I always wondered what season 2 would've looked like (if it had one.)
Jedah would be the new antagonist from another dimension with Q-Bee as his goofy assistant, B.B. Hood would be a failing hunter using random gadgets out of her basket to catch monsters, and then there's Lilith as Morrigan's bratty little sister who just so happens to have a crush on Harry.
That's actually a good idea. I like it! Shoot, add in Shadow and Marionette for later episodes.
And if it had Season 3 (somehow especially if the quality was still virtually the same), then it'd be an all out war between the heroes, Jedah and Pyron's forces respectively resulting in goofy and mostly stupid moments. And maybe throw in a crossover between Darkstalkers and Street Fighter. Or another Capcom franchise that could work well in Darkstalkers like Ghosts n Goblins.

the two good things that this show gave us was a very strangely attractive fishman and Scott McNeil as lord raptor.
McNeil even reprised his role for the OVA, and even then, he was amazing. If we ever get a new Darkstalkers game, I hope he comes back.

The last thing I would've thought of when I was going to watch a Darkstalkers cartoon was a giant intergalactic spaceship.
Never saw this show, but even as a kid I woulda been so damn confused how the tractor beam could lift Morrigan and a whole ass pyramid straight out of the ground, but it couldn't get Talbain out of a cave and then gets beaten by snowballs.
I like Pryon being an alien. Makes him like the King Ghidorah of Darkstalkers. But that space ship is so very goofy.

The Darkstalkers games should really have cartoon style and on-model characters designs from the show as alt-costumes, as part of a free update.
Maybe for an April Fools thing. Also throw in their voices from the show. Same goes for Street Fighter and even Mega Man.

Lots of American shows do that. Sometimes it less bad then others. Like 'Whose Line is It Anyway?' which has ad break just before credits, they at least have another skit during the credits, involving the credits themselves each time so it's something to come back to at least.
Transformers did it too.
I think this version of Darkstalkers is interesting because the actual plot is that everyone is a gelatin creature but they have all forgotten, considering the way they all move and emote.
A Catgirl shows up outta nowhere and the kid's response is "What a day!" This is art.

Scott also played Lord Raptor in the english dub of the Darkstalkers OVA.
Oh, so they did like in SF cartoon latin spanish dub. Most of the Columbian cast was recasted to redub both Van Damme and SFIIMOVIE. Was a god awful acting but consistent nontheless.

Since the show managed to feature Donovan & Hsien-ko, part of me kinda wished how would they handle (& butcher) the Savior newcomers (Jedah, Lilith, Q-Bee & BB Hood) out of a sense of morbid curiosity.

I Imagine B.B. Hood as a Valley Girl, Q-Bee saying Bee related Puns, Lilith as Morrigan's second banana and Jedah as a Babysitter to the Fetus of God (or Baby of God to not be as graphic for the kiddies).
If Jedah was in this show,I want Tim Curry to do his voice. In a Frank N. Furter like voice.

Oh wow, that's a blast from the past. I totally forgot they made Morrigan a villain in this show. Never understood why Dimitri was grey through.
My guess was that they wanted him to look more supernatural and menacing and his actual skin color didn't look right to them.

The fact that they even made this show for kids is baffling enough, one of your main characters is a freaking succubus.
Aahh, the 80s and 90s, the era of questionable cartoons based on licensed properties for an older demographic. For every Ghostbusters and Beetlejuice cartoon there was at least 10 of these
Is no one going to address Felicia's attire in this? How can that pass the “kid friendly” test?
And yes, I know she's wearing more clothing than in Darkstalkers.

I will say that this show has a surprisingly decent voice cast. This was the first and only instance of a Scottish Morrigan for decades and Scott McNeil was so good at Lord Raptor that he later reprised his role for other projects.
This one episode was more awkward than the whole street fighter cartoon
Harry is the worst part of this. No one, let alone a CHILD would have his level of cool-headedness and guts encountering Felicia in their BEDROOM!!! If I were him, I would have probably fainted or combusted into flames.
Hell, if when I was a teen I discovered that the cat I found yesterday and brought into my room to sleep with me is actually a semi naked catgirl I would've freaked out, to be honest I would freak out nowadays too but back then I would probably start panicking about panicking cause I would think its a dream and I wouldnt want to end it by getting too excited
Hah, I said "just powerbomb him!" at the exact same time Matt did. I'd totally be down for a quality, episodic, Saturday morning style adaptation of most of Capcom's IPs, could be fun.

