Can't decide between Nemesis Divina and The Shadowthrone. Both are definitely the highlights of this band. Fun/creepy fact; the woman speaking in the first track of Nemesis Divina is Andrea Meyer, who was killed in a bow/knife attack in 2021. She was also married to Samoth of Emperor for a while. Check out her project Hagalaz Runedance. Great stuff.

Satyricon is one black metal band who’s career has some misses but a lot of great albums and the first three will always be classics in the genre. There´s not really an album that i love to pieces and there is no album that i don´t like. One of my favorite band anyway. I´m glad you give Now Diabolical some love. The song "the pentagram burns" kicks ass!
I always struggle between the choice of dark medieval times and nemesis devina, you should do more videos on Les leigons noires like you did with mutilation. bands like vlad tepes, Aakon Keetreh, Black Murder, belketre. I would love to see what you think about them and what you rate them (if you are familiar with any of them)
I really like Satyricon's discography. There's so much diversity. I love both old, mid and newer phases. The Age of Nero ends up being the one i hear less. If I remember correctly the “ Shadow throne “ was released not long after DMT and also Wongraven & Storm around there too. Ps. I really thought their demo sucked, they improved so quickly

I'm a weirdo in that I rate Dark Medieval and Shadowthrone at the very bottom of the list, and think every album afterward is phenomenal. I still like their first two albums, I just feel that Satyricon wasn't super good at that early grim Norwegian style of BM. They came into their own on Nemesis and have been making good albums ever since. When it comes to early/raw/atmospheric black metal, I take Darkthrone, Enslaved, and Emperor over Satyricon's first two.

Between the first three, it's a toss up, all are masterpieces in their own ways. Four is Rebel, it's a fucking brilliant album...mixing Voivod and Slayer with moments of grindcore, industrial, and black metal and even some rocking songs (Havoc Vulture)...I really wish they would have stayed on this path because everything post RE has been mid paced, and pretty damn lifeless. btw It's not Nemesis Divinia it's Nemesis Divina.

Damn they really sunk low with “Volcano”. What on Earth happened really? Could this be due to the idea that the band signed to Red Ink records, which is owned by a band member of System Of A Down?! To be real with you, most of the songs on the album are uninspiring, and boring. They're for the most part, weak and watered down without the same intensisty we've seen in "Nemesis..." and even in "Rebel..."
