i'm into auto detailing and use concentrated apc(all purpose cleaner) by the gallon which i can dilute with distilled water to different ratios for light to heavy stains. i use a chemical-resistant spray bottle which is labelled via label maker with the different ratios. i use various brushes depending on surface - from wheels, plastic trim, for the engine bay, fabric seats or carpet. some apcs i love are meguiars apc and optimum power clean. i love your channel because it shows that the same or similar ideas, tools, products and techniques can cross boundaries and be applied productively and usefully to other areas.

Great video! I LOVE LOVE LOVE that huge yellow coffee mug in the background!! (I know it's a tea cup & saucer, but my brain thought it would make a wonderful coffee mug for those extra tough mornings! HA!!) Anyway ... I keep an old fork in my cleaning caddy, for fluffing up matted spots in the carpet!

I too love the 50/50 baking soda/dish detergent mix. Added a little Peppermint essential oil last time, which took the freshness factor to the next level. I mostly use this mix to clean everything in the bathroom (except inside the toilet bowl). It takes off the oily soap scum ring with ease. It is also nice for cleaning out the kitchen sink. Love your channel!

I keep my baking soda in a glass parmesan cheese shaker. It makes it really easy to use, b/c I can sprinkle it evenly on things I clean with it. I also make a cleaner and disinfectant in one with 1 part alcohol (90%), 1 part water, and a few pumps of Dawn. You have to rinse it, but it works well.

I love microfiber cloths, trouble is so do my boys, so mine are always going missing. I also love White vinegar for cleaning and usually use half vinegar and half water, with lemongrass essential oil. For the extra greasy areas, I add a drop of fairy washing up liquid to the same amount of vinegar and water. For keeping away spiders, I use the same amount of vinegar and water with added peppermint oil. If you spray this round your windows and doors, it keeps the spiders away and also I spray on the wall around my bed. You do have to keep this up though as after a week or so, the peppermint wares off.

I have migraines and so heavily scented cleaning products can really be an issue for me. Fortunately, I have found two that not only work incredibly well but also have yet to be a problem for my head (I have the ingredients for making my own, but my squirt bottles have been weak and lacked will). The all-purpose cleaner that is almost certainly over-kill for the job is Krud Kutter. This stuff is amazing. It doesn't have a heavy smell (I'd almost say it is odorless, but it isn't quite that) and yet I have seen it break down some pretty nasty oven grease all on its own. The other is a product found at Dollar Tree by LA's Totally Awesome. It's their window cleaner in the vinegar formula. With a surprisingly short ingredient list for a store bought cleaner, this is one I feel pretty comfortable using at home and with vinegar in the second slot it does the job beautifully with a light scent (mainly of vinegar, but there is some kind of fragrance in this to tone that down, though I honestly don't notice it...at all) that dissipates quickly.

I believe I got this cleaning recipe from a magazine: to clean hair brushes use baking soda and mouthwash. I get a giant size generic brand of listerine from Walmart. I don't measure. I just run some hot water in the bathroom sink, pour a bit of mouthwash and sprinkle some baking soda in and let soak.

KARNAK, my go to. I love this stuff! It is a professional-strength asphalt, tar and dirt remover/degreaser. I use it to clean aluminum, stainless steel, chrome, concrete, most plastics, painted surfaces and it removes ink, oil, dirt, etc. It comes in a spray bottle. It's a natural solvent obtained from orange peel and pulp. It has a really nice citrus scent too. It's
biodegradable, non toxic and petroleum free.

For a cleaning toothbrush, I’ve found that a denture toothbrush works tons better than a regular toothbrush! The bristles are much stronger, and especially if you’re cleaning grout (or any other surface that needs a good strong scrubber), these work so much better.

I leave my all purpose spray cleaner in a basket with microfiber cloths next to the kitchen sink because I use them all the time. My dh will cook but leave the grease for me to clean up plus I have 2 adorable cats who walk on the table, cabinets, stove top etc so I clean before I use them because cats aren't super clean about washing feet after using the litter box. And I can't keep them from walking anywhere. To clean my rubber gloves I put them on and use dish soap and hot water to wash like I do my hands, rinse and dry then turn inside out to let dry on the inside. It makes the gloves last longer. if you need to you can powder the inside to make gloves easier to get on. Tfs. I also use a Jeff Campbell's cleaning apron to carry my tools with me. Great design. big happy summertime hugs to you and Chad, can be accomplished by hugging each other you both deserve it😁😁

    Hi Melissa,
I have been watching your videos for a while, and I am very interested in making my own cleaners. I have a ragdoll cat, and I have heard that cats do not like vinegar, and that essential oils aren't safe for use around cats. I was wondering if you know anything about this. I am thinking that, since the essential oils and vinegar will be diluted, it won't cause adverse effects (or any effects on my cat's behavior) that I am worried about.
Thank you! I can't wait for your next video.

My go to cleaner is a mixture of 50/50 vinegar and rubbing/grain alcohol with some lemon, tea tree, or lavender essential oil (which is totally optional). It does everything, including glass and disinfecting (even without the essential oil).

A baking soda and vinegar mixture is my go to for so many things. I clean the washer, the bathtub the sink, any tape residue that may have stuck to a surface. It is a power couple in my eyes

Citra solve is my go to. I clean almost every thing with it. it's my all purpose. 2 tbs in 3 cups of water makes it perfect.
