The sunroof issues isn’t the seal, if it’s leaking from the top of the a pillars where he has it caulked up it’s just a clogged drain🤦🏻♂️ keep chomper
I'd be willing to bet this shares the same sun roof components as our 2007 Acadia. Known for bad seals and leaking - we unclogged the drain tubes in the A-pillars and water was still getting around the sunroof seal. So...... We went cheap fix. Used gasket-maker to seal the ever living sh** out of it - the very last thing I did was pull the fuse so my wife couldn't ever open it again. Been dry as a bone since! Now it's just a skylight... The wind noise is from the jacked silicone around the sunroof btw.
Passing up on that truck and keeping Chomper was the right move. I am on my 5th different GMT-800 platform vehicle in 22 years. They are the best of GM. Up here in Ohio we get too much rust from salt, so I picked my current 2003 Suburban up from down south. 205,000 miles, and it still runs better than almost anything else I have ever had.
I would’ve passed on it too. Biggest thing I think about when buying another truck and selling the one I’ve got is I already know all the little imperfections and quirks of mine, so why buy one that I’m going to have to figure out and go through that whole new to me phase again.
Chomper is in much better condition with lower miles. The other truck looks ragged out with a lot of little things here and there that are broken. The moment you went back to driving in your truck it sounded so much quieter. And as far as sunroofs go - I can't remember that last time I've opened mine. I even forget I have one.
You made the right choice not buying. I have a 2007 classic cateye and door seals were the first thing I had to fix with all the highway noise. Mine is the extended cab and that is a common problem.
Unicorns🦄 are just that, rarely what you expect. That being said, keep Chomper, he is like 90% of what you were looking for! Plus he is a beautiful truck! Keep up the great work 👍
I think you made the right choice, I looked for 6 months and held out on a lot of trucks and finally found a unicorn 2 months ago. 2006 chevy cateye crew cab lt3 with 7800 original miles. Just wait and the one day you will find the unicorn
I'm one of the people who voted for your to keep chomper, and after seeing this truck I'm glad you decided to go that direction. Too many little issues that seem weird to me. The driver door not closing, the rear door not working, the tailgate not lining up, the caulk on the roof... Just lots of oddball things. You made the right choice.
I’ve got a unicorn 2006 cateye. 2006 LT z71 fully loaded, heated leather seats, onstar, 4x4, automatic seats, memory seats, sunroof, deep tint from factory, it has little everything a 1500 can have, good paint still, bought with 190k miles no mechanical issues what so ever. It’s a beuty truck paid for it in cash when I was 16, 17 now.
Me looking at trucks.....nope, it's red, next! Lol. Good to see Chomper sticking around for a little while longer. That truck needed way too much attention and it would've needed to be a deal I just couldn't pass up to buy it, a color change would've been on my list if I was keeping it for me. Keep up the good work. Hopefully you'll get your ordered truck soon, that'll calm some of your cheating on Chomper down a bit. Lol 😆
Chomper is the cleanest round body I’ve seen keep it and fix the little things it’s a great truck low miles and in my opinion the black with the chrome is cleannn asf
Enjoy what you got, trust me I had a unicorn just like that truck except it was a dodge it got stolen from me and I miss it everyday enjoy chomper. You can always install a sunroof
Ya dude you made the right decision. That truck wasn’t all that bad but chomped is cleaner. And you can put a sun roof in chomped and get it painted literally whatever color you want for content
I love watching the videos, i’ve been looking for a red round body for about 6 months… no luck. My parents just bought me an 07 altima for my first car but im trying to save up for a round body chevy and be able to mod it like you’ve inspired me to do
I looked for six years trying to find a clean 06 and I ended up finding a immaculate four door 2006 Vortec Max Cateye with the sunroof. Truck had no problems and had 106,000 miles. I would have passed on that red GMC as well but keep looking because there are still a few out there.
I was wondering about this truck. It doesn’t look terrible, a little TLC and she’ll be a great truck. But considering all you’ve done to the black one with less miles I would have passed too.
I have a 2004 Chevy 2500 HD with 84,000 on it the truck looks like new, it is just an LS model with 6.0 gas. I have had the truck for 12 years and love it.
I can’t believe you have a SPEED channel shirt! It has to be like 15 years old haha! I bet most of these guys in the comments don’t even know about that channel.I used to watch it all time! That red truck was pretty raggedy compared to chomped though. Good thing you passed on it.
Sun roof and t tops are nice...but years down the road it's going to start leaking...the best way to keep from doing it...always keep the rubber seal clean with durgagloss or any product you like..I keep mine clean every 2 weeks...also keep it inside a shop or up under the car port...when it rains or any bad weather...I keep mine inside...only drive it on nice days...plus your head lights and tail lights will stay brand new...if you keep it inside the shop...also the inside your vichles will be brand new...keep it outside in the sun...dash start cracking and faded..inside the shop it's dark on mine...that also keep your paint looking brand new like the day it left the dealership...
You made a wise choice. WAY too may issues with that truck. In my opinion the clearcoat starting to bubble is one of the MAJOR problems with that truck. Before long you'll have major clearcoat peeling with dull pink underneath. That means a paint job. Not cheap. Not worth it. Windshield, sunroof, air leaks, water damage, headliner. Yes, you made a wise choice. That truck is at the end of it's life.
The door issues and wind noise are because you need to get the door re aligned… there’s a pin on the door hinge that you have to replace or have replaced. I had to do that to my 99 Sierra 1500
Good pass on that truck. I suspect it was in an accident at some point, and that is why the doors don't shut properly. Being from Michigan I'm just in awe when I see a rust free GMT800 with rocker panels, cab corners, and fenders completely intact. My 2005 cat eye, that I've daily driven for the last 15 years, hasn't fared as well.
Yeah our state kills vehicles..your better off leasing every 3 too be honest….you pay a truck off,and think I don’t have payments anymore, but your trucks rotting away…can win here.only way is to have a mint truck and store it in winter and have a 2nd car for work.
@@toddprater14 Can't beat the car cancer in this state; rust never sleeps. This truck doesn't owe me a dime though. Bought it in 2007, and haven't had a car payment in 11 years. It's only ever been into a shop once, and that was for the faulty GM Castech heads. GM replaced the heads under warranty/recall. Other than that, it's been routine maintenance on wear parts that I handle on my own (thanks TH-cam!). Just a few hundred miles away from turning over 220,000 on the odometer; all Michigan miles. Every month that I keep it, is another $500ish saved in my pocket with today's super inflated used truck prices.
Glad you didn’t buy it. I just sold my 2005 GMC Sierra last year (looked better than the one you drove), it was a burgundy, crew cab, Z71 and I really loved it but it’s trans had gone out (I fixed that), and the 4WD was starting to worry me. But the motor was great. Those years had great motors. I think if you’d have bought this one I’d felt bad for you with all them problems. Love your channel. Been a subscriber for a while.
Probably a good idea to pass on it. It is nice but it seems like there are a lot of little things that will need to be done to get it in better condition. Might have come across more issues when fixing the little things as well but I guess that goes for all older vehicles.
I think you have put to much work into your black truck to start over again with basically the same truck with more issues. Good call on passing it up.
I'd have bailed too unless it's really cheap, you didn't say the asking price. There's obviously been some type of leak, so what's that effect on the electronics and so forth? There's also too much not right, like the door doesn't close, the sunroof is sealed up, the clear is bubbling. That truck looks good now, but it isn't going too for long. For the right money it'd be a good truck for someone, but you already have a nicer one.
Would’ve passed as well Unless it was dog cheap, I love these old trucks but they have a ton of small (fixable) problems so once You fix all the problems on one I wouldn’t wanna restart on another one, the only cool things the sunroof I wish I had one but I’ll suck it up
Your making me want my 04 gmc 2500hd gas guzzler back but I didn’t have a choice of it goin got into a back wreck and flipped and totaled it out but I’m still looking for me another

