This video explained counter melodies better than the 20 songwriting books I've read, 2 music theory courses I've taken, and years of personal study all combined. Thanks man that shit is helpful.
It probably _summarized_ the concept better, but it lacks all of the important details that those books and courses talk about. I mean, it's a good introduction to the concept, so that you understand what a "countermelody" means (and this is of course valuable to people who aren't familiar with the concept), but it doesn't really teach you any of the details that go into writing multiple parts. And actually, as another comment pointed out, if we are being nitpicky, there wasn't even a true countermelody here. There was a melody and an ostinato part where the bass and the higher voices used contrary motion. But a countermelody implies that there are (at least) two parts that could be called independent melodies. The fact that the bassline/accompaniment part repeats every 4 notes makes it feel less like an actual "melody", and I would just call it an ostinato.

Not saying your take was actually "anti-intellectual", but it gave me that kind of a vibe (like "all these books are useless, because this video explained the same thing in 30 seconds", when it really only barely scratched the surface of the topic - I know that's not the literal argument you made, but it gave me that kind of an impression).
