cam
I didn't know you had to hold the breath button for it to work 🤣🤣 😭
Since the goose hunting is on Hirsh (free map?) and we buy the dlc for geese. Would you consider including a segment to Red Deer hunting there since they are now a G/O also?
Red deer hunting on hirsch? 🥲 oh no
Also keep up the good work love the vids
Flinter I had a base game great one spawn on Xbox I was level 12

Great video, and yes PLEASE do a goose hunt for beginners I really need it, thanks

If you click on new game can you switch between the new one and main one
Hey flinter do you know how to zoom in with the scope on xbox
Hey guys I do not have any dlc. I hunt in Layton lake and do not know what weapons to buy or get. And what scope would y’all reacon
hey when I spot a animal using the Bino's, I do not get the animal icon on the map, Is there a setting I need to turn on or as this now been removed? I find mit hard to get the distance as im new and only just got the game so i dont have any range finders.
Also i got the game as a package deal with some dlc's and im on the Saranha map dlc so im not sure if its a map thing or not that why i cant see the animal icon
Can you pls do a goose vid that would be awsome
This helped me shoot my first albino rare bison
How do you get the blood trail to be red whenever I’m tracking something it’s blue
Helpful video
Goose hunting episode sounds awesome
Does 200m apply to the bullet striking the ground or another animal as well?
Thanks.
the bullet striking the ground is probably more like 50m, I dont know the exact range, but its way less than the actual gunshot sound
Can you do feeding and drinking zones
This game is so relaxing to play.
