This is the only episode in the entire series where Balrog showed up and they had him typing with boxgloves, seriously that's all he does.

@@therealblackcerberus2371 the funny thing is dee jay was the one working as bison as his computer tech/enforcer. they switched it up in the cartoon for whatever reason. probably cause the cartoon team got better glimpse at SFII's character alignment.
as an indian, i can confirm, It is true our streets are filled with television sets, on walls, trees, doors, everywhere.
This episode had pretty much everything. Our main cast of Street Fighters, cameos from other games, a Capcom easter egg, laughably bad animation and fight scenes, a dumb plot revolving around Street Fighting, Balrog typing with boxing gloves and Bison himself. This is probably the most entertaining episode in the series and why this show should never be forgotten.

So there wasn’t anything that Bison was trying to gain here, he set this entire thing up just troll Guile and company. And his backup plan when they don’t get torn apart by mutants is to use a deepfake to get the Street Fighters canceled.

I wanted Bison to hold up a speech balloon over Guile’s head that reads: “I stink, man!” And then Guile remarks, “hey, I don’t remember saying that!”
I like how Bison hired Baxter Stockman to work in his mutant lab.
A lot of these cameo characters look like they were drawn from memory 😭
Amazing memes, animations errors and dumb Bison plots aside, I will never got over how this show depicts Guile as a man whose first option to any and every problem in life is to throw out a Sonic Boom.

Entire empires were built off this episode, empires consisting of video essay content about the making of bad video games and movies not naming names.
To be fair, having Balrog be a boxing hacker is a huge step up from his original personality as a dumb muscle in the games.
Besides, he can still get paid through his computer skills. He's like an underutilized prototype for Defenders of the Realm Nightwolf.
He doesn't need his FITE MONEY when he knows the dotcom bubble is coming.

Call me crazy but I don't... *hate,* some of the character interpretations. Cammy being a wise-cracking snob are at least personality traits you can latch onto as opposed to the moping blank slate in the games. And I always thought Ryu/Ken play off eachother well here. I mean this is kinda how they would act if they were perpetually joined at the hip like this. But man, the storyboard for this episode must actually been a dartboard considering how much shit they threw at us. A tournament (in India...I think), kidnapped scientist, genetic mutants, religious desecration, a frame job, mob rule, a time bomb, almost the entire cast is here along with Final Fight cameos, and somewhere in the middle is something about homeless kids. Like, shouldn't Bison have *first* tried to frame them, and then sic the mutants on them if they wind up getting too close for the action set piece at the end? I swear these episodes leave your head spinning everytime.

the monster designs remind me a bit of the demons in YuYu Hakusho which was totally an anime from like 1994 so maybe that was an inspiration.
I've never really played street fighter before or watched these shows but i do like these videos and Matt got me in to mortal Kombat like 10 years ago so i trust him with fighting games

The more I think about the mental image of the street fighters sucker punching religious iconography the more I crack up. Like imagine walking into a Christian church and doing a shoryuken on the wall mounted crucified Jesus.
I could see this show's Ken doing that.
Is this the best episode in the series? It's got everything I would have cared about as a little kid.

My reaction when Matt gets around to making his second video on Vexx, which he assures me will be sometime "soon".
If they were going to have the Final Fight cast anyway, imagine if they'd made Bison's creatures Darkstalkers characters or Resident Evil monsters. (I know, I know RE1 came out a year after this episode aired, but you can't tell me it isn't awesome to imagine a cartoon fight between, say, Guile and a Tyrant or Chun Li and a Hunter)
That'd be something cool though I admit, those mutants kinda make me wanna see a Resident Evil in a Saturday Morning Kids show setting.
sure,this is THE episode with THE meme,but it's also funny to remember this is the ONLY episode Balrog shows up in the ENTIRE show and he never gets to even fight. Poor guy is shown in the opening for only a single moment,behind all the other bad guys. Zangief is more highlighted as a bad guy than Balrog is in the intro(and Zangief shouldn't even be a villain anymore,if you remember this supposedly acts as a sequel to the 1994 movie. And neither Balrog should be a villain either,by that same logic....And neither Dee Jay should be a good guy...God,what a mess...).
Vega didn't fare much better either and only appears in two or three episodes of the entire show,so the series,despite what the intro shows us,mostly treats Sagat and Zangief as M.Bison's only major recurring lackeys...

Matt is feeling the fatigue, but I am thoroughly enjoying the series! I grew up in that Era and never knew this existed. Can't wait for the next episode.

Damn, this crowd of hulking strangers is ALL ABOUT carving up a shoeless child with a broken bottle. How bleak is the Street Fighter cartoon universe supposed to be, anyway? Maybe forget about M. Bison and try sonic booming your society's advanced civil decay, Colonel Guile.
I'm pretty sure the guy in the green isn't Zeku, but either Dan in his P2 color (this was 1995, nobody really knew who Dan was yet, just that he was a secret character in the game), or Charlie, which had to be Blanka, except Blanka is already back to his Beast Mode and oh dear, I've gone cross-eyed...
It's Charlie given how he has the coloring of human Blanka but the hairstyle of Blanka. And given the whole Charlie is Blanka story in this universe among others, it was definitely him they were referencing.
In the shot of the Alpha characters, was that human Blanka, filling in for Nash, as he's this shows version of him?