Keep chomper , glad you passed on this , too many issues ,
I would’ve passed on it too. Biggest thing I think about when buying another truck and selling the one I’ve got is I already know all the little imperfections and quirks of mine, so why buy one that I’m going to have to figure out and go through that whole new to me phase again.
I’m the same exact way bro
Bro same lol like what if I trade or sell my ol reliable and risk getting a truck that could end up bad for me
Chomper is in much better condition with lower miles. The other truck looks ragged out with a lot of little things here and there that are broken. The moment you went back to driving in your truck it sounded so much quieter. And as far as sunroofs go - I can't remember that last time I've opened mine. I even forget I have one.
I think you made the right decision. It was pretty clean but I’m glad chomper is staying
You made the right choice, that thing had alot of little shit messed up. Black beauty chomper is good looking
You made the right choice not buying. I have a 2007 classic cateye and door seals were the first thing I had to fix with all the highway noise. Mine is the extended cab and that is a common problem.
Perfect definition of work truck
Unicorns🦄 are just that, rarely what you expect. That being said, keep Chomper, he is like 90% of what you were looking for! Plus he is a beautiful truck! Keep up the great work 👍
Nice truck but I would have passed on it too. The noise and door issues not closing and sunroof
Keep chomper already has our heart
I’d say keep Chomper imo black looks much better then red
Chomper is wayyyy better less miles less issues! Keep building it up and keep looking for Cat eye and vortec max!
I think you made the right choice, I looked for 6 months and held out on a lot of trucks and finally found a unicorn 2 months ago. 2006 chevy cateye crew cab lt3 with 7800 original miles. Just wait and the one day you will find the unicorn
I found a 84 F150 with 120000 original miles, body’s a little rough but it runs smooth.
Good decision..... It wouldn't have taken me very long to pass on that one!
Reminds me so much of mine, especially chomper. I have a 2007 classic Silverado 1500 HD crew cab with the Regency Badlander package.
I'm one of the people who voted for your to keep chomper, and after seeing this truck I'm glad you decided to go that direction. Too many little issues that seem weird to me. Glad to see you kept chomper
Good choice keep chomper you’d be down grading if you got that
I think you made the right decision. Chomper is clean!!
You did good with keeping the black truck!
I would have passed on it to. Chomper is great stick with the one you know the issues . It's a amazing truck.
You definitely made the correct choice
I went to look at this truck as well. Believe it was in cullman Alabama. Just thought it was to good to be true! Great video buddy!
I love watching the videos, i’ve been looking for a red round body for about 6 months… no luck. My parents just bought me an 07 altima for my first car but im trying to save up for a round body chevy and be able to mod it like you’ve inspired me to do