I would love if everyone who spoke to Rikuo added "You're quite attractive." or "Youre mysteriously handsome." to every conversation with him.
This show is a tragedy because it shouldn't have been hard to make the Looney Tunes-ass Darkstalkers into an action comedy and it's obvious that someone on staff really did their homework on the game's story and characters; the difference between this and the Street Fighter cartoon in this area is night and day (though technically it's the fault of the SF cartoon following the movie, which by mandate shoved nearly every SF2 character in). But of course, all that hard work got sandpapered out by the time it left the board room and reached the unfunny writers' hands. And the horrendously cheap animation makes things ten times worse. It must've been hell for those poor underpaid animators to rush out such a shoddy adaptation of the wildly imaginative spritework. Even Harry could've been OK with better writing, as human characters have worked in the games, and the show's premise of monsters teaming up is ripe for the inclusion of a kid keeping these terrors of the night on the side of good.
We need a NEW DARKSTALKERS cartoon!

it depends how good or bad the character and writing is.

American Megaman was low-key fantastic. A braggadocious Super Fighting Robot ™ going around yelling “Now I’ve got your power” all the time was hilarious!

Yup, I made the unfortunate choice to check this version out and I only made it through that first episode. Uuooff! Then I watched the 4 episode anime version. Holy shit! The anime one is the adult version.Made me wish for a dark netflix remake in the same vein as the castlevania anime.

Matt as long as your enduring this pain I’ll join you on this journey. Darkstalkers is my all time favorite fighting game series… and it really hurts to watch how bad this truly is. I literally wrote this out of my mind. Hopefully you’ll continue to do it all.

Is the result of not giving modelers enough time and money to create fitting models, aka MvCI Morrigan, also in the running?
Found the DVD box set of this "marvelous" show last year, I immediately bought it and yes I know it's bad. Just couldn't miss out on owning a copy.
So we have Koga vs. Naraku or Bale and SIIIIINDRHIIIII vs. Gabriel Angelos or Eliphas the Inheritor vs. pretty much the entire Soulstorm cast. Hope Scott has more lines on par with metuhl bawxes and Steel Rehn - Rikuo and Lord Raptor already show some promise. 🤣
The Darkstalkers cartoon is just too hilariously goofy for me to me to put it in the Bottom 5 Worst Game-to-Animation Adaptations. (And apparently, it reflects the comedic tone of the games better than the otherwise much prettier OVA)
Pyron's plan seems quite logical with no excessive extra steps or anything.
They brought Scott Mcneil back for the OVA, didn't they?
This could have been gargoyles quality. Would have needed new voice actors and a good polish but it deffinitely had potential.
I'd also say better voice direction since some of them are good VA but are given poor material to work with along with better writing because jeez, the whole "stop Pyron from capturing the other Darkstalkers and collecting Earth" plan could have been decent but it's kinda Next Mutation levels of dumb and wasted potential. IMO.

Imagine the possible Capcom animated universe. I could've seen crossovers with Red Earth and even Knights of the Round given the show's connection to Merlin and Morgan le Fey.
It has to be the biggest failure that this and Street Fighter never had a crossover episode.

I used to have vhs of Saturday morning cartoons and I def remember having some of Darlstalkers next to Biker Mice from Mars and probably Life of Louie.
And this is just the first episode. The one meant to entice and bring in an audience with slightly higher quality. Wooof.

i love the darkstalkers cartoon. my old roommate has the whole series on dvd. we would drink and marathon it. we did the same with street fighter. its a shame we could never find the mortal kombat cartoon from the same era.

Why is Morrigan a villain in every single Darkstalkers adaptation?
Because she's not really a hero. In this show, she's a poorly written antagonist who's mainly fighting for herself but has to fight for Pyron and even Demitri at times.

Yeah but part of Darkstalkers' charm was its silly animations and alike. It wasn't really a dark series nor should it be. It was a blend of both dark and goofy western stuff.

I never had the misfortune of seeing any of this cartoon, and as a fan of Darkstalkers, I wish I hadn't, but also feel compelled to see the rest of it. Morbid curiousity is weeeird.

Back then, it depends on the show and network though for some unknown reason, they kept the TV bumpers in the episode. And I wouldn't say it was intentional since IIRC the show's DVD release featured "trailers" for Street Fighter and Mega Man's cartoon but they were actually the show openings with the audio swapped. LOL

Speaking of, Lord Raptor’s VA in this show actually reprised for the OVA. To the point that if we, somehow, get a new Darkstalkers, I hope they bring him back a third time, provided he’s still around and active.
Nothing about Harry's reaction to waking up to find Felicia in his room is believable.