So glad you still got Chomper!!!
good choice to keep chomper
You made the right choice. Keep yours
Definitely the right decision, but not a terrible truck by any means
Now I’m worry about your commitment to Chomper. Hope you keep it.
I was wondering about this truck. It doesn’t look terrible, a little TLC and she’ll be a great truck. But considering all you’ve done to the black one with less miles I would have passed too.

Keep chomper!! I like chomper more lol it’s cleaner and has less miles which is always a plus for a daily
Next upgrade to chomper has to be chrome caps and paint match on them stock mirrors would look so damn good
Bro, i have an 08' vortec max.... got offered 50k. keeping it with 128k mi. it leaks oil like mad and no sunroof. It will be my casket. Keep chomper!
You could do a F150 style moon roof. That would be amazing and so cool
Definitely keep Chomper!
Miss this truck 😢
you made the right decision
Id say keep Chomper. Good to see the doggo again too.
You made a wise choice. WAY too may issues with that truck. In my opinion the clearcoat starting to bubble is one of the MAJOR problems with that truck. I'm glad you didn't get it. The door issue was it for me. I wouldn't have even driven it. Too much water damage. Don't settle.
I bought a brand new 2005 like this one and it had the door issues from day one. Never could get it figured out. No sunroof. Kept truck a year, NEXT!
Glad you passed chomper is much better
I would have passed on it too. Drivers door and sunroof put me off.
The door issues and wind noise are because you need to get the door re aligned… there’s a pin on the door hinge that you have to replace or have replaced. I had to do that to my 99 Sierra 1500

@@DontjeB true that.. I built a 22’ refreshed denali ultimate… the lease was 1034/36months…. To buy was 1516/60 mts @4%
What’s better about this one? It’s close to the same, isn’t it?
glad u didn’t get rid of chomper
Glad you didn’t buy it. I just sold my 2005 GMC Sierra last year (looked better than the one you drove), it was a burgundy, crew cab, Z71 and I really loved it but it’s trans had gone out (I fixed that), and the 4WD was starting to worry me. Good choice
I think that thang has been wrecked. Keep chomper.
Good call! I would have passed too.
Only good thing about this truck is it has the rarer light gray leather like my 04’ slt crew had….most others have the darker gray interior and dash
Fixing the sunroof would be a good video
I’d keep chomper, lower miles, better color in my opinion, and those sunroofs are nothing but trouble
It was a good thing you skipped on buying it because chomper seemed basically perfect compared to that one
I would bail too. keep looking there's better out there
Keep chomper. That red one is a lemon
You should get the wheels that came with chomper and paint them black
I like the black one wayyyy better.
That sunroof problem is a no go if it was me.
I think you have put to much work into your black truck to start over again with basically the same truck with more issues. Good call on passing it up.
Keep chomper for sure
These are great trucks........just not the one you went out to go see. Chomper is in better condition imho. Just needs a good lumpy cam. 😉
i’m so happy you didn’t get it
I vote to keep Chomper!!
I think chomper is straighter and in better shape all the way around, and black is the only color for these trucks in my opinion
I'd have bailed too unless it's really cheap, you didn't say the asking price. There's obviously been some type of leak, so what's that effect on the electronics and so forth? Use the black one as parts to fix the red on u want
Keep chomper it looks Soo much better

Nice truck!!
I’d like to find an old gmc like that, be cool to have 4 door ford and gmc from same generation. I do like the black with tan interior
I think about a light blue 4 door cateye with a sunroof all the time because I missed out on it
Keep chomper its way cleaner overall in my opinion
I hope you get it so I have some ideas what to do with my red gmc as long as the one your looking at is good
Your making me want my 04 gmc 2500hd gas guzzler back but I didn’t have a choice of it goin got into a back wreck and flipped and totaled it out but I’m still looking for me another
The door pins needs to be replaced on the front doors, Id would assume since the doors don’t close properly and the wind noise
Nice truck bro!
Looks like your black truck is in way better condition
Just get a sunroof installed in chomper
Don’t get rid of it. That red truck not worth it. It’s always going have one issue after another you will find another brother.
